“Miami not for me but nice pool, good location, poor WIFI”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights, when arriving at this hotel the atmosphere outside was buzzing with nightlife, mainly groups in their 20s and the bar across the road very busy. The rooms are small and basic with very poor WIFI signal this was a cheap hotel by Miami standards and an expensive one compared to the hotels on the rest of our Florida trip. It is good location to Lincoln Rd's shops and food & bars. The breakfast was plentiful but we were down very early. Nice pool area but I had noticed that the sun beds had been reserved very early in the morning by people in the best spots. usual culprits I think. The hotel has easy access to the beach by a secure gate which was useful. The beach was full of groups of men and women although there were families on the beach in the afternoon a more party vibe was evident. I am not sure I will stay in Miami again but would not stay on south beach again too expensive for what you get.

Dear Valued Guest:

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. After reading your review, I can see that you stayed with us during a period involving Spring Break and Winter Music Conference. As you now know, these city wide festivities attract large amounts of people, evening energy and active guests. We agree that some days are relatively quiet and relaxing and other days less so. I sincerely apologize for not being able to meet your expectations during the days you traveled.

On the other hand, I’m glad to hear you enjoyed our breakfast selections, our fabulous location, our pool area and direct access to the beach.

I hope you give us the opportunity to serve you in the future, perhaps during a less hectic time of the year. We look forward to the prospect of welcoming you back.

Best regards,

Jose P.

My fiance and I had the honor of staying at this lovely hotel back in December and the staff could not have been more accommodating. They served a delicious breakfast and we ate our breakfast by the pool, which was a nice experience. The hotel also backs up to Miami beach and is a short walk away from popular restaurants and stores. The staff always greeted us with a smile and even gave some great restaurant recommendations, and then booking the reservation for us. We will always choose to stay at South Seas Hotel when we come to Miami/ South Beach. And the flowery entrance is pretty nice too!

Excellent location but poor poor quality!! Rooms are old and small and dark. Breakfast is included...but poor quality. On the other hand is located in the heart of Collins Ave, walking distance from most of the bars and restaurant. It was pretty expensive for "no-service" and quality. My room was on the first floor..located between the breakfast room/pool area and the lobby...everybody (most of them drunk early in the morning) could walk and scream anytime.

Rooms are very small and rundown with soiled and smelly carpet. Bathroom was very tiny and dirty. Corridors were noisy at all times & staff was rather unfriendly and not responsive.
Front desk and pool area were the only areas decently maintained.

Perfect location in south beach: bech front and one block away from Lincon Road. The hotel should be classified as 3 stars (and not 4 as it usually appears..). Rooms are simple but in a great size. The pool is Beautfull. The breakfast was very nice.. The beach chairs (differently that I saw in other evaluations) and parking are paid separetly (as most hotels there). The only problem with the hotel is that they only clean were you can see... (we found a child soccer under the bed). Despite that I would staying again there..

Stayed here for 3 nights at Easter before heading up to west palm beach. Chose hotel as not overly expensive and close to beach. On arrival took a bit of time to sort out room and no instructions for safe but someone came up and sorted for us although their English was not great. Nice sun loungers round the pool and free towels but pool was not very clean, lots of scum floating at the deep end which was a shame. Breakfast was sufficient, selection of cereals, bagels, cheese, ham and fruit. Drinks in bar and snacks were reasonable. Good location for Lincoln road which has loads of great restaurants. Room was ok but nothing special and bathrooms could do with a bit of an update. Walls are very thin so you could hear everyone talking in the corridors when they came back at night. Fine for the money but shame about the pool.

Dear Jenny I:

First and foremost, on behalf of our entire staff, thank you for reviewing our hotel. It's great to know that our recreational facilities by the pool and direct beach access were to your liking. I'm glad our location was convenient for you to enjoy from local bars and restaurants. It’s also great to hear our breakfast selections were to your liking as well. These are some of the most popular features and amenities mentioned by our loyal guests.

On the other hand, I was sorry to hear you experienced some difficulties with our pool. During the last two weeks of March and first week of April, our hotel was at full capacity and it made it difficult to be able to conduct our regular cleaning program at the pool. Additional to that, most of our guests prefer to stay at the pool to enjoy from our offerings at our Restaurant/Bar. We already reviewed this incident and we will make adjustments to prevent similar situations from happening in the future.

I hope to regain your confidence and I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

With warmest regards,

Reinier C.
