I loved everything about this hotel.

Its beach front, close to restaurants, nice food, the room was clean and the view from the balcony was amazing.

Very good for families with kids since the beach is quiet and calm.

The hotel is a litle far from the South Beach night life so if you want to do something at night you'd better rent a car or walk to a few stores across the street from the hotel.

Expect to pay extra for your beach service and for the fitness center facility.

Stayed here for a weekend... The hotel is right on the beach and convenient to shopping but be warned, if you're a light sleeper, book a room on the North side of the hotel as there is a new building being constructed to the south...We had a one bedroom suite and it was more than adequate... The bathroom is large with two sinks, a seperate shower and whirlpool bath...There is also a full kitchen... Overnight parking is $20 per night... FYI, this is a residential/hotel, so the services are not what you might expect at a 4 star hotel... My only major complaint was that upon check-in at 9:30 pm, I realized I needed another blanket and pillows.. I called guest services at 10:45pm and was told, " sorry, not at this hour" - I thought it was a hotel!?! I paid 259 per night which is not a bad price at this time of year, but would not stay here again until the summer months or if the prices dip down below $200, if I really need/want to stay in this area. Otherwise, there are many other hotels I would prefer as a first choice along Miami Beach which are further south, but away from the South Beach crowd...BTW, the bed is very comfortable( if you like soft beds), so I really don't know what the last reviewer was talking about, although they are right about the sleeper sofa... Didn't try room service or the restaurant, The View, since we cooked our own food which was a good bonus for us!

Doubletree Ocean Point Resort & Spa

We stayed at the Doubletree Ocean Point Resort during the week between Christmas and New Years. The location was convenient with stores and restaurants nearby. The beach was excellent. There is also a market on the property that sells snacks and lunches to take to the beach. Due to the time of year, our rate was $369/nt. for a one-bedroom suite (with partial ocean view). If you choose to stay here, note that there are additional charges for extras. 2 beach chairs & 1 umbrella were $30/day, internet access was $10/day and parking was $18/day; so it really adds up! Overall we felt that the following areas were problematic and did not meet our expectations, hence the low rating; hotel service, room lighting, uncomfortable bed, terrible sleeper sofa (for our child), & cleanliness.

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Doubletree on Sunny Isle Beach. I booked a one bedroom suite that had a balcony overlooking the ocean with great views. The staff was incredibly friendly and accomidating. The room was very large and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was hugh and had a seperate shower and a jacuzzi tub. The bathroom was located in the hallway between the bedroom and the living area. The unit came with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer in the hallway between the two units.

The food in the restaurant was very good, the selection was ok for breakfast. The pool was a nice size and not too crowded as we were always able to find plenty of space and the beach was very clean and nice.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to a great place to stay at a reasonable rate, with a short shuttle to south beach approx 20 min. It was $18 per night to valet park your vehicle but that is the rate in the area.

    • Tips/Secrets: — P.F. Changs restaurant on hwy 1 about 5 min away is a must to eat at, excellent food and service

My husband and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary from October 27-30, 2006 at the Doubletree. The staff (valet attendants, front desk, housekeepers and bartender ) was courteous, friendly, helpful and pleasant. The hotel is right on the beach and is clean and beautiful. The only negative is you have to rent chairs and umbrellas which I thought was unacceptable. Also, parking was $18/day. We didn't eat at the restaurant and the dining area was small. A great restaurant that is reasonably priced and is only a few blocks away is Tony Roma's. We had a standard room with double beds and every room has a great view of the ocean. The furniture in the room needed to be replaced (table was scratched and the dresser was old) and the mattress was too soft. Overall, the location on the beach , the price (we booked through AAA), the staff and the warm cookies upon check-in is what makes this hotel, however minor improvements are needed.
