“Great value, awesome view, on the beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here with my family-wife & 2 kids. This resort is amazing-the views, the service, the on site restaurant (The View)-I am not sure why the restaurant was not packed at more than breakfast time. Great food, super service & kids eat free! The view-corner table with ocean view & palm trees swaying a reality.

This resort is a bargain given that Trump International is just up the beach, the Bal Harbor shopping area is 3 miles south & Ferrari's, Bentleys, & Rolls Royce's are not uncommon to see everyday. Don't be put off by this, there is also a McDonalds, a Denny's, a grocery store & a Wallgreens all within walking distance.

This resort is dated & although the rooms have been refurbished with new furniture, televisions, comfortable beds & updated bathrooms-they are lived in. If you are expecting a totally up to date, spotless high end accomodations this resort will disappoint you. If you are looking for a great location at a bargain price in a high end beach resort area with an awesome pool for your family on the beach you will love it here like we did.

We booked OCEAN VIEW rooms by paying an upgrade at the hotel´s website but we found out all rooms have an ocean view. We had only a square window to the sea while you are invited to upgrade to a room with balcony for additional fees. There is no gratuity to hotel guests - beach chairs are rented, parasols, internet and parking at US$ 27, a day! No self parking available. Breakfast buffet at additional costs is a good option. Small kitchen with a microwave. So, your expenses may easily go up if you are traveling with family. The rooms are spacious but the carpet is so worn out that you don´t want to step on it! Not a very clean and good smelling place to stay. Location is very good and you can see the staff if well trained and very nice - after all it is a Hilton but it needs renovation urgently!

Room Tip: All rooms - even on the ´side´ have a view to the sea. The rooms with balcony may help you enjoy mor...

Our king suite had balconies off living room and bedroom, floor to ceiling window wall to balconies, full size fully equipped kitchen, (dishes, pots and pans), washer and dryer, jacuzzi tub. View was beautiful! Daughter had fun in pool. Swimming in ocean not child friendly. Dropped off immediately. No wading. $27 to park, no self parking. Loved the room and the view!

The location right on the beach is really great, no doubt. But we were not really amused when we read that sun chairs and parasols for the beach must be rented for 10 USD resp. 15 USD per item and day. We skipped that. Also, wifi in the hotel room costs 10 USD per CLIENT per day (so think about the costs for a family with a tablet and some smart phones...). To be fair: In the lobby, wifi is free. Valet parking is the only option with 27 USD.

The area around the pool and pool bar (bar closes already at 5 pm) is not cozy at all, same goes for the restaurant and inside bar. And I think the other guest felt alike: The lobby and pool area were almost desolated after 5 pm.

Room Tip: Two tips: 1. Do not choose an economy room, choose a room with a balcony at least 2. As always: Co...

Have stayed at this Double Tree property 4 times. Would highly recommend it. Wonderful location and great beach. Friendly staff and very good amenities. Great for families. Close to wonderful restaurants and great places to shop. Close to Ft. Lauderdale & Miami airports. Would highly recommend it. Cannot wait to return.

This hotel is located right on a beautiful beach in the town of Sunny Isles. It is about a 35 minute drive from Miami Airport and about 1/2 hour drive to South Beach. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite, oceanfront, on the 19th floor. The views were amazing. The suite was spacious and consisted of 2 bedrooms (1 King/2 dbl with walk in closets), 2 full baths (one with a jaccuzzi), a full kitchen (equipped with dishes, etc), a living room and a dining room. There was also a washer/dryer in the suite. The outside wall was circular and had floor to ceiling windows all around with a wrap around balcony. More than enough room for us. Some of the suite details were dated (the rug was stretched out in places, the lamps were wobbly, the closet doors often swung off the runners) but the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. Bathroom towels and supplies were more than ample.
Many amenities are not included in the room rate. Wi-fi is available in the lobby for free but in the room it is an additional $9.95/nt. Valet parking, which is $27/nt without gratuity, is required by the town (there is no self parking and there is no place to park on the local streets so if you have a car you must use the valet). The towels for the pool and beach are free for use (as long as you return them) but beach lounge chairs, umbrellas and/or cabanas are only available to you if you pay a fee. We billed these items to our room and found that the bill included a gratuity. There is an on site Market where you can get snacks and there is an on site Spa where you can get a pretty good 1 hour massage (when you get the bill it will include an additional 18% gratuity). There is also a salon and restaurant both of which we did not use.
All staff in the main lobby, housekeeping, market, spa, valet and pool/beach area were attentive and professional. It was truly a relaxing wonderful time for us.
Across the street from the hotel, and within walkikng distance, there are many shops and restaurants. There are also several public parks within walking distance with playground equipment, walking tracks or beach access.

recently stayed in one bedroom suite with balcony. The room was clean, not extremely modern but well maintained, the staff very kind, the manager Galina went out of her way to solve any problem.
The only problem that i found : the pool does not have enough chairs for everybody, people go early reserve a seat and don´t use them, so lot´s of times there wasn,t any available.
