Coming from the UK I had looked at the reviews of this hotel with growing concern but have to say that the experience I and my wife had was on the whole pretty good. Yes, there were some general criticisms but these really only applied at the weekends when the hotel was full.
We stayed for 2 weeks at the begining of August. We were originaly going to have a car but prior to leaving discovered the cost of valet parking and so cancelled it. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and had the desk staff to ourselves. These were very helpful and polite and upgraded us to a sea view room without any problems. Generally all the staff were friendly and polite even though the hotel is going through some major changes. Then room was clean which was one thing that had worried us. Really the only time we had any reason to complain was at the weekends. Hundreds of conventioners descend on the hotel and I think this is when they find it difficult to cope but if you are prepared to be patient - something I think British do well - then it's fine. My complaint was not with the hotel but with rude Latin American guests, there for a Salsa Convention. They thought it quite OK to shout at each other down the corridor at 3.00 am with no consideration for fellow guests.

I had a few minor problems which when addressed were corrected. I had noisy neighbours on my last night but security took care of it. I was overcharged on a daily basis but the front desk corrected it. Housekeeping was kinda slow. Room service charges a bit much. HOWEVER, I enjoyed my room with the pool & ocean view. I enjoyed the pool and beach. I enjoyed the food at Coconut Willies. My children LOVED Cookie's World and Kid's Cove where they had special treatment from Steve. They LOVED the beach and they LOVED the hotel in general. Felt so secure with all the security present at all times. I believe that I got a bargain for the price paid. I would stay again.

My Wife and I booked into the Fontainebleau as I had heard a lot of good things about it but it was a big mistake. First the Front Desk Said there were no rooms available even though I had printed out my Reservation number form Expedia !
I said to my wife 'we're out of here' but then the guy at the desk said he would find us a room !
The next rude awakening is the forced valet parking where they want you to jump out of your car get all of your stuff and get lost in less than 30 seconds as there is limited place for incoming cars.
YOU have to call for a valet person to get your car every time you need to get something out of it (and tip them) and we made the mistake of leaving a large jar of coins used for tolls in the car and do I have to tell you what happened ? No there was only a few coins left in the bottom of the big container when we finally left the place..
The one nice thing about this hotel was the show and you did not have to leave the hotel to see it and the prices there were reasonable and service very good.
The beach was very nice, the rooms nice but the ocean is very, very far away from the hotel you can see it in the distance but not an ocean front by any means and you can't open the windows to hear the ocean sound...
While I was on the beach some people got caught in rip tides and were pulled futher and further out and no one from the hotel was anywhee in sight to assist them !
People from the beach were attempting to helop but it took a full 25-30 minutes before an ambulance/rescue team arrived..
Needless to say it will be the last time I ever go to the fontainbleau hotel !

I recently stayed for a weekend at the Fontainebleau on the penthouse floor. The staff was very friendly and the location was ideal. We wondered though why so many people stayed on the property's pools when the beach was a few steps from the hotel. I had a great view of the ocean and beach from my balcony. The bed was fairly comfortable compared to my bed at home, a tempurpedic. I would definitely go back.

My husband, my two kids (11 and 13) and I went there for the weekend. The check inn was fine, we got the room earlier at 1:00 PM. We stayed at the new tower, the studio is new with new furntures but he coffe maker was very dirty, with old coffee. After checking in we went to the pool, it was so crowded, they did not have any chairs available for us to sit and no towels. Can you imagine that at 1:30 PM there were no more towels and chairs for the guests to use by the pool? This is not acceptable. We decided to go to the beach, and guess what? Same thing, no chairs, no towels and no umbrellas available. We decided then to rent a waverunner, guess what? They told us we had to wait for 3 hours to get one. How could we stay at the beach for 3 hours to wait for a waverunner, without a chair, an umbrella or towels? We did not stay. We then went to the 7 th floor pool of the new tower, where it was less crowded. At night, we decided to go to the pool, but did not stay either, because we were disgusted with all the dirty plates, cups and towels from the day that the hotel staff did not pick up. It was far from what my family and I were expecting from a hotel this price, very crowded, dirty and not pleasant at all. If after you read the reviews you decide to stay, at least stay at the new tower, although you will have to walk more to get to the restaurant but at least you will have access to the 7th floor pool which is cleaner and less crowded. I would not stay there again as I expect much more of a hotel if you are paying USD 269 a night for a studio, plus tax it came up to USD 303. You will also have to pay for parking, which is USD 24 a day. So, a night stay at the studio at the new tower, costed us USD 327 a night. I guess you can find a much better hotel for this price. Good luck. SB.
