“Location, location, location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Staying at the Fountainebleau Miami Beach was a chance of a lifetime. We were there for the Orange Bowl and had a special package through a university. The room was quite small for four of us and did not seem anything special to me. The service was good, not extraordinary. The grounds and room very clean. But the location! Beautiful. Wonderful pool, access to beach was exceptional. Employees friendly and accomodating. Security very good. Large property. Some of us in our party given rooms in different parts/towers of hotel even though we were supposed to be together. That is my major complaint about our stay. We asked to be moved but were not able to be moved to be with our party. Very disappointing. All in all, beautiful venue. Food and drinks very expensive. Close to Walgreens and other stores so could walk to get soda, water, etc. Charges added up fast. Between steep charge for overnight parking, extra charge for pool access and wifi and a paper (which you picked up at the front desk)...it is expensive. But I will remember my stay there always.

Room Tip: There is a wide range of rooms....some have great views, some have refrigerators, some are quite sma...

“Pretty impressive and perfect for a short break...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We stayed at the Fontainebleau before Christmas and boy is it impressive!!! The place is immaculate, beautiful interiors and the rooms are amazing- not to mention the comfiest beds ever! The pool area was really nice (and warm water), easy access to the beach, sun beds, towels, iced water etc... A little far away from Lincoln Road and shops/restaurants if you're wanting to be able to walk for dinner etc it's about a 10minute taxi (which is fine if you're only there a few nights). Food etc didn't seem too overpriced (not that we ate there- they have loads to choose from including a cafe and a smoothie bar, but it's all rather self contained- would probably suggest staying on South beach (art deco district) if you're looking for a bit if a buzz and more than a pool/beach holiday in Miami... overall it was perfect for our 3 days there!

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Went to the hotel for a christmas vacation for a week with my family (mom and dad, my brother his wife and two kids and my three kids)
As we go to the front desk for check-in it turns out they had my room to get in the next day I had my reservation print and it clearly said Saturday December 22nd. and they keep telling me their system showed Sunday December 23rd. after half hour they said it was fixed and gave me a room at the Versailles tower, you have to walk through empty hallways and the convention center to get to this building, it is like you are in another property, really there is nothing but empty space between the lobby and the elevators.
We got to the room and it is very clean and nice but the bathroom is very small (Holiday inn bathrooms are bigger than this) if you open the glass door of the shower and somebody opens the bathroom door they crash (happened to me twice with my small kids) very dangerous stuff.
I tried to get my room changed but the only answer I got was that they were fully booked.

The pool area is great and the kids pool with the slide even better, we rented a cabana on the 24th. in the kids pool area and told David (the guy that manages the cabanas) that we wanted it for the next day (December 25th.) He came back and said he "worked his magic to get it" because all the cabanas were sold out. So it happens the next day none of the four cabanas in the kids pool were taken and half the cabanas around the main pool were empty. He was just lying to get a tip and I don't think that kind of attitude should be allowed in this kind of property.

The Hotel has a nightclub in the main lobby and trying to get to the valet at night is impposible, they treat the guests the same way as the people coming to the nightclub, one day we made a 30 minutes line. This really has to change.

Service people were very attentive of our needs (bellmans, pool waiter, beach staff) particulary Carlos Mena (bellman) was very nice

Overall I think this hotel is overrated and pricey, for my next trip to Miami I will shop for another hotel

Room Tip: Do not accept a room at the versailles tower

“New Years trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

We arrived for the Orange Bowl & New Years celebration. Although we have been to Miami several times this was our first time at the Fontainebleau and the Front Office Supervisor efficiently made sure we would be pleased with the accommodations. We were very comfortable in a Bayside Jr. Suite. We loved the size of the room, the views of the bay and the city of Miami and, most of all, that long spans of windows.
We found everything at the hotel to be of the highest quality and the service from all hotel staff was excellent. The Mac PC in the room was also a great touch and very convenient.
We will return to the Fontainebleau in the future.

Room Tip: Try for the inside towers with balconies.
