My friend and I took a last minute trip to Miami over July 4 weekend. We hustled to find a good hotel deal, and I found a special rate for The Shore Club through priceline. I normally can't afford to stay there, but priceline rate was $186/night. While this sounds great for the location, they do charge quite a bit of tax on top of the advertised nightly rate (tax was an additional $24 a night) when you check-in. They also wanted to charge us a security deposit of something like $120 a night on top of everything else! We got out of the security deposit charges because priceline doesn't mention it when you book online.
Anyway, we stayed 4 nights and had a lovely time. I had been to South Beach a few times before, so I knew that hotels on Collins Ave are prime real estate, as they are right on the beach. That said, unless you like the club scene, July 4 weekend is not the best time to stay there. They have DJs playing very loud and bad music by the pool all weekend from 11am - 6pm (imagine a NYC dance club but outside by the pool). This was not the case during the Monday that we stayed. My friend and I skipped the pool (which is actually really beautiful - see attached pics) and went straight to the beach. You can lounge on the chairs and they rent umbrellas for around $15 or $20 per day. Just be prepared to be ripped off by the food truck called Cafe Portofino ($8 for a hot dog!). Another great perk at the hotel are the free bikes. You just have to sign up for one with the concierge. I highly recommend biking on the beach path towards Lincoln Rd.
The room and bathroom were very clean and neat but rather small (see attached pics). Staff was very nice but we honestly didn't spend much time in the hotel and definitely didn't eat there (too expensive).
A highly recommended and beautiful place to stay but definitely expensive.
