“chillin' in Miami Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Great location, lots of dining options, pool, and beach. plenty of chaise lounges and comfy hideaway spots to chill. Terrazza was a wonderful spot for lunch. The boutique vibe is what the Shore Club is trying to achive --- the room decor was sparse and modern, lots of white and concrete. The white and concrete, spa tone was continued throughout the lobby as well. It was actually nice especially with the ocean view from the guestroom.

2 minor feedback items - 1) shower did not have a practical place to place my bath products while in the shower. 2) not a convenient place to plug my phone near the bed.

All in all I would recommend the Shore Club to others who want to enjoy all that Miami Beach has to offer.

Many thanks for this amazing review! We are a boutique hotel with lots of white color in the guest rooms and a chic Mexican sandstone on the floors. I am glad you enjoyed dining at our delicious Italian restaurant, Terrazza! The famous British architect David Chipperfield designed our hotel and he did not include a place to hold the bath products in our showers but that is something we are looking into! Thanks for the feedback! See you hopefully again soon.

If your looking for a good time in Miami this is the place to be. Good atmosphere, great staff and located in the middle of everything. Enjoy the pool or the beach - great scene. Simple decor but Shore Club gets to the point - having fun and that's what Miami is all about.

This was our first trip to South Beach so it was mostly luck that took us to the Shore Club for our two day getaway. Its in the northern part of South Beach, closer to the ocean than hotels further south. Also close to Lincoln where most of the outdoor dining is located.
At the Shore Club the beach is just a few steps beyond the gate at the end of the pool. Part of the beach is firmly packed and great for walking, which we did late in the afternoon for exercise. Closer to the ocean the beach is perfect for sunning and sand castles.
Every member of the Shore Club staff was courteous and knowledgeable.
Valet service was prompt and included helpful directions for getting back to the airport.
Brunch was excellent -- good assortment of freshly baked pastries and fresh fruit, excellent sausage, perfect scrambled eggs.
We had a room that overlooked the pool and beach. Great anytime, but especially great for us because we were there near the full moon and got a dramatic view of the moon rising at sunset and reflecting off the water.

Your review of Shore Club has got to be one of my favorites! Thank you for this lovely description and details of the courteous staff, knowledgeable valet, and delicious brunch. How romantic to be looking out into the full moon from your room! Hope you come back again soon... but for longer than just 2 days!

Great location, comfy bed, room a little small for two, but nice big bathroom and huge shower. Most of the staff are excellent, good beach service, good service by the pool, bellmen always when you need them, excellent conciege. Little pricey on the drinks, but not any different than any other SOBE hotel, fun scene at the pool, beautiful gardens, quiet spots for drinks. Diverse crowd, couples, youngsters, families (a few).

We staid at the Shore Club for a week. We rented a bangalo and it was great! We found wine and fruit in the room to welcome us and everything was very clean and tidy.
Plenty of towels, slippers and bathroom facilities.
The bed was very comfy, the room was cleaned every day and the pool towels provided with the room were changed every day.
Sunbeds around the pool and on the beach were comfy and the staff was always nice.
Would go back.

WOW is all I can say... I can't think of anything better than to be sipping on some delicious wine and fruit while lounging in our poolside Bungalows!

I was there for a business incentive trip and made a return trip a month later with my wife. The pool is warm and welcoming, the beach is clean and comfortable, and the staff is by far the friendliest around. The rooms are comfortable and clean, but you tend not to spend much time there. Nobu is in the building - is there a better restaurant - and the pool area transforms into a South Beach venue with potent cocktails and a social atmosphere. It is perfectly located for a great South Beach experience - a few blocks from Lincoln Road and other South Beach hot spots. It is not cheap, but neither is the service you get. Say hi to Reo the concierge when you walk in - he will sort you out for reservations and fill you in on the hot spots. The folks at the check-in counter are all about service. And the pool and beach staff are there to make you feel like you are on vacation - which you are at The Shore Club.

Room Tip: Worth upgrading to Ocean View

This property is pleasant, but there are several qualities about it that have made my stay there a disappointment--well, "stays" really: in November/the off-season, the hotel is quieter and the experience nicer. So, this is a hotel where the atmosphere changes with the seasons. The first time I stayed here it was a tropical drizzle of low-key enjoyment. That was in the late fall/early winter. The next time, it was the middle of summer and the experience made me never want to go back. Here's why--and they both deal with atmosphere:

1) The noise/scene: If you are looking for clubbing at your hotel, then this is a good choice, I suppose, as they do have a club there. However, if you want to club elsewhere and then retreat to your hotel OR you are not interested in clubbing, this set-up is a big problem: It means that after 10 p.m., the nature of the hotel morphs into, well, a club (it is "The Shore CLUB," to be fair). It further means that if you want a drink outside in the latter half of the evening, you have to fight clusters of clubbers to get it. Finally, it means that if you want or need to turn in before 2 a.m., it's going to be a challenge because of the incredibly loud bass tones produced by the club. In short, if you want that kind of thing, it's fine, but if you're not interested, it is a bother and restricts access to the outdoor bar and even your balcony!

2) The alcoholic beverage situation is completely unreasonable. I like to have silly cocktails in these situations, but a pina colada was over $20! That's not the worst, though. The drinks are expensive and they must be watered down. I'm not an epic drinker, but I could have probably had cocktail after cocktail and not worked up a healthy buzz.

3) There's a great outdoor setting with a garden and pool and these diaphonous fabric open tents. It's very romantic, but if you take a look at the pillows in the light of day they are...dirty. It makes me think of who thought it was "romantic" before me and what they did about it.

4) The beach-ware is ridiculous to rent. I'm used to paying for equipment at a certain level, but usually, when a hotel purports to be what this one does, the beach accessories are free (included in the reckoning of the room, I'm sure, but they save you the embarassment of money changing hands to rent equipment!).

5) The staff runs hot and cold, relatively capable and completely useless. Sometimes, there's a polite, able individual on hand. The rest of the time...goodness! I lost a key card and needed a new one AND wanted to change the credit card on the room. Apparently that was impossible, a Herculean task. Enough said.

Of course, there were less negative aspects to this hotel: the rooms are beach-friendly granite/stone with lovely bath tubs, the beach outside is nice if you fancy Miami beaches (I'm a Pacific Ocean native so...), the decor can be considered attractive. The restaurants were once hip, now boring, but still solid. In short, it is not a disaster, but unless you have a specific agenda that ivolves clubbing at your hotel and then collapsing there, I would look elsewhere.

Room Tip: If you don't want to be disrupted by very loud music, ask the staff for a room as far away from...

Dear "LifeofThings,"

Thank you for your honest feedback, we are so sorry you did not have an amazing time with us. Shore Club is known for being a lively hotel and many of our guests come here to experience the atmosphere and nightlife that the hotel has to offer. We apologize you were disturbed by the noise and we do offer our guests the option of staying in a quieter part of the hotel. We also recently completed a full replacement of our windows and they are now sound proof. Next time you check in, please contact me directly and I will be happy to make sure you are in a high floor on the quiet part of the hotel. I am sorry you did not enjoy our atmosphere of the garden area and I can assure you that our drinks are competitively priced with other hotels in South Beach. It is standard on Miami Beach to charge a fee for certain beach services. I hope to be able to welcome you back in the near future, please contact me directly dj.hicks@mhgc.com

Kind Regards,
Dorothy Jean "DJ"
