I very rarely give a place 5 stars but after checking out of the clevelander hotel this morning I left with a feeling of pure joy (and sadness to be leaving)
Where to start?!
-The Good-
Extremely friendly staff at every turn. It's as if only cool, good looking people are employed. From the receptionists to the waiters to security and even the night concierge when we stroll in at 5am. We knew many by name by the end of the 5 night stay. It was really like a home away from home!
Every request was dealt with efficiently and free of charge. For example, most nights we ordered limes and a bucket of ice to go with our shop bought liquor (cheaper option opposed to the overpriced drinks on the strip) it arrived to our room immediately with cups and straws to boot.
My friend ordered a coffee and they just smiled and said "don't even worry about it" when she asked how much it was.
On the last night we were so hungover, that we requested we sleep in a bit rather than check out at 11am, and they didn't mind one bit. Nor did they charge for the 2 hour extra lie in we took after check out time.
Also, whenever we requested our room be clean, they didn't hesitate to call up room service and provide fresh towels, linens and give the room a once over...
Location-wise, this hotel is in the best place. Bang in the middle of ocean drive. A stones throw from south beach, 10 blocks from trendy nikki beach (a must go for Sunday brunch and Sunday night raving), a walk away from shops and great restaurants (española way food is amazing) and downtown Miami is only a 10 minute drive.
The hotel itself hosted many of its own lovely nights. Never a dull moment.
A few reviews complained that the hotel was too noisy and the earplugs provided had to be used. I disagree. We had a pool view room and despite the music being on from morning till 5am, it never bothered us once.
The room seemed to block out most the noise.
I could go on and on about how much we loved staying at this hotel, but I'm sure you get the drift. If you're looking for a fun holiday in Miami then this is the place to be!
Definitely worth the extra £s for location and atmosphere.
-The Bad-
Teensiest criticism would be that the food wasn't the best, but you have to get away from ocean drive for good food anyway; try their sister hotel Japanese restaurant round the corner, though. Delicious.
