“GREAT STAY, BEST 5 DAYS I HAD IN A LONG TIME.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago via mobile

GREAT PLACE, IV BEEN TO SOUTH BEACH OVER A DOZEN TIMES AND THE CARLTON IS ONE OF THE BEST PLACES, Especially for the $$ (I've stayed there 4 times) GREAT, PERSONABLE, SERVICE (Amin the bartender is an awesom character; - he would address me 'VIVA CHICAGO" as a friendly greeting when I passed by, even if I wasnt buying a drink at the time, CJ and Naomi at the front desk are very personable and professional, as is the whole staff) U CANT BEAT THE LOCATION..... , AND FOR THE HOTEL'S ALLEGED SHORTCOMINGS...... Nobody will ever confuse the Carlton with a 5 star resort, but SOBE IS NOT THE VEGAS OR CANCUN STRIP....... a five star resort-type place is not the quinticential SOBE experience, that is what adds to the SOBE cache..... I REALLY WONDER IF PEOPLE WHO HAVE MADE NEGATIVE COMMENTS KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN VISITING SOBE..... smaller older hotels is what it is..... and alot of them suck!.....THE CARLTON IS A NICE CLEAN PLACE.....WITH A NICE PRIVATE POOL, A RARE COMMODITY IN SOBE.... U can also lounge out on a comfy chair in front of the hotel and people-watch as the masses of walkers, weirdos : ), and vehicles pass by thru the day and night..... SOBE has a few resorts, but expect to pay $400-600 per night, especially in season, ..... U GET OUTSTANDING VALUE AT THE CARLTON.... AND YOU CANNOT BEAT THE LOCATION

Great location, rooms spacious and bed surprisingly comfortable. However I feel the negatives far outweigh the positives.
Walls are paper thin, you could hear your neighbours shenanigans all through the night. The room amenities listed a mini bar, it did not exist at all not even a fridge. Phone didn't work, iPod Dock didn't work. No towels in the room upon check in, annoying when you go to have a shower late at night and find no towel! Front desk staff seem bored. My partner asked for a taxi one evening to get to the miami heat game. Taxis did not answer so the guy behind the desk just told us to hail one down. I went and asked if there were any other ways of getting to the arena as it was impossible to get a taxi and he told me no, he couldn't think of any other way (there is a bus FYI). Seemed too lazy to care. Bag storage is just behind their desk, not exactly secure. And finally a camera was definitely left in the safe, along with (I think) a phone. It took 2 emails for me to even get a response from the hotel and the response was sorry not found! Not sure what has happened to the camera now but I hope someone is enjoying it! Overall, I would not stay here again. Price is embarrassingly over the top and the service is worse than that I have received in 1 star hostels in South America.

To start with, the hotel has advertised "lush tropical gardens, super sized swimming pool with sun
loungers." He super sized pool was the regular hotel size and many areas of missing cement on the bottom. The half dozen palm trees and a few planters are not my idea of lush tropical. The pool is situated next to the laundry are and the housekeeping staff has to bring the bags of dirty linen through the pool area to access the rear service drive. There were no pool towels available because one of the dryers broke and they could not replenish. Needless to say we had to drip dry after using the pool. We were charged a "resort fee" but not exactly sure what that covered. Our first room was located in a corner area that was surrounded by the lobby, parking lot and Collins St. The noise was unbelievable. Shades would not close all the way. The front desk staff was very nice and accommodated our request for a room change. The next room was on the third floor but was still a corner room on Collins St. A little quieter, but not much. The room was clean, but old and had a mismatch of furniture. One of the stated room amenities was a mini bar that was totally non existent. The bed was a worn mattress on some type of frame to eliminate a box spring. I guess this was their version of "Art Deco". It was so sagging in the middle that you had to sleep in the very outer edges or you rolled to the middle. There were coffee cups and packets for making coffee but no coffee maker. They did provide one once we asked. Water pressure was so bad it would take forever to get shampoo out of your hair The property is in need of obvious repair and updating which has not been done. The location is very convenient for exploring the Ocean Drive nightlife and to the beach. The hotel is on the corner of Espanola and Collins just one block away from some wonderful restaurants. Realizing that most hotels in South Beach are very expensive this was very overpriced for how they describe the hotel in their ads. Do not recommend the Carlton Hotel South Beach.

I would definitely recommend this place!
It is very good quality place for the money, location is just great, rooms clean and service very friendly. Especially CJ – front desk person, was so knowledgeable and helpful. It was great pleasure to stay!
Me and my husband had amazing time during the stay and all stuff were extremely helpful on every matter.

The Carlton is about a five minute walk away from the beach on one side, and a five minute walk to the car and club scene on the other. Despite all that, the rooms are very quiet during the day. The location is great and everyone there is very relaxed and pretty helpful. The rooms are really airy and big, and there's a nice bar in the lobby that during the day services blended juices. It was perfect for what we were looking for.

The check in wass perfect, but the rooms deserve renovation and room service must be improved (3 hours to get towels in the bathroom!). No double glazing in all rooms, plumbing must date from the 60s ....
