Checked in the room. Room & closet smelled of mildew & wet dog. Mold on shower curtain. Fuzzy TV. Rained through the sealed window. Room was extremely small. We were moved to a better room which made our stay more comfortable. The location was perfect. We walked just about everywhere. Keep in mind the "Art Deco" area is very old. Original 1930 structures. All the hotels in this area are very old.

I must say after reading many many reviews I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I stayed at the Carlton with 2 of my girlfriends. Honestly, the entire staff from the front desk staff to the managers were wonderful. They all went out of their way to help us get whatever we needed. Yes, it is true that the rooms are small and the hotel isn't immaculate like some five star resort, but it is a great place to stay. The air worked wonderfully, and the pool was great. The towels provided were clean and fresh each day. The beds were extremely comfortable and clean (which is most important to me). My only complaint was the lack of mirrors. For 3 girls trying to get ready, it was difficult, but we did our best. The Carlton is in a great location. It is only a block from the beach and a few blocks from great nightlife. For what you pay, you do get good value.

It is a bit of a shame that the attitude of the staff ruined what could have otherwise been a really pleasant stay. The place has so much potential (it has a very cute interior and it is located just one block from the beach) yet due to its staff I would rate it lower than I would have otherwise.

The staff was very unprofessional during my check-in, shouting loudly to each other and hardly ever making eye contact with me. They just handed me my keys and dismissed me. Later on, my wife called the hotel and asked to be connected to my room, yet they failed to do so on 3 occasions, after which they decided to hang up on her instead of trying to figure out what the problem was. She eventually got hold of me through my friend's cell phone (which was international and thus very expensive to call for both parties) and told me what was going on. I went to the reception and explained that I was expecting a call in my room and that I would really appreciate if they found a way to connect the call to my room. However the receptionist simply said "uh-huh" and walked away. Needless to say I did not manage to receive a call in my room that night.

With regard to the rooms there isn't much to say. They are reasonably sized and fairly clean, even though the bathroom had a certain "musty" smell. During the night it got noisy outside our window but this is to be expected in a party place like Miami Beach. The location of the hotel is perfect for those that want easy access to the beach and the bars/clubs of Ocean Drive.

I had a great time in Miami Beach but I wish that the Carlton started training its staff at how to be professional. Only then will it live up to its potential.

I am highly pissed and upset at this Motel. Me and my cousin booked hotel for vacation which has been much needed, so once we finely arrived we were at complete Awe of this Hotel. The pictures are very misleading. Not only is the lobby the size of a studio apartment, we watched the lady at the bar spraying roach spray. I could have just cried, the carpet is nasty, and there are spots all over the linean in the room.. We book Motel Carlton through Book It.com and I am about to call and complain. If we hadn't driven for almost 19 hours we would just go back home.. Please do not come here, I actually hear the people next door and across the hall arguing... SMDH
