“Updated Art Deco in Good Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2011

I can't say enough about this property!

We wanted oceanfront, art deco, close to South Beach, and affordable (by Miami standards) and this hotel was perfect.

We were five minutes from South Beach by car but removed from the craziness and hustle bustle of nightlife on Ocean Drive. Yet, the surrounding area was not deserted like some other areas more north on Collins Ave. There was an eat- in deli across the street, other hotels nearby, and a nice buzz of people and taxis coming and going. We felt totally safe in this area in both day and night.

With this location on Collins Avenue and 39th St., you are also about two blocks from Arthur Godfrey Road which easily puts you on 95 going north or south so it's a good jumping off point to other areas.

We had an oceanfront room with a small balcony and an incredible view of the ocean, beach, and gorgeous pool area. The room was very clean, updated, and yet I still got the art deco "feel" from the shower curtain print to the color choice of bed linens.

We enjoyed lunches on the beach or by the pool from the in-house restaurant, Carrabas. The food was excellent and the delivery person was prompt and pleasant. In fact, all service personnel at this hotel couldn't have been nicer or more helpful from the front desk staff to the valet parking attendants.

We did have to pay for beach chairs and umbrellas which resulted in an extra $50 per day charge for our family. It seems there is a company called Blue Fin set up on the beach that provides this service, not the hotel. However, we were able to put the charges on our hotel bill and considering that the average price of our room in season was around $350, we weren't complaining. We were enjoying the same beach and sun as others in more expensive nearby properties.

I remember this property from years ago as The Cadillac Hotel. It was nice to see the sign was still displayed and that Marriott has embraced the hotel's art deco past but updated it for the present. .We knew we would be pleased choosing a Marriott and we were not disappointed!

We would definitely stay here again on another trip to Miami Beach!

Dear Reviewer:

I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay with us, it appears that you stayed in an Oceanfront Room on a lower floor. We try to assign the best rooms possible to our guests but we can't ignore the fact that we lower floors and we need to occupy those rooms as well. Although rates a high in season, without looking at your reservation I would not be able to see if we failed to provide the type of room that you booked, and if we have I would be glad to make any necessary adjustments. Please contact me at the hotel if you would like to provide further details.

We stayed at the Courtyard February 10 and 11th before going on a cruise. It was better than I expected and I had read previous reviews which were positive. Location was perfect and hotel was very well maintained. Great beach, the boardwalk for exercise and exploration, surfside bar with salads and sandwiches and views, and the convenient Carrabas restaurant in the hotel all combined for a great stay. Breakfast was average, but convenient. We were upgraded to an oceanview room which helped make this a perfect stay.

We stayed at Courtyard Miami Beach Oceanfront during New Years weekend. We found the hotel to be clean, up to date, and in a pretty good location. The beach and boardwalk are just a few steps away. The staff was very nice and helpful. We booked a few excursions through the hotel with no problems. We also liked the breakfast buffet and thought the price was reasonable. It was too cold to swim ( in our opinion) but the pool looked great.

The hotel was arranged as a meeting place for friends and extended family for a pre-wedding rehearsal dinner and pre-cruise meeting point. the staff was excellent, the desk staff was personal, the pool staff was fun,all staff was friendly and informed, efficient, and responsive to all requests. The hotel is well situated for transit to/from Miami airport and the Port of Miami cruise terminal. Also well positioned for miami Beach fun/sun/ South beach restaurant row and historic district and shopping. A short cab ride or even easy public transit is available at the front door. If you want to rent a car,go one block south to Dollar at the mosaic center. But priceline/hotwire a car before you need it. The parking rate at the hotel is reasonable for South Beach with in/out privileges. The beach is accessed through the pool area and the boardwalk is great for walking exercise. It would be nice if sand chairs and umbrellas were more reasonable or a flat fee for the stay with in/out privileges like the car. $10 a pop for every chair and umbrella, every day, every time for every person is a financial challenge for a family. I believe the hotel could work on this problem and come up with a fee package for unlimited use like the parking linked to your room key and hotel stay. I would like to thank the hotel for all their efforts to make the pre-wedding easy and memorbable. I will definitely stay at this hotel if we return to South Beach and recommend it to our friends.

Stayed at the Courtyard for a couple of nights. We were able to use points and were also upgraded to an ocean view room. The view was very nice and the room was fine. All the staff were very nice and helpful. The beach is large and gets lots of sun. It also was very easy access from the hotel. I didn't like the prices for the chairs and the umbrella on the beach, I can understand a charge, but $10 and $15 dollars seems a little high. The pool looked nice, but we went to the beach instead.

We had lunch at the Tiki Bar which was good, but very expensive. That seems to be pretty common around that entire area. The bar's happy hour was a more appropriate price for cocktails and beer. There is a liquour store next door so we took our own beer on the beach.

The hotel is also on the boardwalk so we could walk into SoBe. The walk was a little long, but it didn't hurt us to walk off some of our food and the weather was nice so it was a pleasant stroll. I would stay here again.

The Courtyard Marriot is a decent but not outstanding hotel in a fabulous location. The room was big & clean but the hotel overall felt a teeny bit run-down. However it's right on the beach and in a neighborhood where you can actually find parking, so if you get a good rate it's a find.

Kinda wish we'd used our Marriot Rewards points towards the Eden Roc just down the street though!

Thank you very much for staying with us and for your review. Indeed our biggest asset is the spectacular beach right in front of the hotel, but we also pride ourselves in the service, cleanliness and comfort of our rooms as you also mentioned. I am glad to inform that the public areas will undergo renovations in the next couple of months with the implementation of the Courtyard Refreshing Business Program, with new lobby furniture, restaurant, business center and the addition of a Starbucks Kiosk. That will most definitely change the image of the hotel while still maintaining its personality with the beautiful Art Deco architecture. Please check us out again this spring and you will not be disappointed.
