“Best kept secret in South Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Just returned from my third stay at the Shelborne - wouldn't consider booking anywhere else! From the welcoming lobby, accommodating, staff, convenient location, and room's sophisticated decor (and beautiful view) - to the nice, young man carrying our bags and hailing a taxi as we departed, my daughter and I couldn't have been more pleased.

Continental breakfast has been upgraded since my last stay (very nice), and property enhancements continue (still hoping for a wall shelf in the bathroom :)

Visiting with friends at other Miami Beach hotels, and comparing prices/amenities, affirms my choice. Can't wait to return!

My stay here was a very unpleasant one. Had it not been for the a very nice gentleman at the front desk. I would've gone mad. The managers are never too be found. The housekeepers never have the rooms prepared. There is a useless bar downstairs because its never open. Who ever is running this place does not know what they are doing. They need to invest more time in this hotel instead of the one they built right across the street "the gale " The shelborne has potential. They just need new management.

Stayed here twice so far once for miami music conference and once over New Year, its got the perfect facilities i just feel the rooms lets it down. The food, bars, pool, music etc is all amazing, as is the location, the private beach area is lovely as are the staff.

Best room would be 608, but dont go with 730 - its right by the lift and very noisy to the point even with ear plugs i couldnt sleep and was awoken throughout the night.

This hotel is amazing to go for a party, but not for a relazing quiet week away.

Room Tip: Dont choose a room by a lift, 608 is a great room with a balcony looking onto the sea. make sure you...

I stayed at the Shelborne hotel 2 times in December, for the Art basel week and later. I really enjoyed my stay there. The service was great, the rooms were really comfortable and full of space. Second time I was there I got a really marvellous room over looking the ocean. The pool and the beach were really nice and comfortable. The price was really reasonable cause for a hotel that has a pool and beach in Miami it is absolutely not expensive. The staff in the hotel was great, very professional, specially Addy at the desk was really helpfull! Very great stay and Shelborne, I definitely reccomend it to everybody and i ll go back there again when I go back to Miami.

I brought in this New Years at the Shelbourne, this hotel is great, very sleek and modern. I loved the room I stayed in, which had a beautiful view of the pool. The staff are very pleasant, Addy helped me at the front desk when I checked in and was very helpful throughout my stay, making sure my time there was a lovely experience. I highly recommend this hotel, as it's really trend and has great staff.

Too bad that the heroic efforts of the staff can't overcome the basic infrastructure failings of this well-located hotel: dirty rooms, filthy hallway carpeting, scuffed woodwork, leaky windows, no space for toiletries on sink and no vanity or shelf nearby, missing towels, gap at shower glass so floor gets wet, drawer pulls missing or easily detached, shiny but totally useless lobby, uncomfortable beds, noisy mini-bar, no towels at poolside ("they'll be here later today" - so what did we pay the resort fee for?)...the list goes on. Friends staying in another room had to move to another hotel because the dust in the rug and room activated asthma attacks (housekeeping doesn't vacuum - they sweep the rugs. Yes, sweep the rugs.) The food ordered from the menu (Lucy's Cantina, and the main restaurant) was pretty good but at the Cantina it took forever to arrive.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

Art Decco weekend doesn't get any better than having a hotel right on the Sand and an easy walk down the Beach Walk between the hotels and beach. The newly renovated Shelborne turned out to be the new Hot Spot in South Beach and the new Taco Bar open to the public in the garden area at the rear of the property off the Beach Walk had a 1/2 price Happy Hour on their frozen coctails that couldn't be beat.

The new King Size jacuzzi next to the water feature was a nice improvement since I was here last. The lounges around the jacuzzi was my favorite hang out and I ended up with more sun than I needed... OUch!

The new edge pool gives this the llok of the 5 star hotels but my favorite new addition was the new mezzanane deck for lying out and eye candy.

Don't get me wrong the new Lobby, shop and Lobby bar were a nice addition but I go for the beach pool and ocean.

I rented from a condo owner that had the best location on the property for chump change and now I can afford to go back more often.

Room Tip: Definately rent from a condo owner jt will be 1/2 the hotel rate.
