“Perfect stay for pre-cruise customers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2009

My family of four stayed her April 2009, prior to our cruise departure. It was absolutely gorgeous and right on Miami Beach. The staff was very courteous, polite ,professional and helpful. We had asked for early arrival check in (1:00 p.m.) and they they had us in our room by 2:00. They put our luggage in storage and we went for a short walk down the street to Subway for lunch. When we arrived at our room it was very, very nice. Beautiful , bold new colors were what we had expected to see in trendy Miami Beach and we were not dissappointed. We asked for an oceanview room and we had a great view of the Atlantic Ocean. No deck, but it gets a little breezy in the afternoons anyway.
The lobby area was very nicely decorated. The pool was a very good size with a large deck area. The rest of the grounds surrounding the ocean side of the hotel were very green and lush, with the boardwalk right alongside the property.
Our travel agent had found us a hotel out by the airport, but we felt with a full day to ourselves, we wanted to be near some scenery. So we went onto the internet and found Holiday Inn Oveanview. Fro the same $$$ we were right where we anted to be.
We walked both north and south on the boardwalk, which goes for miles. Walked onto the beach and out to the waters edge. Many larger, more luxurious resorts near by, so there was lots see within walking distance. We felt very safe on the streets, as we walked until 11:00 p.m.
Do not hesitate to chose this hotel. We would definitely come back of we were to stay for a week.

Some girlfriends and I stayed here for a few days this past weekend. It was a great time. I'll start with minor complaints: The room was a tad bit small, but who cares we were there to sleep only. The shower head was bad though, the water came out very hard! That was a problem since we took several showers a day.

All of the hotel photos are accurate. Everything looks just as pictured. The pool was very clean, and we often relaxed in the jacuzzi behind the Sheraton next door. The beach was in our backyard, and it is a better beach than the one in south beach.

The staff was extremely nice and everyone seemed happy all the time. The food and drinks were expensive, so we opted to eat elsewhere and to visit the happy hours on the strip and a liquor store so that we could mix our own drinks.

The strip was a short bus ride away for 2 bucks, or you could easily hop a cab right outside.

I would certainly stay here again. Oh, watch out for those cats, there are lots of cats that hang out at night!

This is basically an older, 3 star hotel, but because of the wonderful staff of this hotel, I give it a 4. Of course, the staff on its own, gets a 5.
Every single employee on the staff was friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out.
The rooms were quiet, large, clean, and well appointed. The pool was huge with plenty of chairs for everyone. Awesome beach right in the backyard. I think most people would need to have a rental car or take taxis as it is a little far from south beach.
The rooms do not have balconies where you can sit outside.
I would gladly stay there again even though a long walk from South Beach because of the amazing staff of this hotel.

The hotel is located at South Beach which is the most happening area of Miami..
Loved the pool.. it is big.. it has a small heated pool as well.
The rooms although not very spacious, are yet clean.. the bathrooms needed a makeover..
The paradise cafe had an excellent breakfast buffet.. it had a wide spread..
The blue parrot bar was different from other bars.. the ambiance was very good.. i would visit the bar every night ..

We recently went to Miami for a few day family getaway. I chose The Holiday Inn based on price and location - but was a little apprehensive since we prefer 4/5 star hotels. We were all pleasently surprised -- you would not think you were at a Holiday Inn.The rooms were clean and newly furnished, the lobby and pool area was also very nice. The best part was the staff, they were beyond helpful. I would totally go back.

This was a great hotel. My husband, our teenage son, our five year old son, and I stayed for two nights and wished we would have planned to stay longer. The lobby is spacious and inviting, complete with a bar, restaurant, and lots of comfortable seating. Due to my husband's platinum status we were upgrade to a suite free of charge, so we had lots of room and were very comfortable. The suite had a view of the ocean and the pool area. The pool area was great, complete with hammocks, and a tiki bar--watch out for the drink prices, though! My small (like 8 oz or less) mojito cost $12.50 and a can of soda was $3. There is a liquor/beer store just two blocks down the street, if you don't want to go broke at the bar. The beach and the boardwalk were adjacent to the pool area and all were wonderful. We walked the boardwalk down to Lincoln and it took us about 45 minutes, but we had a five year old along so we took the bus for $2 each on the way back, which was quick and easy. Had it just been my husband and me, we would have felt totally comfortable walking down and back to enjoy the South Beach nightlife and we are by no means fitness buffs. And, hey, you are walking alongside the ocean--you can't beat that. So, I thought the location was excellent--easily accessible to the action, yet far enough away to be safe and peaceful.

I book this hotel thru a travel agent really not knowing alot about it and was a little nervous when I read some of the reviews. I don't know what people were complaining about, this is a great hotel. The rooms are not huge, the view is fantastic (oceanfront). No balconies here, only windows, that was kind of a bummer but not a deal breaker by any means. We only ate breakfast there, the prices are a little high, but they are that way everywhere you go. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, everything you could possibly want.. The service at this hotel is top notch. Everyone spoke english, was polite, fast, efficient. no complaints at all. I read all of the bad reviews about the elevators, they must have fixed that because there was no problems there at all, we were on the 7th floor and never waited more than a minute or so for the elevator. The board walk is great, you can get alot of places walking along the board walk. The beach is clean and we found the best shells we have ever found at any other beach on Florida. We stayed in Miami vs Daytona to get away from the spring break partying crowd, and we sure did. Saw nothing but families having a great time. No college kids drinking and carrying on. Very diverse area. The walk to Lincoln St where there is alot of shopping and dinning is a little long, we took a cab there and walked back. Drinks in the hotel are pretty pricey, but we found most of the area is a little pricey, but its a vacation so who cares. I would really recommend you go to bayside market, its about a $22.00 cab ride one way, but lots to do there, shopping, dinning and we took a boat sightseeing cruise that was awesome. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.. great place to stay with your family. If your looking for a party palace, not your hotel.. If your taking your kids, or looking for a quiet, reasonably priced get away, this is your hotel.
