“Construction forever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

This property is being totally redone and I don't think it's even open for a stay. It's been going on for two years now and will probably continue for 2 more. Very slow going and lots of noise from 8 am to 5 pm. Most of the balconies are unusable. They also tore up the boardwalk and the access to the beach so you have to walk around several blocks before you can get to the ocean.

Room Tip: Southern and Northern facing rooms away from the pool are quieter.

Very nice rooftop and ground level pools, right on the beach, nice steakhouse, rooms are great. Only negatives are the renovation noise and it is the farthest point north I would stay on south beach without a car.

The Positive:
Our room was comfortably spacious as we had a corner king suite with and adjoining double room.

The Rooftop Pool is warm, has an amazing view, always has good music, and is away from the noise of construction. The staff at Rooftop is very friendly and helpful.

The Negative:
When we booked this hotel in November, we were led to believe that the construction we be complete by March. We found out a week before it was still under construction and that they would be closing the hotel in April for reconstruction. (Why inconvenience guest if you plan on closing the hotel anyway???) We wrote an email to the manager and were given a $50/night discount.

Upon checked in, the asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and told them we were there for a bachelorette weekend. They front desk agent and a big deal and promised to send up an amenity. We didn't ask for it, but once it was promised we were looking forward to it. Thank goodness, we didn't hold our breath, as we are back from our trip never receiving anything!

There was no shower head in the double room. We had to shower with a handheld wand.

You can't get food on the Rooftop until noon or drinks until 5pm.

You have to pay for the gym.

This hotel is absolutely HORRIBLE!! All of the hotel's balconies are closed for construction, there is non-stop JACK HAMMERS 7 days a week, and construction crews on the inside and outside of this hotel around the clock!! We stayed for 1 night, and then switched hotels. On the morning that we stayed, a construction worker peered into our room, and was watching us sleep. The shower FLOODED the bathroom and into our kitchen area. We tried to lounge at the pool hoping that it would some how be better and it absolutely was not. We left at 10am that morning. I emailed the GM and received a response telling me that we would get our money back for our stay, and we still have NOT.

Room Tip: Just stay at another hotel..

The hotel is closed for the final round of renovations but I was shocked at the price tag to stay when the hotel was under such loud, massive destruction. Like, workers in your window intrusions. But the hotel closed shortly after our stay and after hearing the plans, I'm sure the hotel will be re-open with a bang. Even under the pressure of ever-continuing complaints, the staff was really, really great.

I loved this hotel, the decor is very modern and cool. The rooms are extremely spacious and modern. The bed was huge and very comfortable, the bathrooms were beautiful. The pool is awesome and the hotel backs onto South Beach. The rooftop pool and bar are fantastic, the view is simply amazing by day and night. The hotel is in walking distance to the downtown area with shops and restaurants and within walking distance to loads of bars and clubs. The aquarium in the lobby is very cool. The staff were friendly and the room service was great. I cannot fault this hotel and if I get to go to Miami again I will definitely stay at the Perry!
