“Above and Beyond”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

Recently was part of a film crew that both stayed and shot at The Perry. I was always impressed with the degree of care and dedication the staff was in ensuring our good care here. The room I stayed in had a fabulous terrace that oversaw the gorgeous infinity pool and the ocean to the east. It was extremely spacious, spotlessly clean and tastefully appointed. The bathroom was similarly big and with double sinks and with a toasty warm shower. The bed and high quality linens made for nights of blissfully peaceful sleep.
Since this trip combined work within my stay I would have to make a special mention of Lisa (the Public Relations & Property Manager) at the Perry. She managed to beautifully balance the tightrope of accommodating the needs of our film crew while (rightfully so) maintaining the highest level of concern for the well-being and care of the guests there. Whenever we threw a request her way she provided a creative solution; always with a smile and warmth that so often these days seem to be missing from so many in the service business. What was all the more impressive was she seamlessly pulled this off during a busy holiday week while fully embracing the challenges this presented. While the easier answer to any request could have always been, “no,” she managed to do the impossible and accommodate both my team and the general population of the hotel. Her positive, “can-do” spirit is a great resource that the hotel can be proud of. When someone is willing to go above and beyond their job description, that needs to be acknowledged. In fact, the staff overall were genuinely pleasant, attentive and polite and that starts at the top.
The rooftop pool tends to draw more of the singles scene and the cabana chairs invariably seem to be magnets for a stylish younger crowd. The magnificent infinity pool on the 3rd floor has more of an eclectic mix of families and hipsters relaxing in harmonic coexistence as the ocean waves curl away nearby. The food at the Pool Plaza restaurant is pretty tasty and the service there generally pretty fast. Both Jose and Isabel working there were probably the two nicest wait staff that I’ve ever encountered. Although I didn’t have a chance to eat while on the rooftop, the bartender there whipped up a few pitchers of a delicious smoothie (we were working after-all) that kept my crew in good spirits.
One of the reasons our shoot was drawn to The Perry was the cinematic look that surrounded us from a variety of places, so many stunning looks.
I look forward to returning to The Perry with my family when I can really soak in all the luxury and decompression time we all seek while on vacation. With people like Lisa on staff, The Perry will remain a destination of choice. Every organization can use a rock star performer on staff, and The Perry has found theirs.

We scouted dozens of hotels to shoot a commercial in before finally deciding on The Perry. The reason: The pools and grounds were by far the most beautiful of any we saw in South Beach, both at the ground level and rooftop and the layout looked the best on camera.
The crew decided to stay here as well, my room in particular was extremely comfortable and homey - fantastic bed (I usually hate hotel beds as they are too stiff or too soft, this one was just right). I found the staff much more attentive than the other hotels we had visited, specifically Lisa the PR Manager went amazingly above and beyond to accommodate our requests and added personal touches to encourage us to come back.
I highly recommend this hotel for both film and photo shoots as well as leisurely vacations. You should be aware it definitely has a busy nighttime party scene, if you want to avoid that stay in the higher floors which I found extremely peaceful and quiet, or if that's your thing you'll be very happy on the lower ones which are more in the thick of it.
Really happy we chose this place and definitely come back here.

First of all, we had a wonderful time at the Perry. The treatment was first class and it had all thd amenities you look for in a beach resort. The roof- top pool was my favorite spot; at night it's a pretty nice place to hang out, and during the day, it offers a great view of South Beach.

I would go back in a heartbeat.

I just coordinated a special event at Hotel Perry. We had a bit of a rocky start (as we didn't know what we wanted!) but I have to tell you, Lisa, you pulled us through with flying colors!!! Our event was a COMPLETE success due to your efforts. Lisa rocks!!! Also, all of our clients were super happy with their accommodations. The hotel manager, Roy was very accommodating as was Alex in the loading dock for our event Let me tell you, when you get a chance to see back of the house operations in a resort, you really haven't an idea what has to happen to make your stay amazing Every person I ran into from bell men, to housekeeping were very friendly and proud of their jobs, smiling and genuinely happy! I live in Miami and would go to Perry for a "staycation"!!! Thanks again everyone at Perry for a wonderful experience!

The service was good at the Perry, but one server was much better than the rest...she made up for what other servers lacked. Isobell was our server at the 3rd floor pool plaza and was absolutely fantastic. She was on top of her game the entire length of our stay. Not only was she warm, but was friendly and very helpful. Her suggestions for both food and drink were delicious. Although most of the service was fair (especially roof top :( service), her service was superior and made up for any average service before or after. Bravo, Isobell. Keep up the great work! She has a natural ability to manage and make things happen effortlessly.

Thank you again,

Kristin and Erika

The property has potential - but needs work and help with service
Our room was really large - the bathroom as big as some rooms I've stayed in, in New York! The room had a view of the ocean with a balcony with chairs. The room had a sitting area and a very nice bed wtih good linens. The bathroom was great. Furnishings were modern and nice.
The rooftop pool area has an excellent view and lots of chairs and sitting "baskets". Very hip and quite young with club music blasting.
The location is excellent - on the beach and near lots of activity.
The regular pool is okay. Needs some refurbishing. But the chairs are nice - there is towel service and the chairs have cushions. By 10 am all the chairs were full and you're out of luck.
The beach isn't cleaned daily so it's covered with seaweed and debris. You have to rent chairs on the beach ($10. per chair and $25. for an umbrella). The gym also charges a $16, per day fee. - I was thinking between gym and chair fees we could have stayed somewhere a little nicer.

It's a big property so the hallways are very long. The elevators are a substantial problem. 2 of the elevators are designated strictly for the roof - which leaves most often 3 elevators for an enormous property. There was always a line and people packed in trying to move around. You have to wait - we eventually found the stairs to avoid the chaos.

Service is pretty lackluster. At check in rooms weren't ready by almost 4pm. Lots of mistakes with assigning rooms and keys and all that kind of aggravation and no one is really concerned. Maid service arrived around 3-4pm and turn-down service was occasional. The bell service was a little disorganized - they couldn't tell when bags would arrive.

Overall, its a pretty nice place if you are thinking 3 star with little service. With a discounted rate of over $300. per night - I guess I thought it would be a little nicer.

My husband and I just came back from a 4 night stay at The Perry. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer which we would have, had the cost to change our flights been less expensive. We had a deluxe room with balcony/partial ocean view which was lovely. Much larger than we thought, clean, with a comfy bed. The service was great! The staff at the front desk, in the halls, restaurant..everywhere were polite and always willing to help. The rooftop pool area was very nice but surprisingly, always emptly. Perhaps it's a Friday/Saturday hotspot. The food on the 3rd floor patio restaurant was very good but breakfast was expensive $40 +. We didn't buy a breakfast package which may have been worthwhile. Instead we got the "hot and bothered" package which included the beach chairs, umbrella and other goodies. The only negative comment I have is that the beach staff rented our beach chairs to someone else because we stepped away for a couple of hours at lunch time. When we went back, we were chided because we didn't tell them we were going to come back. Quite frankly, we paid for the chairs and they had no business renting them out a 2nd time. While they gave us new chairs, they pestered us every day on our comings and goings the following days.

All in all, it was a great choice which I highly recommend.
