“Stay here!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

amazing service, great vibe, lovely spacious rooms. Loved the sound system in the rooms. The staff were some of the most attentive anywhere I have stayed, and I have been fortunate enough to stay in some wonderful places around the world. We were there on business, and the meeting room was good and well set up. What really made the place was the staff - no request too much trouble.

“Loved It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

The Angler's was an Internet find and what a find it was! The room was lovely, muted tones with a nod to Art Deco era. How the other reviewer could say it was shabby is beyond me. Everything...the furniture, pillows, drapes, and linens were high quality. Wonderful coffee table books on fashion and design. The mini bar fully stocked. We had a room on side near the pool but there was no problem with noise. It is in a great location. You can walk to every where which is a big plus due to traffic/parking. The one thing that seemed less than excellent was the food at the 660. We had appetizers before going out and the "crispy octopus" was not crispy, a bit chewy and the pork/plantain dish was cold however the ceviche was the best we've had. There is also a $35/night parking fee that I think is a little excessive. It was very well appointed with seating areas in the bar area as well as many intimate areas outside. We see another stay in our future

“Not quite what I was expecting.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Decided on a Miami stopover as the last night of our honeymoon. It was my husband's first visit but I had been twice before and stayed in hotels on Ocean Drive and Collins which looked impressive on the outside but were actually pretty basic. Therefore, with its quiet luxury, excellent location and great reviews, I thought the Anglers might be worth the 380 dollars for a Queen Suite.

We were greeted on the pavement taken straight round the back to the new annexe to be checked in. This is good in theory but no explanation was given and nothing pointed out in terms of other amenities such as the pool and bar. The duplex level corner suite looked over a car park on one side and Washington Ave at the front where the balcony was. There were no chairs to sit out which is understandable as it wouldn't be a great spot and, the balcony is too small anyway. So, we were deposited in what felt like a regular apartment in muted tones, magnolia walls and stark white (basic) shower rooms. It was all comfortable enough but just felt a bit blah...

Later, we discovered that the spiral stair case requires care. I grazed my shins dashing downstairs to answer a call and later, caught my finger in a worn part. On the other hand, the bed was comfortable with good linens and we appreciated the robes.

Several reviewers have commented on the lack of coffee making facilities and this did indeed, feel weird to be placed in a relatively out of the way suite with a wet bar and lounge but no coffee. Even basic places usually offer this.

The next day we found the pool and agreed that a room around the pool would have been much more pleasant as there was space to sit on balconies or terraces. In fact, the rest of the property was generally quite impressive so, it was just a shame that the Queen Suite didn't feel so special.

“Beautiful room and great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

The Angler's was a real find for us, and my partner and I enthusiastically recommend it! We have stayed at several of the smaller and deco properties - both mid to upscale on Ocean, Collins and Washington over the years - so I think we have a very good feel for what makes for a great small hotel. Our suite (117) was a two level unit with a full living room and 1/2 bath downstairs and huge bedroom and full bath upstairs. Downstairs included a wide screen TV, refrigerator stocked with a full selection of beverages, full bottle red and white wine choices, pints (not airplane minis) of top shelf liquor and a filled ice bucket (which was refilled when we returned to our room on day 2 after a day of activities.) Decor was beautiful (muted tones, contemporary design); our king mattress was great with both soft and firm pillows and crisp, high quality linens. Another wide screen TV upstairs. Terry robes hung in the closet. Towels were plentiful and of great quality. A beach bag was packed and in the closet - ready for the pool or beach. All windows had full black-out drapes. Did I mention the french doors in the living level leading to a fenced-in private patio surrounded by bamboo and shrubs...with a private hot tub? Pation lounge chairs were wrapped in terry with extra towels. The patio included a wrought iron table and chairs... we enjoyed coffee by day and champagne by night (and the hot tub!) The water pressure in the shower was very strong and included an adjustable pulse shower head. Shampoo, conditioner and body lotion were good quality (Gilchrist & Soames, I think) and were larger than the one-squirt models you usually find. Air conditioning was quiet and powerful (we set it COLD and buried ourselves under the duvet). I was curious about The Angler's location...on busy Washington Ave...But it is set back from the avenue and is fronted with palms and shrubs... Once off the sidewalk we felt far removed from the bustle. Public areas included a smart looking restaurant space and lounge, plus patio space in front and to the side. We didn't get to enjoy the pool...but it looked great. "In-room" check in... Jessica walked us to our room and briefed us on the amenities of the room and resort...was a nice touch. Our only regret was that our stay was too short!

“Great venue for small biz meeting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

I booked this place just a couple of weeks prior to an off-site meeting for my company - and selected it as an option to explore based on TripAdvisor reviews. We needed just a few rooms for attendees and an intimate, pleasant meeting room we would be "swallowed" in - hence staying away from larger hotels on Miami Beach. And seeing as we were there for meeting time only, no need for beach access. The sales team were incredibly responsive throughout the booking and planning process - flexible on timings and rates. We each stayed in a King Suite Room, which I thought was gorgeous, spacious, clean and quiet. The meeting room was lovely, we had a great working lunch in the restaurant on day two, and on day one (when restaurant was closed) the staff sorted out a local lunch delivery option. The resort is super quaint and I would come back here with my husband for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: 2nd floor King Suite Rooms in main building were lovely and spacious.
