The spa was fine, although nothing special and pretty expensive (particularly as prices were listed without tax, without service and without other hidden charges that they seemed to add).
The rooms were small and seemed to be made out of chip board. They reminded me of backpacker huts in Asia (that cost a hundredth of the price). It is an unusual style of accomodation. We had paid extra for a "private terrace", which wasn't private, had one rickety chair and no view. We didn't use it at all so wasted our money. However, there were some nice touches, such as ipod speakers and decent toiletries in the room.
The staff were 50/50 friendly/unfriendly but the service was pretty poor.
The food was very good (healthy, but not too healthy and thankfully not a grilled cheese in sight), although the selection was limited and several dishes had sold out.
They told everyone that breakfast would be served until 10.30am and then cleared everything away before 10am.
The items in the mini bar were very expensive and attracted lots of hidden charges.
It took 3 hours for us to order room service and have it delivered. Then they sent the wrong wine (which of course was twice the price of the one we had selected).
The pool was nice. However, the hotel allows day guests. At the weekend the pool, poolside and poolside restaurant were completely full of daytrippers. We could not get a table in the restaurant or a sun lounger by the pool and had to go to the beach and The Setai for lunch (which was a lot nicer!). There were just too many people around one small pool and everyone in the pool seemed to be drunk or getting drunk and talking on their mobiles.
Housekeeping hammered on the door early one morning and woke us up. We asked them to come back later and they just dumped some toiletries on the doorstep and left.
The location is fine, although it is a bit of a walk to the beach in the heat.
In general, it was fine, but not worth the money, and certainly not the luxury/tranquil spa experience we had expected from the advertising.
