“A cool place on South Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

We stayed here two nights at the beginning of a two week holiday touring Southern Florida. This is a very comfortable and hip hotel in a great location. Although not on Ocean Drive it is close enough to make no difference. The rooms are well furnished with excellent facilities. The staff were friendly and very efficient. We hope to go back!

Service was five star. Clean, quiet, excellent location and friendly staff. Could have not been any better. just near the beach at the quieter end of town. Walking distance to night clubs and restaurants. Chaise lounge chairs waiting for you at the beach.

Room Tip: Our room had a whirlpool tub on the terrace. Excellent!

I have to say that i am very particular and was expecting an extremely satisfying stay based on the price! It was north of $600 a night. We got a rooftop terrace room and really were here to live the high life and throw price to the wind. so what did we get?
First, this hotel is known as a boutique hotel. This seems to mean it is very small. The lobby, was surprisingly small and the room frankly was tight! the amenities were plentiful and of course the hot tub on the roof was very nice. The fixtures were worn though on the terrace but really i think you pay for the location and status more than the actual room. On the high side, having just suffered at the hands of a horrible airline with lost luggage and cancelled flight segments, i was in a absolutely rotten mood and i know it showed. The staff i am sure could see this but were extremely helpful, friendly and gracious even though i know i didn't deserve their kindness at this point. They were perfectly professional and represented the hotel very well! I wish i remembered their names but it seemed consistent from the front desk, the bellman and even the security person (i had problems with the in room safe and forgot the code i set into it). I think the location was perfect for South Beach with central access to everything! If i was to suggest anything, a little more attention to room maintenance would be in order. The bathroom door lock was broken and the patio lounges should have been replaced. When we asked for the hot tub to be set up though, they covered them nicely with towels and set it up perfectly. One thing to remember, this hotel is taller than most of the buildings to the side of it so part of the view is the top of the other facilities with their air conditioners, waste containers and the other things people will try to hide behind their buildings. I don't know how this can be helped though.
I was particularly picky and particular for the reasons stated above yet i had to admit i left impressed.

Room Tip: Getting the rooftop terrace is nice, but a room on the pool level would offer better value and the l...

We booked a king bed suite and were placed in one of the penthouse rooftop suites... absolutely stunning room with all the amenities... lovely huge bathroom with his and her separate sink areas, rain shower, etc. Extremely comfortable bed, lovely balcony and the rooftop terrace with hottub and lounge area was just fabulous. I'm a picky guest and I truly have not a negative thing to say about this place. The pool area was nice -- not too too crowded even though we were there during a busy week... staff was so attentive and friendly.. housekeeping staff was extraordinary -- our suite was kept spotless and they seemed to slip in and out without ever bothering us. The Front Porch restaurant in the lobby has excellent food -- over our stay we had a breakfast, lunch and dinner there and all were quite good with excellent service. Starbucks across the street and ocean beach right across the street as well -- walking distance to everything and yet on a somewhat quieter more private side street area. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but what a gem!! We'll be back if we can afford it!!

Room Tip: Roof top penthouse suite was fabulous!! They also have pool level access rooms for families with ki...

My husband and I stayed here while returning from key west. We spent two nights here, which were more than enough due to the lack of sleep from the air conditioner. If you are a light/moderate sleeper the ac unit will keep you awake. It clicks on and off every few mins. Maybe it was just our room.

The room was clean and up to date. We had a rooftop terrace with a partial ocean views. The rooftop was great, very spacious with a sun bed and a jacuzzi. The view was ok! It was better on camera with a zoom. There was plenty of shade and also plenty of sun on the roof. We loved the bathroom layout. Plenty of privacy for two people using it at the same time. The shower was amazing, had a couple shower heads and body sprays. It inspired is for our bathroom remodel :). Aveda products too!

There is a mini bar in the room, be careful.... It's expensive and I found some expired items in it. There is no joke a liquor/wine/beer store right next door just steps outside the hotel. Save yourself a lot of money and walk a few steps outside the hotel.

Included in our stay was beach access with chairs. Use it! The beach is not even a five minute walk. The location is great and the service is great. All we had to do was tip the chair guy and sat back and relaxed. The water was warm and very easy going. Meaning not a lot of waves. I have a fear of waves and I felt very comfortable in the water.

The location of the hotel is great, close to everything but also not in the middle of the nightlife. There are tons of great restaurants, bars and shopping within walking distance.

Service was good but not great. Nothing exceeded our expectations. But we were happy.

Only complaints were the ac unit and more of a sorta funny thing is we got locked out of our hotel room. Our maid locked us out not being aware we were on the rooftop terrace. Thank goodness she was on the opposite balcony and saw us pounding on the door. Oh and the mini bar with expired items from over a year ago.

We did not eat at any of their restaurants.

We didn't use the pool either, as we prefer the beach.

Great location, clean hotel, good service and satisfied guests. We would not stay here again though.

Room Tip: Don't bother with an ocean view unless you go with a rooftop. The rooftop is worth it but the vi...

Stayed here in January. Overall we really liked the hotel. It was In a great location for shopping and access to the beach, it was under a $25 can ride to see the Miami Heat play.

The hotel was renovated so it was clean and modern. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed at their hotel.

The room had two tvs and a little bar area with a sink and fridge which was nice. We had a balcony that faced Collins ave. The hotel has a pool area that was average we didn't bother to spend any time there.

We stayed at the z hotel for one fun night in Miami. From start to finish the service at this hotel was outstanding! Beach is a across the street. Pool is nice. You can order drinks & food poolside. Cuban coffee can be found a short distance away. Front Porch restaurant is fine, not as fabulous as everyone says. Large portions though. Rooms are as pictured online. Very nice. We had basic king suite. We had a great large lanai overlooking the street. Location is awesome. Had dinner at SLS hotel. Good people watching as people headed to club at SLS. I would stay at this hotel again. Again staff was awesome!
