We stayed at The Strand this past weekend. We booked one of the suites and really enjoyed the room. We loved the rooftop pool and the staff was very sweet. One of the managers was a tad rude to some of my girlfriends at the opening of our stay because they had to check it without me (my name was on the reservation). However, after I arrived and spoke with him he did apologize. He in no way reflected the quality of the rest of the staff. When my girlfriends first arrived our room wasn’t ready, however, they did accommodate us by giving us a late check out. Overall the staff was sweet, especially Axle :), and we loved the room and its amenities. I’ve visited South Beach quite a few times and stayed at about seven of the hotels there. Many times the staff can be snooty but I really enjoyed my experience at The Strand. We had a great time! We will definitely stay there again!

My husband & I travel quite a bit and our experience at The Strand was so FABULOUS that I had to take the time to write about it. The location is out of this world! Our room (a Junior Suite) was impeccably clean, comfortable, and had all the features and amenities we needed. The service was what really knocked it out of the park!!! Everyone at the front desk (Eloy especially) Vassi, Jose, Danny, & the wonderful housekeeping staff were friendly & helpful. I worked in the hotel business for 9 years so I know what it takes to provide great customer service… The Strand’s staff went far beyond any expectations. This hotel was so great, my husband & I are already making plans for our next visit. The only caveat I have to bring up is that we recommend you bring eye masks for when you sleep. The shades in the rooms are beautiful but very shear & it is quite bright in the mornings. That’s all though… everything else was fantastic. Thanks to everyone at The Strand for making our trip so memorable!

The Strand has potential but it's off in so many areas and is definately NOT a four star hotel as stated through hotwire.com.
1. The fitness center is a room with 3-4 pieces of exercise equipment. The equipment is not plugged in or in working order. They send you to Gold's Gym for $15 a day. This is in addition to the resort fee they charge you. 2. The woman who works by the pool is not helpful. She sits on her cell phone all day long or is absent. 3. There is no beverage service poolside unless you do ask the attendant - in this case, she disappears for an hour and comes back with drinks for the restaurant downstairs. 4. The elevators are the slowest I've ever seen. If you're not staying ni the same building as the pool, this can mean a 20 minute jog to your room. 5. The Cheeseburger Restaurant is terrible. 6. I had to ask the housekeeping staff FOUR times to make up our pullout couch. 7. I had to call down for shampoo and conditioner - none in the room. 8. The room itself is already worn out looking. 9. Reserve a room in back - it will STILL be loud but not unbearable. 10. Front desk staff is rude. We were charged for an extra key - I was told it was just a deposit and wouldn't be charged but when I checked out, it was still on there. 11. Valet parking is bizzare. If you pay in cash through the valet, it's $25 a day. If you pay through the hotel, it's $35. Seems like a scam. The stay wasn't horrible but it just didn't meet any four star expections.

My husband and I stayed at the Strand from April 19-23. It was a great experience. I couldn't believe how nice the rooms were for the price that we paid. The rooms were modern w/out trying too hard. Great kitchen w/stainless steel appliances. Bathtub was roomy. The toiletries were from H2O so that was a plus as well. Super close to everything Sobe. I would definitely stay at the Strand again.
