The Mimosa Hotel advertises itself as a 'boutique' hotel and I suppose what they mean is that the hotel is small, has sleek modern furniture and a jacuzzi bath in the bedroom! Some people might think this is all very artsy and cute but staying there presents some real problems. I recently spent five nights there while searching for a short term rental apartment in Miami beach. First off, as another reviewer already noted, the walls are paper thin and one hears everything happening in the next room. This can be a real nuisance especially when your neighbors come in late at night and have an argument! There is not a comfortable chair to sit on in the room. The one chair that faces the very tiny desk like structure -and is barely big enough for a laptop computer -has no back support. The bed, while fairly comfortable was difficult to get in and out of because it was just a mattress placed on a wooden platform. This is one main reason why I would not recommend this hotel for older visitors. The breakfast is cheap at $5.50 but that's because it hardly contains any food... just canned juice, coffee, toast and sugary cold cereal. The hotel lacks facilities necessary if one is there for a business or business related reason. They do give messages but there is no phone available at the pool deck nor in the small lobby except for the one behind the desk. The staff is not particularly friendly or unfriendly... they do their jobs but one doesn't get a welcoming feeling from any of them that I encountered.

As well, this hotel is not cheap. While its prices vary depending on the usual factors, I still paid more than $150 per night plus taxes and felt it was not good value for what I wanted and needed. The only really good thing about it is its location. The beach is immediately behind its pool deck and takes only moments to get to and there is a bus right outside its door. I suppose this type of hotel is allright for younger travelers who might think this place is "cool" but not for the rest of us!

Breakfast is very basic cereals & little else! Small crowded area for all guests on hard outdoor aluminum furniture. Disgusting value!

The staff at Mimosa Hotel is horrible. They are very unfriendly, never smile, and are not helpful at all. The room is loud because you can hear traffic outside and people in the hallway and outside the building. The bath towels are old and small and there were never enough towels in the room, had to call them daily to get extra ones. The beds are clean at least. I fell and hurt myself on the wet tile floor and the man at the front desk said nothing after I told him. Very rude and I would not choose to stay here again.
