“Nice rooms but bad service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

This could have been a good hotel, but a lot was missing. When we ordered, we were told that there should be a pool in the garden and a fitness centre at the hotel, but theese things were in a part of the hotel which was under construction. The room was good (more than we expected), but it did'nt get cleaned before in the evening. The breakfast was not impressive. Tha location was good.

This place seems ok on the website but it is undoing construction and is a mess. The room we had had a ridiculously small bathroom with no exhaust fan and the windows in the whole room were sealed shut. The whole place smelled of mildew obviously due to the lack of exhaust. The internet was basically non existent and the shower would take around 10 minutes before the water turned warm. The staff we nice enough except one. It was a great location which is the only thing going for it. Just not a pleasant place to relax you would better off staying in a resort.

Loved the place, location and breakfast. We didn't know the pool was undergoing repairs so they gave us an upgrade and the room was just perfect and very clean. Only thing is that it didn't have a mini fridge so you couldn't really have any cold water or soda in your room.
Only a couple of blocks away from the beach and Ocean Drive, and 7 blocks away from Lincoln rd. and Collins ave. Great location!

We stayed in this hotel for one night before a cruise. The room was small but clean & looked cheerful. The air-conditioner in the room was very noisy. There was no lift in the hotel & the corridors smelt old & musty. The internet didn’t work when we arrived (or for the whole time we were there) & the staff seemed disinterested when we let them know it wasn’t working. Breakfast was basic but adequate.

Hello, Me and my Gf were a guest last weekend at this hotel. An employee name Carol Montes upgraded our room to a king suite because she saw that it was my birthday and me and my gf were celebrating it in Miami. I was extremely shocked when she helped us out with an upgrade. Carol also had an employee name Israel help us out with our luggages. If I were to complain about something it would be that the wifi wasn't working well but thank god that their is a Starbucks down the street that has great wifi connection. I noticed that the hotel was going through renovations but the noise did not disturb me and my stay was very good overall. Great hotel to stay at with great employees. I recommend it to anyone.

When we arrived, there was some renovation work taking place, so the pool was not available. But the staff were fantastic on reception and went the extra mile to make our visit special.

Our room was clean, tidy and had all the necessary extras to make it a comfortable stay. It was quiet, well decorated and airy. We only stayed one night as we were cruising the next day. There is a minibus service to the cruise terminal which was very reasonable. The hotel is a five minute walk, if you are walking slowly from south beach, but although there are lots of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk, there was very little outside noise. The only problem I could see was car parking, but we dropped our hire car off within minutes of arriving.

The breakfast was basic but for a little extra, there were options available, and there is a lovely diner opposite the hotel.. All in all a lovely stay and an ideally located hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Garden Hotel South Beach in February, a return trip after staying there in March of 2013. We were combining a stay in Miami with a business trip elsewhere in Florida, and unfortunately the boat show was in town during the only time we had to spend there and prices were sky-high. We paid $359 a night Feb. 14-16 and $199 on Feb. 17, the night the boat show left! The reasons we returned are the location, a couple of blocks from the beach and right in the middle of the deco district so we could walk to everything; the funky deco-ness of the small but clean and cheerful rooms; and the pool, lounging and breakfast area right on Washington Street. Also, during a normal, non-boat-show week, the price is under $200. That said, this property is undergoing massive renovation. It consists of 4 small buildings that operate as one hotel (it used to be the Wyndham until last year). Last March, we stayed at the building farthest to the north, while everything else was being worked on. We pretty much assumed construction would be done by now. Don't assume! It turns out that the owner is trying to persuade the historic district to let an additional floor be added to the back of a couple of the buildings; that approval has taken forever and in order to do it the foundations have to be shored up, one of the employees explained. The buildings are on the Deco District historic tour; the tour explains what's going on and goes inside the Coral Building, where (free) breakfast is served, and indeed it is made of coral. Last year the pool was open; this year it was closed and in the construction area. If a pool is critical, call ahead. But the beach is very close and the hotel provides towels and chairs. There are chaise longues and tables and chairs in the lounging area in front of the hotel, and we sat out there and read a couple of times. If you have a car, you can park it at a public garage about a block away for about $20 a night. It's my opinion that the hotel tries to isolate its guests from the construction, at least on the weekend; we weren't bothered by any noise. The employees are friendly and there are always free apples and oranges in the lobby. One caveat: They charged us over and above what we had agreed to through booking.com, accidentally charging us $359 instead of $199 for the final night. When I called about this the day after we left, they said they'd check on it and call me back, which they never did. I called a week later and they refunded the extra charge to my credit card, supposedly. All in all, this place is going to be awesome when and if it ever gets done, but then I probably won't be able to afford it!
