“Luxury setting that did not disappoint”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

Had high expectations based on reviews read on Trip Advisor and on the experiences of friends who have visited the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed our stay and the hotel lived up to my high expectations. It is a beautiful resort with every luxury expected in a five star destination. Location in heart of South Beach is huge plus. It is nicest hotel I have stayed in in the South Beach area and I find it far superior to the other five star hotels in South Beach.
Its important to know that the rooms within each category are not all the same. Layouts vary significantly. We were given a room that was very different from the courtyard suites pictured on website. I was expecting double vanities -as per website description of my reserved room -and our room did not have them. To our surprise, on a holiday fully booked weekend, we were given- without being told in advance - a room equipped for guests with disabilities outfitted with special handrails and other modifications. It was not what we expected on our vacation. When we tried to switch, there were almost no options for us. We had to wait until next morning and tried again with a different manager and were given a different room that offered a better layout although in a noisy location at the hotel. We took it! We spent a lot of our valuable vacation time dealing with the numerous front desk managers on duty trying to get placed in a room worth the price this hotel commands and charges. To their credit, management was very nice about our request to switch rooms and made every effort to accommodate within the category we booked -but sadly for us it took persistence and much effort on our part and we lost time and gained aggravation in a short vacation. This took its toll on the experience and quality of our stay. However it is likely just a rare incident that most guests do not have to worry about.
The beds are very comfortable and the crisp well pressed linens and down pillows are amazing. The blackout electro shades ensure a deep sleep. The bathrooms are nice and the rain shower with excellent water pressure delivers a spa like experience. The breakfast buffet is wonderful and fully staffed by excellent attentive servers. Don't miss the great cappuccino. The beach is lovely and the lounge chairs are large and comfortable. Umbrellas are provided at no extra charge as well as sunscreen and chilled Voss water. The courtyard is stunning and offers a great setting to meet friends for a drink before dinner. The doorman are very attentive and there is a hotel car available for complimentary short rides.
Overall an excellent hotel with well trained polite staff. I expect to return when in the area.

This hotel is by far the best on Miami Beach. It is absolutely 5 star with all the amenities and service you would expect. The staff is very friendly, professional and is well trained in hospitality. They never refuse any request. Extra chocolates in the evening - no problem. Can I have a smoothie while sitting in the courtyard and watching the World Cup - yes right away and on the house.

The property itself is impeccable, spotless and totally high end. From the three restaurants, to the bar, to the pool area, gym, spa and all common areas, you cannot find any flaws. Anywhere you go, you feel comfortable, relaxed and wanted. The staff on the beach sets you up on a chair, brings over a tray of cold water, cold spray, a cold wet towel and a complimentary smoothie every now and then.

The food at the restaurants is also top notch. Breakfast is an endless buffet with anything you'd ever want.

The only quirk, and its not really a problem, is that the rooms have a bathtub in the living area below the tv. In discussions with other guests, everyone seemed to agree this is bizarre. Even if you are in the bathtub, you cannot see the tv because its right above you. What if the tv falls into the tub? When you get out of the tub, your living area will be all wet. Very strange, maybe I'm missing something.

The crowd here is sophisticated and you don't get any of the trashy South Beach crowd roaming the halls being loud and rowdy. I will definitely come back here every time I am in Miami.

Perfect retreat on the beach. Our room was beautiful, as was the view over South Beach. Everything oozed calm and quiet which is what we were looking for. The beach beds and service were fantastic, as were the pools. The service was outstanding and very friendly. And the little muffins and macaroons housekeeping left were a very nice, and delicious, touch.

The Setai is a top notch hotel on South Beach. Everything is super nice. The views are amazing of downtown Miami and the beach as well. i stayed in room 3701 and it was a two bedroom condo. The three pools were fantastic. i do not think i will ever stay any where else when visting Miami. An absolutely stunning hotel all around!

We did a 2-day Miami escape, and this was the perfect pick. If you are looking for action, stay at the Fontainebleau. This place is about peace, comfort, uncrowdedness, attentive service that is not pretentious, and superb food/drinks. From the carefully configured grounds, comfy pool beds, amazing cocktails, the place oozes quiet luxury. An international clientele--not many guests were speaking English. The breakfast buffet is stupendous. Even the coffee is top-notch. Spa/gym were also excellent. There is plenty of free water everywhere. I really am having trouble finding fault with this place and this experience. The staff went out of their way to make sure every detail, every need was fulfilled. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Just like all the men and women that are in South Beach....the Setai is a monument to that perfection as it were....... you will be able to enjoy a beautiful lunch and watch the ocean wash over the remains of the day.

Room Tip: face north east...the sun will gently rise into your eyes

The Setai hotel has to be my favourite of all, its a pleasure to stay there, everything is just truly fantastic. Arriving from airport is a flat fee by cab $33 but you need to go into the lower ground/basement to get the taxis which is not obvious at Miami airport. Expect to wait a long time for your baggage to. Its only about 15-20 mins to the Beach area and around 8-9 miles so very quick to get to the Setai,

Stayed in the Tower this time and this is far better than staying in the actual hotel for sure. On arriving first couple of days of the two weeks the weather was a bit miserable and then research when the best time of year is to visit. Horrified to find out that June has the most rain but we were very lucky as the rest of the stay was pure sunshine. So the first couple of days was just as miserable as the Miami Heat two losses to the Spurs, they were so poor though great to see NBA finals games. The AA arena is not that far 15-20 mins or so in a cab and around 20-25$.

Information found on best times of year to go (easy to find);

The best time to visit Miami Beach is the spring. Between March and May, the sun shines with high 70s and low 80s during the day. Also, you'll miss the peak winter rates. This part of Florida enjoys a subtropical climate, meaning it's usually warm year-round and a bit rainy. Pack an umbrella if you visit in summer or fall; at the very least, you can expect some afternoon showers. In the worse-case scenario, you could experience torrential downpours since hurricane season runs from about June to November. If you're trying to keep your bank account in check, hotel rates and flight fares tend to decrease in the summer as the temperature and precipitation increase.

June-August
Summer means that families will converge on the beach; however, they won't stick around for the evenings. With temperatures in the high 80s and lower 90s, you should bring lots of sunscreen and take frequent dips in the ocean.
September-November
With hurricanes a definite possibility, visiting during the fall can be a gamble. If you guess right, you'll save a lot of cash. Regardless, you'll still confront leftover summer heat and humidity. The beaches will be the least packed at this time of year.

Key Events:
Sunny Isles Beach Jazz Fest (October)
White Party (November)

December-February
The time to see and be seen, winter brings out the best in Miami Beach. You'll enjoy the people-watching, while sitting on the outdoor patio of an exclusive restaurant with temps in the mid 70s. Miami Beach also saves its best events for the winter, especially Art Basel. Everyone (who is anyone) wants to be here during this time, so bringing the check book and booking three to four months in advance are musts.

Key Events:
Art Basel (December)
South Beach Food & Wine Festival (February)
Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail (February)

March-May

The clubs have cooled off a little, but the beach is heating up. Visitors get their tans while lounging on the wide beaches. Note that Spring Break always brings a throng of college kids to Miami's shores. If sharing the sand with students isn't appealing, plan on visiting in late April or early May.

Key Events:
Winter Party (March)
Miami Beach International Fashion Week (March)

Check the seasons, June to September is low season which is odd for us Brits!.

Looking forward to next stay already, there's no alternative!!! Renovations are starting now in the Tower to make it like that Asian themed hotel but don't let this put you off, the drills and the hammers are still going over at the W Hotel a year later, a bad choice that one.
