We arrived at the restaurant and had a nice server who sold us the special (a huge porter house & 2 1/2lb maine lobster), and said that would be enough for the 2 of us. The food arrived 5 minutes later, we were expecting to sip on our cocktails and dine for the evening, i wish i could tell you about the atmosphere but we were in and out so fast i cant remember anything about the restaurant except the not so romantic tables and overly loud music. The food was very good, and the entree was $165; we don't mind spending money on a great dinner, which you will probably do there, just don't expect to have a dining experience. We managed to spend almost $300 in less than 45min on 3 mojitos and an entree. We felt very rushed, not the experience we hoped for. We mentioned to one of the manager that we were disappointed and he pretty much didn't care and said if we wanted a nice romantic dinner and dining experience we should have gone else where. That was the end of our dinner. If you are in a hurry eat here.

My fiance and I went to China Grill on our first trip to Miami (3rd Sept 06) as we had read some good reviews. We arrived at 10pm (we called beforehand and were told they were fully booked but advised to arrive and wait and have a drink at the bar). We were told the table would be around 45 mins. The bar was very busy, people eating at it and most the same as us, waiitng for a table. The music is quite loud and the lighting is very dim, a good atmosphere though, alot of 'beautiful' people! (I felt the odd one out as I have'nt had a boob job!!) Also the air con is very high, I was freezing as were alot of other girls in short sleeved tops. We eventually got seats at the bar and after 50 mins we still had'nt been seated, 10 minutes later we were. We had waited an hour in total which was ok as we enjoyed drinking cocktails and people watching. We ordered the special, a set meal of starter and main (I cannot remember the cost but it wasnt cheap). The starter was good and the main was a half cooked chicken with wasabi mashed potato. Not the best or hottest meal we've ever had but ok for 11pm at night!! We skipped dessert.
My fiance told me after we had left that he had seen a mouse run under the bar and a few of the staff had seen it but did'nt bat an eye lid!!! Glad he had'nt told me whilst we were there as the kitchen is immediately behind the bar!
All in all, an ok evening, would I go there again?? For drinks at the bar yes, for food, NO!!!!!

I liked China Grill, but it was a bit chaotic at the host check in and we did have to wait 25 min. for our table even with a reservation. The food was good, crispy spinach was very tasty and different than any other spinach I've had. The brown fried rice was delicious and worth ordering. The only disappointment was the cod entree which was a little fishy. We were a party of 4 and found the prices pretty reasonable. We shared 3 apps, 2 entrees and 2 sides and it was plenty of food. Enjoy the scene!

I have eaten at China Grill several times, and I have always been impressed. The food is consistenly great, as is the service. It's a unique place to take out of towners, since the decor is beautiful. The duck salad is great, the calamari salad too. I usually order the curry shrimp, or the bbq salmon, both are excellent. Now they are serving sushi which is deliciuos. Portions are large, so expect to share. Or course it's not cheap. It's fine dining, on South Beach!!
