“Excellent for a hostel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

I'm getting a bit too old to go to a youth hostel (I'm 37!) but this one is a lot of fun. It's a bit of a party place (Miami is thought). The customer service is FANTASTIC and the staff is VERY HELPFUL, each and everyone of them. Thanks guys!

It's near the beach too and close to all amenities...

You'll definitely have fun if you go there.

I stayed here for 2 nights (9-11 Feb); the facilities are clean and the staff is very nice. They do have free transportation from the hostel to the airport but only at 2.30 ET. However, they have a time schedule of the bus #150 that runs every 30 mins to the airport. You can take the same bus from the airport to the hostel and get off in the corner (2.60usd or so). The breakfast consists of coffee (not very good), fruit (mostly bananas) and bagels. Location is convenient too, you can walk from there to the main avenues and public beaches. If you go further to the South, there is a nice park with a beautiful view of the bay. Internet service was not very good, only works fine if you are in the lobby. There are small small lockers in the rooms where you can store ID's or anything you don't want to have with you during the day. Overall, if you are traveling with friends or alone, it's a very good place to stay.

the hotel is located along washington avenue in a very strategic position, along a very crowded and alive avenue, very close to the main center of the city and 2 blocks from the amazing beach. the atmosphere inside the hostel is fresh, chilly and cool, we spent 5 days having a great time. staff very helpful and friendly and pretty good breakfast in the morning. There is a small kitchen very useful and a small TV room with A/C. very recomended.
Too bad that internet connection worked now and then but above all only 1 water (1 for guys and 1 for women) for a whole floor so many times, in the morning or in the evening, it was often overcrowded.

Stayed in the hostel for two nights. The room was a private four person room. We stayed with two in the room. But even for two it was rather small but clean!
Bathroom was also clean, nothing to complain.
Nice parties arranged every night also!
Nothing special, but also nothing wrong with the place!
Value for money!

Overall a good place to stay but our 6-person room was packed to say the least. When all 6 of us were there it wasn't easy to negotiate! But overall the atmosphere was good and the staff were helpful and friendly.

South Beach Hostel has a wonderful location and awesome sense of culture. The management at SoBe Hostel is very professional and always ready to take charge at increasing the level of service delivered.
The property size is not large e.g. compared to Las Vegas style properties but I feel that there is enough leg room for me to wonder around and not feel cramped. The foyer is spacious and contains plenty of comfortable seats for a lot of folks to get their groove going.

The sleeping area does not contain a wash basin or toilet but each floor has a separate sex washroom. The washroom is at a small commercial level as opposed to residential.
The area as several of stores and food joints from all over the world. The largest selection of food runs in the Pizza category and trust me; most ovens here are equipped to knock Piazza lovers off their feet with taste.
Miami is an excellent place visit for a few days or if time permits a few weeks.

You can stay a couple of blocks away for hundreds of dollars a night, so the price and location cannot be beat. The airport bus and local busses stop on the corner. The hole in the wall taco business next door is excellent and the fish is first class in the cerviche. It is a hike up to the main hotel and club strips on Ocean and Collins Aves (5-8+ blocks). The beach entrance is nice, the public lav by the beach entrance was clean and modern; Starbucks is right on the entrance park. If you want an uncrowded beautiful beach, this is great. If you want night life, you have to hike. If you want to eat at Joe's or see the swell new condos at the end of the beach, this is it. If you want space, privacy, clean lavatories, good lockers and adequate social room, go elsewhere. Overall, I enjoyed the authentic cheap stucco, rickety dirty air conditioner, Germans partying in the bunk above me, and the overall poetry of the place. The staff was great, super helpful. What made some days dirty were other guests, 20 somethings ready to get drunk and dis. Most days other guests were cool. For under 30 dollars a night, what more could you ask for?

Room Tip: 2nd floor is nicer.
