We were pulled in to this restaurant by the "happy hour special' of buy one, get one free margarita. We were told by the hostess that the jumbo margaritas with the 2 coronas were $36 at buy one get one free special. How do I know she meant the jumbo margaritas? Because I pointed to the drink I wanted, that particular size of margarita, and she told me the price (need to know this for later in the story). Drinks were good. Food was a drag. We got our bill. 2 People, 2 drinks at buy one get one free, plus 3 appetizers: $200+. Yes, seriously. Why? Because the drinks are buy one get one free ** per person**, the appetizers are $15 a piece, and, best of all, the drinks are $60 each! $60x2 + $15x3 + Tax + 18% gratuity.
So I had the manager come over, who called herself "Maria". She proceeded to completely ignore my complaint and told me the following excuses:
1) the hostess has worked with her for over 6 years -- she couldn't have lied!
2) That size of a drink is worth more than $90 at the Clevelander next door
3) How did I come up with $36? It's such a strange number
4) I must have been mistaken when the hostess said $36 (so now Maria admits the hostess said $36!), because the small margarita is $36 (again, I POINTED!)
Her final attempt to calm me down was to put her hand on me and flirt. I'm easy, but not that easy. And better yet, I have a higher education (which Maria clearly doesn't have), and know how to argue. I got one full drink taken off, which takes off $60 from the bill.
Maria and the staff at the La Baguette were unprofessional, rude, disgusting.
