“Perfect Dinner Night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Far exceeded my expectations! The night was perfect, that I still talk about it! Our server was Maribel who was spectacular! - (Request her!) She always had a big smile and was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, who the chef was and the drinks. It got to the point where we just told her what kinds of food we liked and we just went with her recommendations.

Our drinks came out and each drink had some type of unique garnishment which added to experience. The food served was very elegant and presented well. Most definitely get the Bak Choy appetizer! - I was not expecting the texture and how light it was. The pork buns were beyond good, we had to put in another order. All the tapas that came out was very tasty. I don't think there was one tapas plate I didn't like. It was the perfect dinner night to end our vacation. I would highly recommend!!!!

“spectacular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

The food was spectacular; and the service we received from our waitress Maribel was impeccable. She was very knowledgeable, and had a answer to every question that we may have had. She was attentive to us, even though she had other tables to take care of. i was pleased 100% and would call this experience one of my top highlight during my visit to miami beach.

Third time having dinner here. Great robata grilled items, creative dishes, good service and atmosphere. Try the ginger sake mojito. Cheers.

“forget it. go to Nobu”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We booked this following good reviews on Trip Advisor.
This is a shabby restaurant on the side of what looks like a shabby hotel. The food is nice but I’d rather spend the same money (not cheap) and eat in Nobu.
We arrived at 5pm with a reservation but when we requested happy hour prices which weren’t pointed out to us on arrival the waiter did everything possible to avoid giving us discount including question our time of arrival. We had a 5pm booking for god sake.
Conclusion. Too expensive, awful surroundings, cranky staff.

“Try the book chop appetizer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

This restaurant tucked into the Essex House was a wonderful dining experience. Jose was our waiter and he was very passionate about the menu and explaining the various dishes he recommended, including the book chop appetizer that really did taste like healthy potato chips! They were a great way to start off a little snacking meal my husband and I shared a few hours before dinner since we missed lunch that day. The garbanzo spring rolls were a tasty and unusual twist in spring rolls and garbanzo beans and the prosciutto roll was just an amazing twist on sushi! The host, whose name we did not catch, also was very welcoming and attentive. Overall, it was a perfect early evening snack and we look forward to going back sometime soon for a full meal!
