“WOW!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

WOW.......what an incredible stay!! We were treated like royalty from start to finish! There is not a single thing that I can say that was anything less than outstanding! The staff catered to our every need or desire. The room was awesome with an incredible view of both the ocean and downtown Miami. Only a five minute walk to all the nightlife that South Beach has to offer! We didn't want to leave......I will return here next year!!

Room Tip: Rooms that have a balcony are the ones to have!!!

We stayed at the HBH the night before a cruise departure from Miami. It was a wonderful surprise. We selected the hotel based on membership in the Hilton Honors program and the hotel stay was paid for with points from the program.
Our room was a junior suite, complete with a nearly full size kitchen, huge bathroom with jacuzzi and separate shower, and a wrap around veranda with chaise lounges and tables.
The room was immaculately clean and had floor to ceiling sliding glass doors on two walls.
We did not have an ocean view, but points-users can't be choosers...
The hotel had easy access to the beach which we visited the morning before we cruised out of Miami.
Hotel staff was helpful and engaging.
The restaurant (De Rodriguez Cuba) was alkso fantastic and is separately reviewed.

Stayed here with a friend on our first trip to Miami. I would not have payed what it cost to stay at this location, but as HH Gold Member we used points.

The location has its positives and negatives. It's 10 blocks plus from the main area/dining of Ocen Drive/South Beach. This is great because it's quiet and more family oriented, but if you're looking for the South Beach experience I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The beach access is great, but as others have mentioned, can cost up to $30 per person if use a beach chair/umbrella. I understand this for non-Hilton guests, but a little much if you'd like to spend time each day on the beach.

The hours of operating for the bars was interesting. The inside bar was closed during parts of the day while the pool bar was open and the pool bar closed before seven on the weekend. We went up to the bar as it was closing and the bartender informed us we would have to go inside but couldn't because we were in bathing suits and didn't have shoes. As opposed to offering to get us drinks another guest if the pool offered to go in and get them for us.... Much appreciated!

Upon check out there were nearly $150-200 extra in charges on our bill. Vallet for two days we didn't use, multiple beach charges, along with others. The concierge was very helpful and removed the unnecessary/inaccurate charges.

Lastly, breakfast is "complimentary" for HH Members, this only includes the cold breakfast. $5/6 charge per person for the hot breakfast.

Overall, probably wouldn't choose this hotel again.

3 night trip to Miami, spent 2 here with my wife and 1 with bachelor party elsewhere. The room itself was an "upgrade" due to status (but no beach view).

Room was very nice but certainly not in any way near what I would have expected for the $1200 (for the standard room) per night price tag.

Breakfast was continental and average; unless you wanted to pay more to get to go to the hot breakfast line.

Beach access and location were fantastic, on the far south end of the beach, not quite as busy but very relaxing.

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Overall: If you are staying on points (like I did) this place is highly recommended; if you are paying for it, save your money and find something similar for 1/3 the price.

We were here for three nights and appreciated the upgrade to a suite. Hotel was friendly and staff efficient. Don't bother with the tokens for a free mojito the bar was so overpriced and the mojito was weak and tasteless. $9 for a beer after three try's to get our bill right put us off drinking there again.

The Breakfast tasty and plentiful and set us up for the day spent walking around South Beach.

Be aware this hotel is a good base but you should be prepared to walk as it is the south end of the beach and a good 20 block or 1 hour stroll to places like Lincoln.

Clean and comfortable beds which is always good to find.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a chill spot on South Beach. As we weren't interested in a lot of partying, Hilton on Ocean Drive and 1st seemed like a fine choice for us. My boyfriend suggested that Hiltons are a reliable and solid choice. I wish we had found that to be the case.

While the property itself is lovely and well-maintained, we were disappointed with several things. For one, housekeeping did a lousy job on our room the first day. They didn't replace the tissues (but they did leave the empty box!), they put used robes back on the bathroom hooks when we'd left them on the floor, and they left us with a sandy floor. Paul, at the front desk, was really awesome when I expressed my complaints, but aside from offering his apologies, he didn't really do anything.
The third day, I called down to reception and asked for more regular coffee since housekeeping had not replenished the regular coffee we had consumed. It never arrived.

Keep in mind that you are charged for all of the extras here. Want to use a chair on the beach for an hour before lunch and a full day of activity in the city? You'll be paying $10 for that. Want to park your car overnight? $35. (Garages down the block charge $20 per day.)

Oh, and check your bill closely upon check out. We were charged for $125 of drinks at the bar that we never had as well as an additional day of valet parking even though we'd moved the car.

This Hilton is not a well-run establishment. Others may be just fine, but I won't be taking any chances. No more Hilton Hotels for us.

HHonors Gold on a points 4-night stay. Requested room 915B & was upgraded to it - good remarks, this hotel does not seem to limit upgrades for guests with Status. Room 1017 is the best at the hotel but was not available. See pictures for the view of 915B.

Great location about 15 min walk to Lummus Park.

The 3-stars is due to lack of outstanding service, quality of the premises, old furnishings and resort fees. Another large factor in my rating is the cost vs. value. At these nightly rates one would expect more; read on. I do want to say we were treated very well including at check in and check out, breakfast, and other times when we request help from the staff.

Gold status get 2 waters upon arrival. When I requested, I was put on hold to 'verify' this, then indicated to take from minibar. I was charged at checkout. Though the charge was very quickly removed after I brought it up. The charge for two waters was about $12.

The building is very old, compared to other hotels of same stature in the area. Also, inside the furnishing in the main lobby need work. Once arriving in the room, one can surely notice the wear and tear. It appears not even the desk, bed stand, or table have been replaced in a VERY long time. For rooms going for half a thousand a night some seasons, this alone knocks your ROI down greatly. We also had one of the largest rooms, 915B. The others appear to be much smaller. Again, the furniture really has to be updated. The wear and tear is also very apparent on the tile flooring which was apparently not mopped or cleaned; our feet were black after unpacking.

There appear to be fees for everything. If you are not HH Gold or higher, breakfast will run about $20 per day I believe. If you want to sit at the HILTON beach club you will have to shell out another $30. Why call it HILTON beach club when HILTON guests can't even enjoy the club without an absurd fee!? I was personally informed this is NOT even waived for HH Diamond. So we only enjoyed the beach club one day. Though the charge mysteriously did not appear at checkout on our bill. If you don't have status, shell out another $15 per day for Wifi. Valet is a whopping $35 per day; this is high even compared to other hotels in SoBe. There is public parking right across the street; but on a weekend don't count on it.

The fitness center is a bit small, 2 treadmills, a bike, and about 6 machines, dumbells. I've stayed at reputable chain properties 1/4 the cost that had gyms 4x this size. The pool is also small and the pool area leaves a TON to wish for. The pictures will speak for themselves. The jacuzzi is situated between both towers on the 4th floor. For this price I would expect a 'Nikki Beach' style pool area; the beach club located next door. Inside the fitness center restrooms, there is a small sauna.

I STRONGLY recommend consideration of other hotels in the area. I could see across the street a similar stature hotel with new furnishing in the rooms and a rooftop pool that was even bigger than the Hilton's. The Hilton Bentley might be great, but for 80,000 HH points or at least a few hundred dollars per night, I don't find any situation where I'd recommend it after comparing nearby competition. I was harsh in my review so again still state the service was very good but the physical product left a lot to be desired for the high price you pay.

Room Tip: 915B is one of the largest, city view and can see the ocean as well. Room 1017 is the best in the ho...
