Our family stayed for christmas and new years eve 2007, we came back to our room in the morning after breakfast and a lot things were stolen for a value of about $20000.......we contacted their insurance and our complaint was denied because they could not prove that it was the hotel's fault.
Thank you soooo...but we are still working on it and wont give up
ITS A SHAME

OK.........this is not going to be pretty. Travel to Miami quite frequently and had a late afternoon appointment so decided I would stay on the beach since I would be returning home early the next morning. Because I am a Hyatt Gold Passport member I used points for the stay. Check in went ok - front desk clerk seemed a little inexperienced. Took the elevator to the 5th floor - cabin 501- yes that's right cabin - I will get to that later. 501 was directly across the hall from 3 elevators - the alarm in my head went off - problem location - but I was tired, wanted to get settled and grab dinner. Starting at 2:00 am until about 5:00 am the noise never stopped. Cabin 501 - it reminded me of a cruise ship cabin (tiny) decorated in Asian fashion by someone on a bad acid trip - lots of black, red and strange light fixtures and lots more. So, for check out I decided to use the tv feature to do so but of course it did not work. Check out - I am holding my breath - please lady - don't do it - but she did - "How was your stay?" Well, "Lola", it was pretty bad, actually it was lousy. She did not respond, so I ask her if she wanted to know why my stay was bad. That made her mad..................hmmm. So I explain to her my experience and her explanation was that if I had made a reservation for a longer stay - more than one night they would have put me in a better room. That was it..............Lola, you will not welcome be aboard the Hotel Victor ever again.

I stayed here this past weekend. It's a pretty cool hotel. I wish Hyatt had more properties like this. The standard rooms are on the small side, but find for 1 or 2 people. Really comfortable bed, but more desk space would be nice. Although I guess in SoBe, you should be spending most of your time outside of your room.

The bathroom was a nice size, but as others have commented, there's no place to hang any of your towels or clothes, which can get annoying. Toiletries were Hotel Victor products. I guess they're made by Portico, but I couldn't find any manufacturer on the packaging. They were definitely different than the standard Portico products, especially the lotion, which was much thicker.

There is a tiny pool with some nice lounge chairs and a cool adjoining bar. And there are some nice little nooks and crannies to sit and read or be on your laptop. I didn't really spend any time there because the weather was kind of cool this weekend, but it seemed nice. I didn't get a chance to check out the spa. I thought about it, but the treatments are typically charge at overpriced hotel prices.

The one downside I'd comment on is the service. In the evenings, they must not have as many people on staff because it would take 5 or 6 rings for someone on the "At Your Service" line to answer. A couple times, I just hung up and didn't bother. When they did answer though, they were always ready to help.

Another downside is that there was no real hotel literature describing the hotel services or facilities. All that's in the hotel portfolio is the room service menu; nothing about the pool; sundeck; or even normal information like shoe shines, housekeeping; concierge, etc.

Checkout is 12PM. i asked for a 1PM extension, and they would not grant it.

The Diamond amenity was a large bottle of Voss water and 3 fuji apples. They also gave me breakfast vouchers for $35/day for either dining at the restaurant or in-room dining. It said on the voucher that taxes and gratuities were not included, but when I checked out, they didn't charge me for that, and I had even gone over on my 2nd day, and there was no charge.

Location is great. Right on Ocean drive, with free chairs and towels and umbrellas at 11th Street beach across the street.

Overall, a very nice stay.

We had noticed this hotel on our visit to South Beach last year, and were planning to stay this year, but I almost didn't book because of the staff's attitude problem that I read about on these reviews. We decided to take a chance and were pleasantly surprised. Every staff member we met from the doorman to the front desk to the waiters/waitresses to the maids were very pleasant and helpful. This weekend was pretty slow in Miami, so that probably helped us get better than average service. The room was very nice and clean, the turndown service was very nice. The decor is modern and fits the art deco neighborhood. The pool is very warm, there are complementary beach chairs across the street. We had a great weekend and I would definitely go back again.
