I went to Miami this July, It was my first time there so I knew I had to choose a really nice place. It took me weeks to finally make the decision and go for it.

Once I arrived, the first thing I said to myself was WOW!! this location couldnt have been better!!!
When we walked inside, the amazing aroma of the lobby will hit you, If you've been there before I know you know this!!
It was kind of confusing on where my hotel room was because it was on the same floor as the pool deck and the bar, we finally found it and LET ME TELL YOU!! OMG!!! jacuzzi in the room, beautiful bed!! beautiful jelly fish like lights draping down, beautiful showers, sink, toilet almost everything!! im not kidding!
Next to my surprise, i opened the curtain and our slide door opens right to the pool deck, a beautiful site to look at in the morning and at night. I stayed in a one bedroom king sized room with me and my friend.

There I met an amazing girl who was my bartender for the rest of my stay there and we became good friends, I came back a second time to miami to visit her!

Overall, my experience at this hotel was poor. I've stayed here twice -- once through Hotwire and once through Hotels Tonight. At a substantial discount, it's serviceable. However, paying full price to stay here would be a waste of money, especially considering the number of excellent options in South Beach.

Before addressing the considerable flaws, a few positive notes:

*the fitness center is particularly well equipped for a hotel of its size;
*the pool area is comfortable;
*the bartender at the pool bar is fantastic; and
*the location is excellent.

But none of this counterbalances the problems I encountered:

*room generally rundown (TV remote control and TV itself both broken (see photo); hole in the wall (see photo); weak water pressure);
*curtains don't fully black out windows, meaning that the room is quite bright by 0700 am (see photo);
*after being out all day, had to call housekeeping upon return at 4:30 pm to make up the room (and the hotel never provided turn down service);
*mostly surly and inattentive staff (the man who checked me in did so without saying nearly a word, never smiling once; the man who checked me out was on the phone with other staff at the hotel the whole time - he was distracted, making the process overly lengthy, and when he finally handed me the bill (while still talking to someone else) he said "here" and then turned away);
*one of the higher resort fees on the beach ($25, with tax) and, unlilke the resort fee at most other Miami Beach hotels, the fee doesn't include wifi, which is an additional $15/day (but the resort fee does include free "faxes"!);
*small workspace in the room, with a stool rather than a chair at the tiny desk - business travelers be warned that this hotel is not intended for you; and
*very little "scene" around the pool and at the bars. Except for weekend nights in front of the hotel, not too much happened here the three collective nights I stayed.

There's a reason this hotel regularly discounts itself these days. As noted, there are better options on the beach. Choose wisely.

We stayed in a Superior room for three nights starting on Halloween 2012. The location on Ocean Drive is great, with plenty to do within walking distance, and the beach is right across the street with chairs included in the room. We had dinner in Bice, the hotel restaurant, our first night and the food was great. We were on the 7th floor and had no problems sleeping with all that goes on around the hotel.

The few negatives were that we arrived Wednesday evening and our room wasn't made up until Friday. We were sure to turn off the DND every time we left the room and not having fresh towels for more than a day was an inconvenience. Also, Wi-fi isn't free, which is just silly and annoying for a hotel this expensive.

The good outweigh the bad, so we would consider staying here again.

We booked both penthouse suites which open up to 1 huge suite through a connecting door taking up the whole top floor of the hotel for our family of 6. It's about as good as it gets in South Beach. Right in the middle of all the action in the party area, next door to the Versace Mansion and just a few steps from our teenage kids favourite nightime haunt, the Clevelander Hotel. No problem at all with noise, maybe because we were on the top floor. The Penthouse has it's own private elevator straight from our room to the lobby, which was nice and handy. Great sound and entertainment system, flat screen TV's in the bedrooms and lounge room. Makes a great party room if that's what you want.
The going rate was around $5000/night but after sending the hotel an email directly and a few phone calls asking for a good deal we managed to get $2000/night which was really good value considering what you get. Worth a try.
We didn't eat at the hotel as there are plenty of great restuarants lined up one after the other straight outside the door. It's only about a 2 or 3 minute walk to Miami Ink if you fancy a tattoo by Chris Garver - did a great portrait on my wife. There's a park across the road which was handy for the younger kids which leads directly to the beach. You get your own private chairs, towels and umbrellas on the beach.
There's always something happening outside the hotel - Spanish guitarists, drag shows etc - great spot to just sit and watch
All the staff were great and very helpful - nothing was too much trouble
Everyone had a great time - I would definately recommend this hotel
