We stayed at this hotel last week and I must admit after reading some of the reviews I was a bit concerned about what we would find.
I am sure that a lot of people who stay here are, like us, owners at Westgate Lakes, so the first thing to say is - this is nothing like the quality of the Lakes.
To be fair to Westgate we were sent information in advance ensuring that we knew this was a hotel, and that the units were not as big as those at the Lakes. Our room was perfectly adequate for the two of us. and it was clean although it did smell of cigarettes. There is a microwave in the room and a fridge and safe as well as a sofa and tables and chairs. However four people staying in the room would make it seem very crowded.
The staff were fine and we had a very nice dinner in the restaurant.
There is building work going on next door, but we weren't disturbed by this at all. Parking is either 5 dollars a day across a very very busy road, or you can pay 10 dollars a day and your car is parked and brought to you on request.
There is a very nice pool area. We were lucky and had a nice view of the pool and beach.
Our only gripe was that we were charged a resort fee of $5 dollars a day.
The other thing to note is nowhere does it say "Westgate" - the sign outside says "Newport resort" so you could easily drive past and miss it.
The real reason to go to this hotel is because it has the most superb private beach and pier and we would definately go back for that reason.
