“CRESCENT RESORT IS FANTASTIC AND IT ROCKS!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2010

We have been vacationing to South Beach at least 3 times a year since we moved to Florida in 2001. After trying a couple of other hotels, we finally found the best. Everyone, from the front desk to the general manager, have always tried to suffice our every request promptly , courteously, and professionally. On each of our visits, our rooms have always been spotless with a fully stocked kitchenette, including a stovetop, microwave oven, utensils, dishwasher and full sized refrigerator. On a couple of occasions we checked in with friends, and required extra linen, towels, sundries and ice, upon notifying the front desk, housekeeping supplied our room promptly. We've also forgot the code to our in room safe once and maintenance was quick to open it free of charge. We've also had other request such as adjusting the shower head, lightfixures, etc... which maintenance was quick to fix. Without question what we love the most about the hotel is the spotless clean rooms and courteous service. This hotel rocks.

Just returned from a short weekend trip to South Beach. We had previously stayed at this hotel in April and it was ok. Upon returning, it really was awful. The location is great, just steps from the beach, surrounding restaurants are wonderful too. The hotel itself was filthy. The shower has mold all over the floor. We had to take showers with flip flops on. There were giant bugs in the room when the lights went out. The rooms were only surface cleaned daily. The Art Deco hotels are old, but the furnishings left a lot to be desired. They offer beach towels, but by 9am they were all out. The street below is very noisy at night, and the old windows don't do much to curtail the noise. We decided to cut our trip short and head home to take showers in a clean place.

We stayed 3 nights here and were very pleased with our experience. The suite was large with a nice sitting and dining area and a small kitchen. The bed was really comfortable with a lovely bathroom.

All the staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in early and were happy to store our luggage on the day of departure.

The location is perfect - right on all the action of Ocean Drive. There are restuarants and bars everywhere around the hotel but there was no noise evident in our room.

I would stay here again if we wnet back to South Beach

These are renovated apartments so they are large and have a full kitchen. Perfect if you want to eat in and save $. No pool but right across from the beach, close to restaurants, shopping and clubs the location was great - could walk everywhere. You will need to pay an extra fee to keep your car parked in a lot that is not within walking distance of the hotel (as far as I know). The bed was super comfortable. The owner Jim is very friendly and helpful and can advise you where to go to eat, shop, club etc. There is a terrace on the top floor where you can sit and view the ocean. I would recommend this hotel to singles and families alike, I thought it was a good value in an area where most other accomodations are more expensive.

Wow, it was GREAT! Just as trip advisor/hotel website promised, the location is super and the idea of suites with fully equipped kitchens helps to make some meals cheaper in south beach. Overall, great value for money (booked using ‘central reservation’ at $189/night USD for mid Feb over a weekend) and in the center of the action without being too loud.

Arrival & Service
Although check in isn’t until 4pm, I arrived very early (10:30am), and within an hour a room was ready for me. Jack at the front desk went out of his way to accommodate my early arrival, and during the entire stay staff were very friendly and willing to make reservations or dining suggestions – not in the pushy way, but in a genuine friendly manner. At the end of the trip I had a late flight, and without hesitation Jack again offered to store my luggage in the office while I enjoyed my last afternoon in Miami. I felt totally safe leaving my belongings with the staff.

Rooms:
Just as depicted in other photos, the rooms are large and ‘do the job’. Washrooms have huge whirlpool tubs and there is plenty of closet space. The one bedroom slept 3 girls very comfortably, and can fit 4 adults if you push it. It would be great for a family – in fact most of the other guests I saw were families, making the building relatively low key vs. some of the loud non-stop party places down the strip. The king bed in the bedroom was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. There were 2 flat screen TVs in the room which was also a nice discovery. Beyond that, it’s not a 4 star hotel, the pull out was a basic one – they are never really that comfortable no matter where you go. If you hunt for problems with the room you’ll find them, yes the elevator certificate is expired and the corners of some of the rooms have cracked tiles/poor paint jobs… but everything was really clean – the slight scent of bleach in the halls each day was a reminder of that.

Rooftop patio:
Patio furniture is pretty basic vs. the lounge chairs you can see on adjacent rooftops, but it was GREAT to have a place you could enjoy coffee and sunrise or wine along with the view of the ocean. Being directly across from the ocean and surrounded by palm trees made every morning a fabulous one for girls from the biter Canadian cold.

Location:
On the north portion of the ocean drive art deco strip, the Crescent Resort hotel is just south of 15th street and Hotel Betsy. Starbucks is 100m away and the entrance to the public beach is also immediately across the street. To the north (10 mins/3 blocks to Lincon Rd and Collins Ave) is the big outdoor mall, and Espanola Way section of restaurants. A CVS and Walgreen’s are also only a few blocks away, offering groceries and liquor to maximize the kitchenette you’ve paid for at the Crescent Resort. To the south along Ocean Drive are more restaurants and clubs. To walk to the Miami marina on the southern point of the island is about 30 min, but it’s a great walking tour to enjoy and provides glimpses of giant yachts to dream about.

Overall, we found a lot of the shops along Collins (north of the standard Banana Republic, Gap, Guess chains etc.) to be pretty tacky tourist shops selling tight club ware and insane stiletto shoes intermixed with the most tattoo shops I’ve ever seen. Coming from Toronto Canada, it reminded us of the “most embarrassing that queen street had to offer”. Higher end shops dominate the Lincoln mall area, and the HUGE Aventura mall (30 min cab drive or1 hr bus ride north of south beach) more than made up for the oddities on Collins Ave.

Other info:
Free internet in the lobby is slow and blocks facebook website, but it’s FREE, so no complaints. Internet access is also available in each room for $8/day, but I didn’t feel the need to be too connected on vacation.

Flat rate cab rides from the hotel to the airport were $32 usd – for about a 25 min drive. Cabs drive along ocean drive continually, so no need to call for one ahead.

Our daughter got married in South Beach the week before Christmas! Hectic to say the least.. .in my search for the perfect spot--"home away from home" for our family & friends... I happened upon Crescent Resort ... what a find it was. Judi helped me tremendously... she made our arrangements soooo easy--from airport transportation, to wheelchair for grandma, to high chairs for babies! Jim the General Manager made sure our family & friends day to day needs were taken care of...SO friendly and warm.

It was definitely a home away from home for all of us... the restaurant next door was the perfect breakfast spot and became our morning hang out... ALL of our guests said it was the perfect place, perfect South Beach location and would come back definitely. We walked everywhere--totally convenient and affordable!

SO thank you Judi and Jim--for taking such good care of us! Much appreciated!

The hotel is right in front of south beach, great location, lots of restaurants around and shopping. The manager was welcoming and accomodated us with tours and guided us to the fun/interesting places. Maid service was great! The rooms are comfortable and have a full kitchen and sitting area, great hotel!!!
