“SOUTH BEACH STAR”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

I write this while at the hotel.I booked this last year when my timeshare company included it in the Diamond family of hotels.Just the location is a winner. I would call it the quieter & family friendly end of SOBE. There is no clutter of restaurants right outside the hotel hindering the view or noisy diners. There is nice seating on the verandah outside to sip wine or just people watch. The rooms are spacious and we had the ocean view facing the road and lummus park. It was just fun to sit by the window and see the ocean or watch the people and cars go by. The rooms are fully equipped with more stuff than one has at home. The Walgreens just behind the hotel provided easy access for wine, beer, water & snacks. There are a lot more stores on Washington st which is a block over. You can also catch the local bus to all over south beach and the grocery stores like public or whole foods for .25 cents. The hotel provides awesome coffee in the lobby round the clock (it's better than Starbucks which is across the road). On Sunday's they also have a continental breakfast for guests in the lobby and newspapers.Do not rent a car if you book this location. Use UBER and the 150 bus to and from the airport for $2.35pp(you need exact change or buy your ticket at the airport or local merchant in SOBE).The roof top was being refurbished & the gym so we did not use them.It is wonderful to stay at a property with all the Art Deco history & mull about the hey days. I am booked for 2016

Crescent Resort was quieter and nicer than I expected, given Miami Beach's high energy level and the reasonable cost of the Resort (given higher priced accommodations all around.) Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit was clean and spacious enough for two adults and two teenagers. Despite previous reviews, we saw no signs of bugs. We were firm about no interest in "orientations" upon check-in, and the staff never tried to sell us thereafter.

As a Diamond International member, we chose The Crescent Resort and it worked out great. Yes we came in "knowing" it is part of a time-share property, and you always get approached for a Update Meeting. That being said it's up to you to accept or decline, we always accept. We get more information on membership and the GIFTS $100. Visa cash card and $100. Dinner certificate to Wonderful French Bistro "Colette Little French Bistro" and Discount tours not too bad for 55 minutes, (only you can decide if it works for you).
The Resort is OLDER, Small and limited with it's amenities. But your in South Beach, You are not there to stay in your room. The one bedroom was find for us with small Kitchen, King Bed, Sofa Bed, private bathroom. No it's not the Big Price Hotel, but if your reading reviews it works.
Clean, Safe, Comfortable, oh yeah, extra small elevator. Central LOCATION, you can walk to where ever you want.
The Staff was Wonderful to us, everyone treated us well, greeted me by name, always had time to answer questions, also hooked me up with a Valet discount (cash deal), well worth it. Yes South Beach is expensive on "Ocean Dr." just a few blocks inland and its a little better, not much but better.
The Crescent Resort is a nice place for the price. If you want Better it will cost you but you might not get the kitchen which is handy and a money saver. The Front porch was a nice place in the evening for drinks, relaxing and people watching. The roof top patio area is nice Great view if your standing limited view if seated.
Overall if I were to return to South Beach, I would stay at the Crescent Resort again.

This was our first trip to South Beach so found this hotel was at a great location, not too far from it all, but close enough that it did not take ages to walk everywhere. Thats the only pro's I'm afraid. When we checked in after a very long flight, we were exhausted and just wanted to rest. However, the guy from concierge, Gustavo, decided to come up after we had checked in to give us a 1/2 hour selling spiel on timeshares for the hotel and if we would be interested. This was the last thing we wanted to listen to and in fact, spoilt the rest of our stay at what could have been an enjoyable stay. The TV was also not working in the main room, but there was a fridge, freezer, cooker, utensils and a separate bedroom (with another TV) and bathroom so the size of the room was very good. Parking is a massive nightmare, valet was not always available so we struggled to park, so word of advice is to only hire a car if you have to, as you can walk everywhere and parking is very limited and very expensive. I am aware that this hotel is on a busy main street, but when I checked in, I asked for a quiet room as I am a light sleeper. Yet, I got allocated a room where I could hear the bin truck every morning at 6.30am! I did not need an alarm clock and I slept terribly whilst I stayed here. We had to pay a resort fee for each night we stayed there, which includes the use of wi-fi, gym etc but the wi-fi was rather slow. There is a small fitness centre which we never used and coffee and newspapers available in reception. There is also a Starbucks close by and the location was excellent, not much view from the rooms but its only across the road from the beach. There is also a roof top area to view Ocean Drive, which was fun to people watch. The rest of the staff we encountered were great and very helpful. Just a shame we were left with a poor first impression. Would I stay here again? Probably not. Theres plenty of other pricey hotels to choose from!

A bit expensive, but worth it for the location close to everything. The Sofa bed was ubarable so don't plan on using it to sleep on unless totally drunk. And don't bother asking for an Ocean view because windows are dirty. And the noise from Ocean Dr is unbarable unless totally drunk. Regardless, the location is worth it. I'd sleep on the floor to be in near so much of what South Beach is about. Front desk guy's were great.

Room Tip: Not in the front, can't see out window to the Ocean anyway and street noise is worse.

We stayed here through our ownership in Diamond International. We were very pleased. The location is great...across from the beach and restaurants and stores are all an easy walk. It was north of the louder, more boisterous section of Ocean Drive. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our one bedroom unit was spacious, clean with a well equipped kitchenette and very comfortable bed. If you won't be traveling outside of South Beach, I recommend not renting a car because it is not really needed and expensive to park. Valet is the $38/day and sometimes you can wait up to 15 minutes to get your car. While they state that there is a fitness area, it is quite limited and small. They could use more seating (only 4 chairs) on the front porch as it is a nice place to relax and is usually occupied.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the building border the alley where the trash is removed every morning around 6...

Improvement noticeable yet still have a ways to go. Nice people running the property and the description is correct, it is a boutique hotel(small). Not for older crowd especially at night, noisy crowds!

Room Tip: Stay away from the front facing rooms if you want quiet sleeping at night!
