Check in was quick. Receptionist was pleasant and helpful whenever I had a question. Rooms and bathroom area very very small but clean. Pool was heated but wasnt all that clean however very inviting. Beach across the street. Everything within walking distance. Didnt have breakfast there as I saw a big rat running around in the courtyard. Stay was comfortable enough as I only spent 2 days and as most of the day I was out. Good location.

As you may have gathered from the title I have give this review, I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. Whilst its location was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel itself is quite poor and needs a total restyling. The pool was filthy but with a great beach round the corner you are much better off going there.

There are plenty of shops and restaurants around the corner and the beach is a couple of minutes away so its location is hard to beat although I am glad that we only spent 3 nights there as it was long enough.

Room Tip: Somewhere else in the same location

Thank you for writing, and mentioning our friendly staff and central location. Our property is one of the finest examples of art- deco architecture and design. Any changes and improvements in regards to the building that we can undertake are very limited and have to have approval from the city, however there just might be updates and major redesigning happening in the future. Come check us out again to see what’s new.

Location, location, location, perfect for a family with teens. Dorchester utilizes it's sister hotel the Marseille for beach access and the use of umbrellas and each chairs. The pool at the Marseille is also very nice with spa water to keep hydrated available on the pool deck. Dorchester also has a pool, but it's a bit smaller. Both hotels have a happy hour from 7-8 pm. Again the better one is at the Marseille. There is a gym at the Dorchester it has a few sparse pieces of equipment that could use a few repairs to have it in good working order. Had the breakfast buffet (part of the summer special). It was a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, pastries, the works.
Came in on a red-eye, staff was helpful AFTER we were able to check in at about 1:00 pm. Before that all we could do was leave our luggage with the concierge, no resort access since we weren't "officially" checked in.

Room Tip: It was quiet because we had a room with zero view (the wall of a construction site) and in the back...

Thank you for choosing Hotel Dorchester South Beach and for your review. I'm glad to see that you were able to take advantage of our beach club behind our sister property and all the amenities we have to offer. Also, at the sister property we are working on a complete renovation of the fitness room, with the Dorchester’s fitness being next on our list. I hope that your stay was really enjoyable in our prime South Beach location. I want to welcome you back in the near future.

This hotel is a pretty sweet deal for your buck. Location is GREAT and you get to use the Marseilles beach chairs for FREE. Don't expect luxury. The place has been remodeled and it looks nice but as far as decoration goes, it's a hot mess. My two main complaints are 1. breakfast is not included and 2. No microwave or coffee maker inside the rooms. Even Quality Inns have those. But the staff was very nice and very helpful (we had to warm up some baby bottles in the kitchen). Also, my husband claims there was mold in the shower but I didn't see it. I did, however, see a stain on one of the towels. Bottom line is I would recommend if you are low maintenance and just looking for fun adventure.

Thank you for choosing the Dorchester Hotel South Beach and for your feedback. We strive to be a great value in the central South Beach location and provide as many amenities as possible. The microwaves and coffeemakers are a part of the rooms, but only the suites. We do provide a big coffee dispenser in the lobby in the afternoon hours. Breakfast is included only with reservations that have that option as a part of the reservation. It is convenient, the food is fresh and delicious. I hope that overall you have enjoyed your stay. Thank you for writing.

I went there with my husband and I would definitely go back to this hotel. It was great!! The room was pretty big, the location is great, the pool is a little small but they give you passes to access the pool at the Marseilles (their twin hotel) and the beach with chairs and umbrellas, the bar was awesome for one last drink before bedtime, the service was really good too! The only bad thing would say is the wifi was really slow!

We stayed here for my Bachelorette Party. We chose the suites because it offered a kitchen, dining, and living area. I have no complaints about the hotel. The pictures are true to what it is. It was clean and spacious. The lighting in the living room by the mirror was horrible for doing your makeup (only a problem for a bunch of girls). Walgreens was three blocks away where we picked up breakfast (utensils included in the suite) and water/soda. We relied on uber to get anywhere around Miami. No more than $10 for a trip, to Ocean Drive, $4. You have access to their sister resort across the street for beach access, which they provide towels, beach umbrellas, and beach chairs for you. I have two complaints! The one complaint was check out. They should do express checkout instead of waiting on a long line at the lobby! A lot of hotels just slip your final bill under the door and that should be it. Dorchester, catch on please! The second complaint was one of the employees was very rude when we asked for more towels. We were four in the suite and asked for 6 towels (two extra to dry our hairs - it's a girl problem). The employee was very rude and said, "there's only 4 in the room so I'm sending 4." Otherwise, service would have got 5 stars. We had problems with our iron and they sent a new one right away. Overall, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: The suites are great when traveling with a group of friends!

Thank you for writing and for the valuable feedback. We hope you had a fun and enjoyable bachelorette party in one of our spacious suites. We try to keep up with the Miami-Dade green lodging and restaurant program to preserve water and our environment. Our suites are set up with 4 sets of towels, and we gladly swap the used towels with new ones. Regardless, this should have been explained in a different manner so please accept my apology for the misunderstanding. Thank you for staying with us. Indeed, we want to welcome you back… perhaps for another bachelorette party.

As a lot of the properties in South Beach, the Hotel is old and that is the main problem. Building is not properly maintained and the room feels old and things don't work as they were supposed to. A few examples: Beds are not that comfortable, A/C does not work well, Bathroom is really small and overall maintenance could be way better. I stayed in one of their suites which was quite spacious but the problems described above apply. Positives: cleaning service was ok, the pool is a good option when coming from the beach, beach service is good as you can get an umbrella and chairs to relax, good location, the suite is spacious and the kitchen is good. Negatives: overall maintenance, beds, A/C in the room, the fact the hotel is always trying to squeeze money from you. They tried to charge for a piece of bread my son was "supposed" to be eating and In the suite kitchen they provide a sponge for dish cleaning but they are so cheap they actually cut the sponge in three and only give you one third of it. They tells you something.

Room Tip: If you are staying in a suite, ask for 160. This is the only suite that has two bedrooms(king size b...

Thank you for your feedback. We work hard to make sure the upkeep of this art-deco historic property is at its best. I apologize we didn’t meet your expectations, but be sure to visit us sometime in the future as you may see some major design changes and improvements. Then we can provide a stay that’s not just average but awesome.
