“Very well located hotel to visit south Miami beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

Excellent location but rather poor service (staff has forgotten how to smile - what is rather rare in Florida, we have seen).
Our 2nd floor room was simply and very old fashioned equipped and was very poorly isolated: a lot of noise from inside or outside the hotel. In line with Miami rythm but a bit overwhelming when just landed with 6 hours jetlag to recover... Good it was only for one night...

Based on reviews here and cost I had higher expectations. My problem was mostly the room. It wasn't very small but for a family of four with a baby it was uncomfortable. The room needs update ASAP - lots of tear and wear. Beds are wobbly. Bathroom is bordering disgusting. No place for necessities - tiny shelf above the toilet, we had to buy new toothbrushes because they fell into toilet. We almost moved to other hotel but decided to suffer another night and not to drag our stuff. Breakfast was not included in our rate - they charge a mysterious 15 percent service fee and also 15 percent gratuity on top of the price. What a rip off. Can't believe I paid so much money for this dump.

Rooms were nice. Right were I wanted to be. Bar seemed expensive to me. Breakfast was very nice. Airport bus stops right outside so that was excellent. I think it was about $3 from the airport. I got the same bus back it has to be the best deal in Miami

Loved this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was smallish, but clean and had character. The courtyard is well kept and the bar has nightly drink specials. THe location is ideal. Close enough to all the action, but quiet at the end of the night. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby.
We had access to the beach with two chairs and an umbrella, just a short walk from the hotel.
My only complaint would be lack of parking. I had to park in a nearby garage.

Wonderful place, very helpful staff ! Especially Carlos !
A great time there.
Well situated in Collins Avenue, 5 minutes walk from the beach, stores and restaurants.
Don't hesitate ! If you plan to go to Miami South Beach, just book there !

Room Tip: The standard rooms are a little too small for 4 people but the suites look just great ! Very clean a...

Loved this hotel, staff was accommodating and friendly, price was beyond reasonable for the area. Got there early, laz stored our bags so we could go to the beach. There is a $15. Daily beach fee, you get lounges, towels and beach access is right across the street. Location of this hotel is perfect, close enough to walk to everything. Rooms were great, spacious and clean. The hotel bar was fun, nice daily drink special, bartenders were attentive. Jose and everyone at the front desk were cautious and helpful. I would stay here again.

The Dorchester was a pleasant stay. I traveled with my husband and this was our first stay in this hotel. We have vacationed in South Beach, Miami plenty of times, and we always stay in Collins/Ocean Drive, usually between 20st and 1st street. The hotel is located in a great area of South Beach since it is close to all the action, but away from the rowdy, party goers.

The rooms of the Dorchester are spacious, which is a commodity to come by when staying in South Beach. The hotel is across the street from the clear, and calm waters of the South Atlantic Ocean which makes it the perfect sunny and relaxing vacation. It is also conveniently located near the shops of Lincoln Road, and delectable restaurants that have an array of various international cuisines for every palate.

I rated the facilities a 4 for the simple reason that the pool needs a paint job, but it is always kept cleaned. However, not many hotels in this area have pool which is another reason why I recommend this hotel for those who enjoy swimming or want to relax with a poolside cocktail.

The hotel has a bar which offers a Happy Hour from 7-8pm, with Vodka Cranberry Drinks for $1 or buy one get one free drink; a deal that is tough to come by in South Beach. The price per room was adequate for this time of year (early March). Overall, I would recommend this hotel for those who want to enjoy South Beach for what it is worth (sun, beach, shopping, tasty Cuban cuisine, art deco, museums, cocktails/nightlife, and people watching), all of the aforementioned without breaking your wallet.
