“Loved Some Things--But Not All!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2008

We have recently returned from the Loew's--we knew what to expect, having stayed at Loew's in other cities and this one had all the bells and whistles one would expect. However, we were booked on a floor with a LOT of repair work going on in adjacent rooms at ALL hours--we had to call the desk at midnight on a Saturday to complain about the hammering, sawing, and banging before it would stop. This went on for all six nights that we stayed, starting at about 9 am and going on well into the night. Our bill was only adjusted about $300--this was really not acceptable. However, on the plus side, the service was excellent and helpful, the food in Preston's, the sushi bar (even though there is not a big variety) and over in Emeril's absolutely delicious! The bathrobe was the plushest I've EVER felt, and with the exception of spotted sheets, the last night, the room looked to be clean. We had to accept double beds even though booking several weeks in advance and that was a pain. The room seemed to never really get cool even though set on 65 degrees. Be prepared to tip, tip, and tip some more. If you want a refrigerator, that is an extra $30 but that is for the length of your stay. Room service is superb if pricey, of course. The concierge directed us to fabulous eating places. The elevator wait is very short--would probably stay again --with some guarantees!

We have just returned from staying at the Lowes Hotel, South Beach.

Upon arrival we walked into the lobby area and was very impressed - marble flooring, nice floral arrangements etc. Checking in was not so impressive! We booked a standard room requesting a balcony, king size bed and rolloway bed for my daughter. We were advised that not every standard room has a balcony or king size bed. However we booked this 6 months in advance, our travel agents requested this, I sent two e-mails requesting this and made two telephone calls to ensure that our request was met. We were told on arrival that no balcony rooms were available nor king size beds! After seeing a third "manager" and was constantly told nothing was available - miraculously a room with our requests suddenly appeared! The room was o.k., however the bathroom needed modernising.

The breakfast area was nice and the waiting staff were charming and couldn't do enough for you.

The swimming pool area was another issue! Their policy is that once you got a bed by the pool if you decided to leave it (for whatever reason) the pool staff would leave a note on the bed with the time you left stating that you have one hour to return or the bed would be given to someone else! So without realising this policy, we had lunch at the pool restaurant, which took longer than an hour, came back and our beds were given to someone else! Having eaten in the hotel's restaurant! Another incident was we were swimming in the pool, when we got back to our beds the pool staff had left one of those notes! This ridiculous policy left us feeling quite unrelaxed as when we left our beds we were clock watching the whole time!

When on holiday relaxation by the swimming pool is very important to us and for this reason we will not be returning to the Lowes South Beach.

Just to mention the Lobby Bar. Wonderful service and the best Mohitos in South Beach. Jose really takes care of you. Ask him for his special 10 Cane Mohito.

Our experience with the hotel was very disappointing from start to finish. I spoke with Loews directly to obtain the 'best discounted rate' only to later find out that you can get a much better rates on-line. Then when I received the confirmation, I noted that they have charged us for a Luxury room (as agreed) however allocated us a standard room.
We booked a car through the hotel to pick us up from the airport with an infant car seat (a letter was faxed to the hotel followed by a phone call to ensure that an infant car seat would be available). When the driver came to pick us up from at the airport the car seat provided was a seat suitable for a much older child and not at all suitable for our infant. When we mentioned this to the hotel, their response was to contact the car company directly despite the fact that we booked the car through Loews. This abdication of responsibility is not consistent with a quality hotel.
Finally to top our experience off, our room was two doors down from active renovations. The manager immediately offered to relocate us but could only do it for one night and then we would have to move again. We were booked for 7 nights - cancellation policy is 72 hrs normally but the hotel agreed to allow us to leave without penalty after one night - we checked out first thing the next day. We moved to The Tides - all that we had been looking for in a smaller boutique hotel - fantastic service, great location, amazing large rooms - our South Beach stay would have been spoiled if we had stayed any longer at Loews.

This is a consistently good hotel - the rooms are extremely well appointed.... great beds, big TVs, lots of space for working, huge bathrooms with full amenities, and so clean and new feeling. The lobby is huge, open, and just smells good for some reason. The individual serve coffee maker in the room is a great touch. All bars and restaurants are kind of expensive, but really good food. This was my third stay at Loews Miami Beach and this time I made sure I took advantage of amenities I had missed out on in previous trips. The pool area is great and attentive. It seems odd to complain that pool water is too warm, but their pool reallly is on the warm side for mid-summer. The staff around the pool is great. The (new) fitness center is a great one, and at $10 a day for a fitness buff, it's worth it, but even so, it seems like a steep price for the hotel room price.
I would definitely stay here again - it's so close to lots of great miami beach nightlife and shopping, close to the airport, and you can get privacy here if you want it. My only complaint is that front desk staff was a bit slow. The concierge desk is great, but the check in and check out folks were slow and bothered. The spa was extermely expensive - maybe that's why they gave me a $20 off certificate when I checked in, it was for any service over $100, and I really couldn't find any service under $100 anyway. Would definitely stay here again, it's a great location for a work trip.

My husband, 2 children, and father recently stayed at the Loews Hotel in Miami. We had a great time! The staff were super nice, especially the pool waitstaff, Will and Irvings were always there when needed and went the extra mile to get whatever was wanted. The bellstaff were friendly, concierge were helpful. The hotel and staff exceeded our expectations. The food is great, large portions, however, very pricey. There is a French Bakery very close to the hotel (which we had read about on Trip Advisor before the trip), the food is really good and not as expensive. Ocean drive has LOTS of places to eat and the DRINKS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Lincoln Avenue has a lot of restaurants, we did not have any bad experiences. If you want something for lunch, try Rustica Pizza for ALL kinds of pizzas, we enjoyed a pizza with arugula, kalamata olives, feta, fresh tomatoes, and proscuitto--excellent! My husband and I and some friends are going back (with no children this time) in 2 weeks to enjoy the nightlife. Can't wait!

This is one of Miami Beach's landmark hotels. The rooms are beautiful and the pool is amazing. During the day the pool security is wonderful but the only problem is that it could get a little busy and crazy. The food is very good but very expensive. I recommend eating away from the hotel for breakfast. Emerils wasn't that good when I ate there so I don't recommend that. The food by the pool, however, is wonderful. From quesidillas to sweet potato fries I loved the food. The service is unlike any other. The staff is always there when you need them and they take the time to personally introduce themselves to you. If you are traveling with children they give them gifts and the kids wont get bored at this hotel as they have a movie theater and everything. In addition the beach access is beautiful, you are right on the beach. I enthusiastically recommend this hotel.
