“Loews Miami”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Stayed here for three (3) nights in August. (2nd - 5th). Very nice hotel. Had a room w/ balcony and two double beds. Check-in was a breeze; everyone very accomodating. The room was clean, furnishings new. No funny smells. There were three of us sharing the room and we had plenty of space for our things. Service in the room was good (fresh towels every day). Hotel is right on beach. The pool had a few too many kiddies for my taste. They run a kid's club as well which seemed nice but this being a girl's getaway I could not appreciate it. Other than that, service by the pool was good, staff was upbeat and friendly. And although sometimes crowded staff goes out of their way to find chairs and accommodate as soon as possible. Loews is also within walking distance of just about everything (shopping @ Lincoln Road/restaurants/movies/clubs). So don't necessarily have to spend too much money getting around. Didn't use the spa other than to leave but it looked great and the showers were amazing!

Room Tip: If you want to enjoy more of the day after your 11am check out the hotel allows you to leave your ba...

We stayed at Loews for a conference and were very impressed. The service is amazing - every single person we have encountered from the hotel has been wonderful. We asked to upgrade our room to an ocean view, and the receptionist spent 10 minutes looking for an available room, and we ended up with exactly what we wanted - great view of the pool and the beach.
The hotel is effortlessly elegant and everything is just very nice. We have had smoothies, coconut water and other free snacks served to us as we were waiting in the lobby, sitting on the beach, and walking near the pool. Nice touch that I have not seen at another hotel in the US.
The rooms are not huge, but they are nice, and the bathroom is very roomy. Our shower did have some draining issues, and the bathroom could definitely use a little more area to place toiletries, but overall very nice. The bedding is very comfortable and the pillows are amazing!!
The pool area is beautiful and clean, as is the beach and the boardwalk just outside of the hotel pool area. When you enter the pool area, there is a towel "hut" that also offers fruit flavored water and free Evian face spray and tanning lotion. The chairs at the pool all have nice big towels covering them, in addition to the regular towels.
Overall, just a very nice hotel with a lot of nice little "extras". Plus - the location is perfect - Lincoln Ave 1 block away, and Ocean Ave a block in the opposite direction. There are also a lot of good restaurants within just a few blocks of the hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: Ask for an Ocean view upgrade

Amazing location- close to everything. Great pool with luxury details. Mostly kid friendly but watch out for lack of bathtub- no place to bath a baby. Also no fridge or microwave but can be rented for $30/stay. Food just ok, but tons of restaurants nearby. Beautiful beach. Chairs/umbrella $12.50 each/day. Overall a great place to stay.

We booked an ocean-view suite for our 20th Anniversary the weekend that Sandy blew through Miami. It was expensive but I figured it was worth it. My review is going to point out some negative things but Sean, an assistant manager, responded to an email the next day by calling me and was very sympathetic and offered us an upgrade to a suite for our next visit.

The hotel and property are wonderful and if I had the money to spend, I would stay there again. Who knows, we just might.

Here are the negatives:

Pool was cold. I was told it was heated when I made the reservation but found out that was only done at night. Really? With 25mph gusts after Sandy blew through, you would think that someone would have heated the pool during the day. Hundreds of people were around the pool but only a handful were actually in it. It was too cold for me to even take a dip.

Pool staff are not attentive. There were no lounge chairs available. They hand out two towels – one to cover the chair and another for your body. When people leave, they lazily leave the towels on the chairs. The staff should be eagle-eyed and check for departing guests and ask “May I take your towels for you”, thus freeing up the lounge chair. We waited for an hour to spot a couple leaving (and not taking their towels) and grabbed two chairs.

Room thermostats are motion-controlled. When you leave the room, it goes into the 70’s and takes 30+ min to cool off when you return.

I was told that the suites have a guest fridge. They don’t. You have to order one up.

Room WiFi is NOT free. Lobby WiFi is free. This is ridiculous. I am paying $650/night and I have to pay for WiFi in my room??

Standard restaurant – nothing fancy. A sushi bar in the lobby? No thanks. Emeril’s is long gone and they have not replaced it with another destination restaurant yet.

Room Tip: Ocean view suites are really nice.

The hotel is starting to look a bit dated and the rooms are on the smaller side but overall the pool service, bar staff and cleanliness was excellent - you can't beat the location. Will try the Ritz however next as the pool is larger and have heard the food is better but overall this is very good option right on the beach and minutes walk to Ocean Drive.

Good service, excellent location, friendly staff and very comfortable rooms; what else does one want from a hotel stay? . . . . . . . . . . . . . ............."...................Breakfast a little disappointing though compared to all rest. More cuisines and tastes should be served

I stayed for 5 nights at the Loews during a conference. The lobby is quite depressing, but the personnel is friendly and professional. The room was confortable and the service was up to the standards in such a hotel. Breakfast was good, although not exceptional. Well located hotel next to everything worth it in South Beach: Ocean and Lincoln Streets.

Room Tip: Ask for a southward looking room with balcony, ideally above level 14: ensures a view over ocean + d...
