“over-priced with very poor service”

We stayed at the Loews hotel at the end of Dec 2007 following a cruise.

The room we were allocated was a partial ocean view and was far too small for 2adults and 2 children.

We moved to a rotundra room (street view) for an upgrade fee.

The concierge staff were the worst I have ever experienced - certainly at a hotel of this standard and cost. It appeared that whenever we had a question it was a case of "the answer in no - now what was the question".

Watch out for the valet parking rip-off, they charge $31 per day for valet parking and really all they are doing is parking the car right across the street. You can do this yourself (it is literally right across the street) for $16 per day !!!

Evening turndown service is erratic even when you ask for it - again not what you would expect of a 5* hotel.

The bar at the Loews is poor given that this is south beach as it has no atmosphere. Also the same cocktail could taste different each time it is ordered !

The pool is large but far too small for peak periods like christmas and new year unless of course you like the idea of sitting like a sardine !

If you are a beach lover - watch out as the it costs $10 for each beach bed and $15 for an umbrella i.e. $55 EACH day for a family of four !!!

I would recommend it if you want breakfast eat outside at the french deli on collins avenue. This is located about 20 yards on the right as you exit the hotel.

Overall, this is a a 5* hotel with 5* prices with 3* service.

Save your $$$ and stay somewhere else as this place is over-rated.

“Great Location”

Loews Miami Beach Hotel

Stayed between cruises Sat to Mon. Well equipped room with partial ocean view. Comfortable beds. A little noise from the corridor so not well sound-proofed. The best bath robes in any hotel I have ever stayed in! Food excellent. And I mean excellent. Outstanding service from bar, restaurant and conscierge. Great location too, and would definately stay there again when in Miami Beach/South Beach.

“Marvellous Stay!!!!!”

Loews Miami Beach Hotel

myself and 5 girlfriends stayed at the loews summer 2007.
The hotel in my opinion was fantastic, on arrival we were upgraded to 2 rooms with balconys, champagne and strawberries (amazing). The most wonderful part of the hotel is the pool area, the staff are very attentive to your every need and the hotel has loads of special touches such as frozen grapes, free smoothies, icey water and evian misting.
The loews offer a 24 hour pool service, poolside dining is great the food is lovely and service is prompt. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The only negative was that security is vey tight, if you happen to forget or lose your room key then staff seem to tranform into FBI agents. Ensure that all names that are occupying the room are registered at the front desk on arrival to avoid this problem.
Other than this the loews is a fab hotel and definitely worth the money.

“Corporate hotel lacking common sense”

Loews Miami Beach Hotel

I stayed at the Loews hotel during the week of Miami's Art Basel art fair. The room I stayed in was large and well appointed but certain basics were lacking and that is the source of my problems with the hotel. First of all, I could not get internet access via wireless at all in the hotel. They don't have wireless above the 3rd floor and nobody knew the encryption key to get on when I went down to the lobby and asked. For a hotel costing over $550 per night this is appalling. Even the direct ethernet connection did not work and I was told it was not my computer. On top of that, assuming you want internet access they are going to charge you $10 per day which is a pure gouge in this day and age. In order to get connected I aimed my computer out the window of my partial ocean view room and filched a connection from an open network in the next building over. Hardly useful!

Another thing that is silly is the parking. They are charging $31 per day for valet parking and really all they are doing is parking the car right across the street. You can do this yourself (it is literally right across the street) for $16 per day so it helps and cuts down on the annoyance factor if you are like me and don't like to be visibly gouged.

The television in the room looks decent except you have an HDTV with no HD signal and there is no way to change the aspect ratio so that you end up viewing standard TV on a 16:9 screen so everything looks totally squished and distorted. It's weird! Give me HD or give me the ability to set normal TV to 4:3 so it is watchable lol.

They do have alarm clocks with an iPod interface which is pretty cool so I give them kudos for that.

Maid service was very inconsistent. I only had turndown service on one evening and I could never figure out why since I made a point of telling them when I would be in and out of my room.

The bed was very comfortable and they had clearly just put new decor in the room so that helped get rid of the tired look I had seen in the past.

The bar at the Loews is absolutely a joke. Someone should really look into doing SOMETHING!!! It is South Beach after all. It is just so sterile and completely uninviting. It is the deadest bar in the whole area. I am not saying it should be like the Delano but someone has to look into making it at least seem like a place you would want to go. It is like having a beer in a bad mall with terrible music. Zero ambiance.

The pool is large but beware if you want some peace and quiet because there are lots of families that let the kids go nuts in the pool and seem like they disappear so it can get loud in a bad way. I have kids so I have natural filters but really...I would not let them yell like that lol. They really could do a lot with the pool area to make it at least a little more cool. Pool drink service is good but of course they prices are a gouge like everywhere else.

The workout area is pretty serviceable but you feel like Agent 86 in Get Smart trying to get to it because there are so many doors you have to go through it is easy to get lost.

The food at the breakfast buffet is quite good. I would recommend it if you want a large breakfast. It is not cheap but if you are hungry it is nice. Eat outside if possible for at least the semblance of some ambiance. Emeril's restaurant is also very good although pricey. I had the redfish and found it quite good.

“Loews, great service as always”

Loews Miami Beach Hotel

Dec 8, 2007

This was our second time staying at the Loews because we enjoyed it so much the last time.

I signed up for the Loews points program since we enjoyed our stay the last time and one of the perks was having a treat delivered to the room. We chose milk and cooking thinking our daughter would like that, but she did not touch it, but at least I enjoyed it :)
The best features of this hotel are its service and location.
They always give great recommendations and room service was very flexible with our requests for dinner for our daughter (she is a very fussy eater), and even made some microwave macaroni and cheese for us.

Lincoln road was great at night and thanks to the forum we didn;t have one unpleasant dining experience.
We ate at le bon, tiramesu, sushi samba and miss yips...all were great. Le bon and sushi samba had the best drinks though.
For ice cream you have to try Frieze's. It was great.

Shopping on Lincoln road was great and the South beach Local bus in convenient to get to the lower end of South Beach for shopping. There is a book store on Lincoln road (cant remember the name, but its the only one there) and they great at finding you a book you'll love.

The only minus is that the rooms/bathroom are kind of small for what you pay.
