“At Last a Boutique Hotel With a Great, Friendly Service”

Sagamore Miami Beach

Sep 8, 2006

My family - 2 adults and 2 teenage girls - spent the weekend at the Sagamore at the end of a long holiday in Florida. We were looking for a bit of luxury and comfort to round off our holiday in style and we certainly found it here!

We booked a one bedroomed ocean front suite which cost about $400 per night but it was superb and well worth the splurge especially in a town where hotel rooms are very expensive anway. We'd paid $222 for a night in a Hampton Inn when we arrived and although it was ok, the Sagamore was far more than twice as good for twice the price - it was incomparable.

Location is excellent. Right on the beach and 1 block from Lincoln Mall. We dumped our rental car before checking in and didn't need a car again all weekend.

The lobby is a beautiful white open space with some excellent art work - more like an art gallery than a hotel lobby. The receptionist was very friendly and very helpful - no hint of attitude at all and this was true for every single member of staff we encountered. A big relief really because we were a bit worried about that. We're not exactly decrepit but on the other hand our days of wearing high fashion and going clubbing are long past - we didn't want to feel out of place.

The suite was - excitingly - on the penthouse floor and overlooked straight down the pool and gardens to the beach. Fantastic view. We had a long hallway, a loft style lounge with a kitchenette and a sofa bed, a large balcony with table and chairs, a superb bedroom with an extremely comfortable bed and a large and luxurious bathroom. We were not disappointed in the room at all. Linens were first class - everything was really top quality.

We spent most of our two days around the pool which was also gorgeous. Its got a walk in end and is plenty warm enough and great to just relax in. Around the pool are a variety of really comfortable lounge chairs and plenty of umbrellas and the pool girls cover the chairs with towel covers and give you extra towels for your heads - really comfortable. The pool bar also serves snacks and the staff are really friendly and fun. One waiter took the trouble to speak to nearly everyone and was just so nice. He chatted to the kids, to us, to the cool 20s and 30s that were hanging out - really made a good atmosphere.

There are also cabanas for more privacy which would be nice if you had babies.

To get to the beach you just walk through the gate and you're there. Each room gets a free pair of beach lounges and an umbrella and towels. You just sign a book and they set it all up for you. The beach was great for swimming and walking.

At night the hotel underwent a real change as Social at Sagamore took over the lobby and the gardens/pool bar. It was heaving with lots of beautiful people having a great time. The garden is set up with little outdoor "rooms" showing video art and looks very beautiful and of course there is music. The hotel restaurant looked great - it was also packed. They had a velvet ribbon out front keeping attendance down but as residents you are just ushered in. We grabbed some drinks and sat in the garden and enjoyed the music and watching the scene.

I was very glad that our room was on the 6th floor because when we finally turned in, it was absolutely silent and we got a great nights sleep. If you had a garden room you had better be a party animal but if you were - what a fantastic place to have a room! From your terrace you could sit in your own private area at one of the hottest lobby scenes in Miami Beach.

The concierge was superb - she organised an airport car for us and was just really helpful and fabulous.

It was just the most comfortable and pleasant place to stay - everything was good - we all felt we could easily have stayed a week and just had a wonderful time. Hopefully one day in the future we will do just that!

“Lovvvvved the Sagamore!!!!”

Sagamore Miami Beach

My girlfriends(ages 23-25)and I stayed @ the Sagamore for 5nights in June. Since we are college graduates and grad students we chose to come in June b/c the summer rates are more reasonable. We absolutely loved this hotel!!! The white colors and art deco decor were really beautiful. The lobby and hallway look like somewhat of an art gallery. The room was spacious and the kitchen came in very handy. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Eventhough we were four girls on somewhat of a budget we found that the staff could not have been nicer or more accomodating towards us. The concierge was great and got us on all the guests lists to the hottest places. The best thing about this hotel is their restaurant the Social Miami. On weekends it's apparently the place to be and the party spills over by the pool and cabbana area. What a great scene that was!!
Overall:
pros: the decor, atmosphere, intimate/small hotel feel, friendly staff, great plasma tv in the outdoor cabbanas, ocation, location, location!!,Social Miami, and the prices,
Cons: maids speak no English but thats where the Spanish small dictionary comes in handy.
Well tried to post some pics in and around the hotel to get overall feel. The best part - this hotel looks just as amazing and exactly the same in person and in real pics as it does on their hotel website.

“JUST PERFECT! A BOUTIQUE HIP HOTEL THAT LOVES FAMILIES!”

Sagamore Miami Beach

We cannot fault this hotel. It was perfect in everyway possible.

We are a family of 4 with two boys aged 10 and 6 years old and used the Sagamore as our first stop hotel after flying into Miami from London.

We arrived at the hotel at around 8pm and were blown away by the interior design of this place.

The girl on the check-in desk was over-whelmingly nice (almost like a new best friend!). As we checked in, she told us everything we should do during our vacation and after 15 minutes of great chat, she gave us the key to our room, saying that we had been upgraded to the Penthouse!

The conceirge took our bags up to the Penthouse and he was so jolly and friendly, and showed us around the suite and made sure we knew how everything worked before leaving us.

Well, the suite was outstanding! Unlike any other hotel room I have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in an awful lot of hip hotels around the world). The suite was huge, with a view that was almost too good to be real. I have to say that this felt more like a home than a hotel suite and the appliances and facilities within were incredible.

We decided to go find somewhere to eat. I hear the Sagamore now has a world famous chef and the food is suppose to be amazing but with jetlag and two boys, it was more than we could face. We ended up walking down Collins and grabbing a quick bite instead.

Everything is in walking distance including Ocean Drive (10 mins walk either by Collins or along the pavement at the back of the beach/hotels). But the wonderful thing about this stunning hotel is that it is such a peaceful sanctuary (none of that 5am party people noise!).

The pool area is tranquil yet kids swam in the pool and everyday a magazine shoot is set up in some part of the hotel which makes people watching so much fun!

The Sagamore is perfect. Gorgeous staff, a stunning location and sophisticated hip and happening clients (Roger Sanchez was there..!). We will most certainly be back next year.

Only things I can suggest is remember your filter coffee as they charge you for it and for the best rates watch their website. If you have kids, just book a room for 2 adults (leave the kids box empty) as they have a glitch in their on-line booking and the hotel told me to do this.

“Not as good as it should be for the price”

Sagamore Miami Beach

Mar 20, 2006

We stayed at the Sagamore for a weekend in late March. Unfortunately for us, it was the peak of the Spring Break season so the rates were absurdly high ($690 per night for an ocean view room). We decided to splurge on the hotel room because it was our anniversary. We were pleased to discover at check-in that we had been upgraded to a bungalow instead of the ocean front room we had reserved.

The bungalow was very nice but had a few shortcomings. For example, the magnetic key entry system failed a couple of times--either locking us out of our room altogether or leaving our room unlocked while we were at the pool (even though we double-checked the door to make sure it locked as we exited). The carpeting in the bedroom area had numerous stains and the furniture seemed a bit worn. The towels in the bathroom were a bit grayish instead of bright white. We had one remote control to use for both of the televisions (bedroom upstairs and living area downstairs).

I'm sure it's hard for them to keep up the quality of the room furnishings given the number of college students and young professionals who come to South Beach to party. But at nearly $700 per night everything should be pristine. The rest of the property is beautiful--lobby, pool area, veranda etc. are gorgeous.

We had a fabulous meal at Vic's in the Hotel Victor--pricey but worth it.

We had been to South Beach before but not during Spring Break. Heed the advice of other reviewers: if you are looking to relax then SoBe is not the place for travel during the month of March. Just too many loud, drunk college students to make for an enjoyable stay.

“Nice, but far from perfect”

Sagamore Miami Beach

Coming from New York with a baby, we had high expectations for a "luxury" hotel. The staff was friendly overall, but front desk people were a little clueless at times. They tried to overcharge us twice -- once at check in and once at check out (we had to bring documentation of our reservation with the rates). Pool is excellent and access to beach is nice. The hotel is right next to Lincoln Road where plenty of food and shopping can be found.
