“Very good value and interesting niche-hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

This is a place for those who are interested in art and a more relaxed hotel. You live next door to all the bars and clubs of south beach, but stepping into this hotel, the owners are not too keen to have a Hakkasan or a Nobu combined with a fancy bar in order to protect their collection of modenr art. We have paid less than USD 300 off-season and got upgraded to a penthouse suite - the best value ever in SB. Good service and the food is very good, but you are a bit lonely at this hotels food-outlets. The hotel is a bit used, but so are the other trendy hotels in the are

Gudleiy,

Thanks for taking a moment to share your review of Sagamore. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time here. Sagamore is a little more quiet than some of the surrounding properties, but many times that adds to our appeal.

It is however the perfect place to begin the night with a drink or an appetizer at our pool bar as we are surrounded by many of the best bars, clubs, and restaurants that South Beach has to offer. Our spacious suites make even a long stay here a comfortable one and there is no better spot to spend the day than our pool or beachfront in our lounge chairs.

We greatly appreciate all your feedback and we look forward to your next visit to Sagamore!

Best Regards,
James D'Agostino

The hotel is centrally located, convenient, but not too loud. The staff is really friendly, especially Rudy at the reception, 5-star service! The staff really go out of their way to assist you. Great vibe, chic but not snobby.

Rooms are Getting shabby as are Interior hallways. So so service. Cleaning crew especially, were oblivious to our leaving in the middle of the day. They wanted to clean at their convenience. Even though a DJ party next door (which no one warned us about) made the pool a nightmare they still charged for beach chairs.

There are so many hotels in Miami beach I would keep looking if I were you. The location is awesome, but the Ritz Carlton is right next door.

Kimgavin,

Thanks for your review after your stay here at Sagamore. We apologize as it is obvious that your stay was not up to par and that you may have had a few issues here that effected your overall experience.

We apologize if your room received service late in the day as we always do our best to try to get all the service done as early as possible. We also apologize about the music as there can be several special events going on at nearby hotels with loud music that are out of our control.

I would like the opportunity to speak with you directly about your stay. Please contact me at your convienence to discuss. I have provided my information below. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you directly. Thank you again for choosing Sagamore.

The older guy with glasses works at the pool is extremely rude to everyone, and complains that no one tips him (I wonder why!). it ruins the entire experience for us. The breakfast selection is very limited, not recommended. The location is great.

If you are looking for a place that will make your holiday comfortable and easy access anyway in south Miami beach. Sagamore is where you should book, the room are like even and the break fast buffet just want you need to start a day.

One the wining point of this hotel is the reception staff and front door , always read to assist and guide.

I love it ,easy access to the beach from the back and from the front the blig blig short walk to ocean drive. Better walk from the back .

Enjoy .....

Room Tip: Book your self in this place, you will not regret.

Got off a 10 hour flight from London and was devastated to arrive here, the website is the work of a genius and must have been done using photos from when it was refurbished 7 years ago, rooms on street side so noisy it was literally impossible to sleep, rooms dated ,dirty &dark, the carpet in the corridors is made out of some sort of plastic , so revolting I tried to check out an hour after arriving but my children had fallen asleep so left at 6 am and headed next door to the Delano which was exceptional - i'll review that later !!! The only good thing was they took my complaint seriously and let me off any early check out penalty-!!!

This is an upmarket hotel in a fantastic location - right on the beach, half a block from Lincoln Road Mall shops and restaurants and 5 - 10 minutes walk from Ocean Drive. The decor is cool and white, which is stylish, but not cosy.

The rooms are well equipped and big. We had booked a suite, expecting this to have a view and or balcony. The suite itself was great - particularly liked the big L-shaped sofa and the kitchenette. The bedroom and bathroom were also fine, with a comfortable bed. A coffee machine was also a nice touch. The fridge was broken, however.

The downside was that what was not mentioned (booked via Expedia) was that what Americans call a 'Limited View' in this hotel actually means a wall of a (much taller) hotel next door being refurbished about 6 feet away from your windows. If you stood on the sofa and really craned your neck then you could catch a glimpse of the ocean, but in a high-priced beachside property I expected better.

Second gripe was that on checking in you are offered the option of paying a daily fee for 'Breakfast, Wireless and beach chairs' at just under 20 dollars per person. If you wanted breakfast, wireless and beach chairs every day, this would not be bad, but only wanting wireless I felt ripped off. The hotels wireless for one device per day was 11 dollars by itself.

Valet parking is also expensive, off site but presumably in an uncovered lot, judging by the appearance of the car when returned

Last negative observation was that only the beach bar appeared to be open, none of the other bars. Not a huge obstacle, as the location means you are in the thick of things in South Beach.

Now the positives: Having negotiated an upgrade rate to one of the bungalows, we were able to spend our last three nights in one of the upper tier bungalows. Still no real beach view, but two balconies overlooking the outdoor area between the pool and the main hotel. Excellent accommodation indeed. A very relaxing stay, in spite of the endless pumped music from the neighbouring hotels.

Many other reviewers have noted the service levels at this hotel, and I would totally agree. The staff are without fail cheerful, courteous, attentive and helpful - some of the best service of this visit to Florida. In particular, when listening and responding to my complaints about the room/fridge/wireless etc, Linford on the front desk was outstanding - a real professional job of understanding the issues and reaching acceptable agreement on the outcomes.

There was a wide mix of clientele at the hotel, from families with (very) young children, through young adults, some business people, couples and some older clients too. All seemed relaxed and happy.

So, some positives and some negatives, although in general I would say this is a good hotel, although some of the hotels nearby would potentially be livelier/cosier and possibly better value for money.

Room Tip: Be aware that many of the rooms, even the suites, do not have a view
