“Bogart at His Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

Where do I start..... GiGi at the front desk was totally amazing.... Her personality was contagious. We got there like 11am... Check in was at 4pm.... Gigi gave us a cabana for free while our room was getting ready. We got some Cuban sandwiches across the street at a little cafe next to the 7-Eleven and went straight to the pool and just relaxed after coming from a 7 day cruise... The Bogart restaurant is beautiful and meeting Henny the bartender was a true delight. He makes great drinks and service with a smile. I'm sorry I don't rememberthe security guards name, but he was extremely informative when it came to choosing a restaurant. He recommended Sazon Restaurant. Sazon is located on 74 St. The food is great and offers great Cuban selections. The beach is like 100 ft from the pool. It was paradise. No rah rah like South Beach. I reommend this hotel very highly.... We definitely will be back real soon. Thank You Casablanca

Hi, stayed in a private condo at this hotel. This specific condo had a great terrace towards the ocean which was the best with this room. Most room do not have a balcony. Ok but not more. The hotel lies directly on the loooong lovely beach. Pool totally ok, boring area around the hotel, no Starbucks around. Valet parking worked ok, just a little waiting time.

In fact I liked the hotel. The room was clean, daily cleaning. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I did not expect that at this budget price will get high comfort.
Direct access to the ocean. Kitchen in the room, I could buy foods in Greenswall two blocks north and prepare dinner.

My stay at this hotel was during the memorial weekend (May 23- 26th). On arrival I was unsure of what to think about this hotel. My first impression when entering this hotel would be a good stay because the lobby was nicely designed and clean( i was wrong). After entering my hotel room my attitude changed. On entry we were greeted by roaches and other insects. The bed sheets were stained with dirt, and still had stains even after advising management to change them. The continental breakfast sucked, I pretty much went to ihop for breakfast everyday instead. The vallet parkers were pleasant and sure to greet everyone on their way in but other than that I would say that they had bad customer service. The people who were staying in the room beside us got kicked out of the hotel because their room door got kicked in by what had seemed to be robbers. The hotel refused to check the cameras or perform a proper investigation. This made my husband and I feel uncomfortable and unsafe. By the third day I had enough and was scared. We got this hotel stay for a deal, but saving money doesn't mean anything if you don't feel comfortable or SAFE. So we checked out and went to the deuville hotel a couple streets up. After staying at the Casa Blanka my expectations may have been lowered but my stay at the deuville was GREAT.

Room Tip: go to a different hotel

I stayed with a firend for 4nts and my stay was very pleasant. The hotel lobby was very beautiul but the rooms were a bit old fashion but it was not at all bad. The pool side was very nice, the set up with lounge chairs round the pool was nice. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Breakfast was continental but very poor not good value for money even when i reuested a full breakfaast meal to be cooked.

During the night the noise from other rooms was a great disturbance to other guests in their rooms.

The location of the hotel is quite good cos its easy acess to bus that takes you into downtown

We should preface our review by mentioning that we have been fortunate to travel all over the world and have stayed in all kinds of accomodations from .5 star hostels to 5 star hotels so we have a fair bit of experience with what hotels can and do (or don't) provide for their guests, based on their star rating, and this hotel is extremely substandard in terms of value for the dollar.
Here are a few things for you to be aware of.

1) This hotel DID NOT HONOUR the fact that we were supposed to get a complimentary continental breakfast for 2 with our room booking. We were absolutely astonished when we checked in and when we asked about where the breakfast was served, we were told that breakfast wasn't included with our room??? The included continental breakfast was one of the reasons why we had booked the hotel. We even showed the front desk clerk our booking on our laptop which indicated that the complimentary breakfast was included and after "checking the hotel computer" again, he continued to insist that breakfast was not included. And, when we asked to talk to the manager about this, he called her, had a brief conversation with her on the phone, and then told us that she wasn't going to come out to meet us because the breakfast simply wasn't included. WOW!!! So, for this reason alone, steer well clear of this place. What you think you're getting and paying for just may not materialize. We have never, ever encountered this kind of problem before and never have we had this kind of experience with hotel management. We're not hard to please. We just want what we've been promised and have paid for and this hotel didn't think they had an obligation to provide that. Again, astonishing.

2. This hotel is also called or known as "The New Casablanca Hotel" in Miami Beach. Don't be fooled by the moniker. There's nothing "new" about it.

3. As for our hotel room, there were a number of cleanliness and repair issues. The window for our "city-view" room (which consisted of a view of the 7-11 across very busy Collins Ave.) was absolutely filthy. It was completely coated in dirt. Not sure when the last time they did a window clean was but our extremely limited view was completely obscured by the filth on the entire window. We didn't pay for or expect a great view. That wasn't important for us. But, we didn't expect the window to be that dirty. A nice sunny day outside looked like a cloudy grey day because of the layer of dirt. (No exaggeration). The carpets weren't clean and the kitchen floor was pretty badly stained. In the first few hours after we arrived, our smoke detector kept going off, indicating perhaps a low battery? And our iron didn't work. (Oh, also to note, the beds are pretty hard. Not comfortable at all.)

4. We called front desk about the repair issues. Something else to note, this is a "Spanish-speaking hotel" and most of the support staff we came into contact with had either quite limited or extremely limited English speaking ability. The front desk and restaurant staff were the exceptions to this. No problem communicating with them. There were able to tell us in very fluent English "No Breakfast Included!" (but I digress). The support staff that we had to deal with (the valet parkers, the maid, and the repair man) all did their best to do a good job for us and the issue with the iron and smoke detector were taken care of in a timely manner. Just be prepared though to use a fair bit of sign language and charades to communicate (as neither my wife or I speak any Spanish.)

5. And as for the valet parking, the daily parking fee for a car is $17. (This is in addition to your room rate.) The valet parking area can get extremely congested (we were constantly worried about our rental car getting scratched / dented / damaged) and the wait can be pretty long to get your car, almost any time during the day. At night, they park cars on every square inch of the garage and the driveway in front. So, trying to get your car, especially early in the morning is insane as they have to move many other cars just to get yours out. At times, there was only one valet on duty and he had to both park cars (under the hotel in a parking garage) and retrieve them, causing extremely long delays for those parking and waiting for cars. At times, the line of cars waiting to be parked would spill out onto Collins Ave into oncoming traffic.

6. This hotel also charges a "resort fee" of $10 day (which is also in addtion to your room rate.) This "resort fee" is to allow you the use of the pool and small fitness room. This place can hardly be construed as a "resort." It's a 2 star hotel with a pool that just happens to be located along Miami Beach. You access the beach by walking out of a locked security gate behind the pool and then walking along a short boardwalk through some bushes until you reach the beach area. You'll get a key when you check in that will allow you to get back in that locked gate after spending time at the beach. There is a security guard on duty in the pool area and 4 out of the 7 days we were at the hotel, the security guard was dealing with issues in and around the pool. Just something else for you to note.

So, there are many options available for accomodation in Miami Beach. Check them out because you can get much better value for the dollar than a stay at The New Casablanca Hotel. It's a lower-end / budget hotel, which we were completely aware of and wanted, going in, but dollar for dollar, this hotel is not good value AT ALL! Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

The hotel offers fairly comfortable apartment accommodation with reasonable self-catering facilities. A little bit away from the main tourist areas of Miami but nevertheless right by the Ocean. Restaurant was fine. Lovely warm pool even in February

Room Tip: Sea view high floor at back so quiet.
