“Authentic Italian cuisine for a change”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

Our last night in SB, and we wish we had discovered this off the beaten path place earlier! Everyone in the place was speaking Italian, which was reassuring. The calamari salad was the best I have had outside of Italy, made obviously from a very fresh catch. The home-made pasta was incredible, and the tiramisu was incredible! Don't miss this undiscovered gem!

“Nice real italian food just outside a tourist trap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Nice small restaurant with real respect for food. Not ready made microvawed stuff here so a little bit of wait (unusual and probably not well perceived in Miami) but worth it as all is cooked on demand. Just off the main tourist trap (Espanola street) with their fake italian cooking. So definitely recommended. Try the Nutella based Tiramisu

“Delicious Italian in South Beach.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012 via mobile

On our recent visit to South Beach we were debating between 2 Italian restaurants for dinner and definitely made the right choice with Amami. The first clue was the fact that nearly all the patrons were actually speaking Italian and were not all tourists. The service was friendly, the owner was on site and made efforts to make us feel welcome and the food and wine were outstanding. The rave reviews of Amami are warranted.

“Proper Italian style @ Miami beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012 via mobile

Very good food in Miami and extremely nice Italian atmosphere, feeling like "you are coming back home where mum is taking care of everything for you".
The restaurant is not on the main road which make the surrounding less crazily busy and much more enjoyable.
The waitress, the owner's wife, is a very lovely lady extremely helpful when it comes to decide what to order (she spends time explaining you the menu and recommending you what's best depending on what you are looking for).
We had mussels and clams as a starter and they were very good; we then had the catch of the day served "al cartoccio" (oven cooked with tomato and cappers) with vegetables. Everything was delicious.
The owner is great as he can do a thousand things together, opening and serving your wine while talking to another table while entertaining new customer looking for table - the proper italian multitasking "oste"
Reasonable price for good italian recipes

“Great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Mateo, the owner, and his wife run a warm, welcoming restaurant that serves delicious food at reasonable prices. A much better alternative to the chains and big restaurants on Lincoln Road. We had a great meal and a great time!
