Honestly, some of the best fried chicken I have ever had, and I use to live in Atlanta, GA. I love fried chicken, and Yardbird soaks their in a brine and has rock salt or sea salt on it when it is served, but it is not salty. It is moist and delicious with a thin, crispy skin. You get half a chicken, which is excellent for sharing. On the menu is fried chicken and waffles with watermelon, which I would try next time instead of the plain fried chicken, but it was good regardless. We also had the mac and cheese, which was creamy and cheesy with a toasted, crusty top. I loved the butter beans, which I think had an Italian, garlic taste, but my parents did not love them. We also had the mash, which I was not a fan of because of the celery root that made it had a perfume taste. Lastly, we tried the ribs, which were definitely meaty and a huge portion (also to share as that is how the restaurant/menu is set-up), but I did not think they had a great taste. They were actually sort of bland. In my opinion, the food was very good, but from what we had the fried chicken and mac and cheese were top. I would definitely go back to try their deviled eggs, biscuits, waffles, and a few other items like shrimp and grits and the daily catch. They also have a duck dish that sounds super tasty.
The service was prompt but annoying. I understand what the menu means about sharing plates and the portions. I do not need a server to explain that concept to me, and our server would not stop. She also needed to explain everything we ordered when the menu is rather explicit. She was definitely in a "teaching" mood, which I do not need unless I ask a question.
I also think the cocktail menu could be a bit more inventive, but the blackberry, bourbon lemonade cocktail was tasty. I have seen better cocktail menus though in Atlanta, DC, Honolulu.
It is a bit pricey, but we had two entree and three sides for three adults, and it was a bit too much. We took leftovers home, so you do get a lot for your money.
Overall, I think this is a very good restaurant with tasty food in a cool part of Miami. The view is not particularly scenic, but I love Miami Beach near Lincoln Road and Alton Ave. Lots of shops and places to check out. I would certainly go back and recommend others to check it out, especially the fried chicken! I am sure it is the best in South Florida!
