My husband and I stayed at the Doubletree Coconut Grove for two nights to attend a wedding in Miami. The location is very good and convenient to most Miami hot spots. The Coconut Grove area seems to be a dying area however and shops were closed and two restaurants indicated they were moving as business had been down. Across the street from the hotel is a grocery store which has everything you can imagine in the way of a gourmet grocery--it was fantastic. There were fresh veggies, pastries, wines and even pre made sandwiches and meals which looked fabulous.

Most rooms at the hotel have a balcony and ours faced the bay but the balcony contained huge obstructions about 3 feet high. Beware of them. Only some rooms contain the balcony obstructions. On the balcony (we couldn't sit out there because if we were seated we would face the concrete wall obstruction) there was a nice breeze and the view was fabulous had it not been for the concrete obstructions.

The rooms definitnely need updating but were comfortable. The bathroom is small and the shower head flows but a trickle. There is another sink in the bedroom portion of the room but no mirron above it!

There is only one ice machine in the lobby area. There is valet parking only at $20 per day which is pricey if you are going to be going in and out and tipping the staff. Breakfast buffet was $15.95 per person and included coffee or juice--I don't know where the other reader got the $40 figure. There are other braekfast items offered for an average of $10.

Last but not least there was a huge "palmetto" bug (roach) in my room on the last evening before we checked out. I reported it and was told sorry but there was no other accommodation suggested. Because we were checking out, I did not pursue the issue.

All in all, if you are looking for an average type hotel which is priced average, this is the place. The staff were pleasant and the hotel appeared clean, but the roach was another story.

We stayed at the Doubletree Coconut Grove for one night before a cruise. The hotel was located directly across the street from a marina and had nice views of the water. We were put in a suite which had plenty of room and nice views.

It was a few blocks walk to Coco Walk which had plenty of restaraunt choices. Also, there was a supermarket across the street.

Overall this was a good hotel for a short stay.

The hotel was nice and clean, but needs updating. There is only one ice machine in the lobby, and none anywhere else. The valet parking gets expensivef you tip everytime you need your car.It is also too far from the port of miami if you are going on a cruise. And $40.00 for a buffett breakfast that is a comp at every oyher hotel i have stayed in was way out of line,I even had to pay for morning coffee!!

This hotel has amazing views of the harbor and the rooms get a nice cross breeze. The service was excellent and the employees were very helpful. It’s a convenient location within easy walking distance of downtown Coconut Point and it’s just across the street from Scotty’s Landing a fun place to eat and drink. Our room was spacious and the room service fast and tasty. Valet parking is required.

We stayed at the Doubletree one night pre-cruise in February. Everyone seems to gravitate to the Port Area when they are crusing out of Miami but we wanted to try the Coconut Grove as we had read many nice reviews of this area.

Cab from the airport was approx $30 - the hotel's website states it's 7 miles from the airport - but I'm not sure our driver took the most direct route...

We arrived at the hotel about 12:30 and there were no rooms available so we stepped outside to the pool bar and had a drink and relaxed in the sun. The pool are was large and nice - the water itself felt pretty cold to the touch!

We were able to check in within 45 minutes. We received a nice corner room on the 7th floor. Walked into a large area where there was a closet and also a large vanity area with coffee maker and sink. The coffeemaker/coffee was by Wolfgang Puck -the coffee was actually drinkable!

The bedroom area was a little on the small side but very clean and nice. The bed was so comfortable and had nice linens and a duvet. Off the bedroom was a good sized balcony with table and 2 chairs.

The bathroom was large and very clean. It also featured a huge tub - the longest I think I have ever seen! Bath amenities are by Neutrogena.

We did not have dinner at the hotel but enjoyed a very good breakfast for $10 pp. The eggs came out steaming! They also have a breakfast buffet available

We were at the port of Miami (by cab) in about 20 minutes time. The bell /valet staff were very friendly.

The Coconut Grove area is very nice. We walked to Cocowalk and the Shops at Mayfair. Lots of shops and artwork. The Biscayne Bay is on the other side of street and we walked back through all the marinas, etc., and had a fantastic dinner at Monty's Raw Bar.

I would definitely recommend this hotel
