Mixed feelings. We paid over $300 for a partial ocean view on New Years weekend. The room was small and quite average. The little balcony and view wasn't bad. I liked that., but there was a cigarrette butt on the balcony. Many don't mind such a thing...but for over $300 per night, I do not want to see any cigarette butts. That is an extreme turn-off to me. The room was adjoining. I'm not sure why hotels have adjoining rooms. I could hear everything that was going on in the other room. That was also a turn-off...however, we were lucky that the neighbors were quiet enough. It could have been really bad if they were loud. The building was nostalgic with 60's art deco decor. It was relatively pleasant grounds and a romantic beach location. The staff was really nice, that helped. I would go back if I were offered a much better price, a NON-adjoining room....and NO cigarette butts.

Got our room off Priceline and was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews. However we were very happy with our Room and would go back.

Best part of the hotel is it's location. Right on the beach, and ocean drive. Very nice. Close to everything.

The room was overall clean, there were some stains on the carpet, but nothing bad.

Bed was very comfortable and sheets and pillows were clean.

Furniture looked a little run down, but was still nice. Room just seemed older and not renovated, but was still nice.

Bathroom was clean and spacious, toilet did run at random times, but with bathroom door shut was not a nuisance.

Front Desk Staff didn't seem overly helpful or friendly, however the Valet and Cleaning staff were both very helpful and friendly.

There is a 20.00 resort fee that is not included with your priceline fee.

Pool was gorgeous but we didnt use it or any of the amenities.

Overall would stay here again and very happy with our stay.

“Great location, weathered rooms”

This art deco style hotel is ideally located in SoBe, very close to the Lincoln Rd Mall which is full of great shops and cafes and also adjacent to Ocean Drive and all it's al fresco restaurants and lovely boardwalk and beach. It is not right on the "strip" which makes it possible to actually sleep! That being said, the room soundproofing is non-existent so if people are talking in the hallway or by the elevators, you'll hear it.
We booked on Priceline and were upgraded to a suite which had a sofabed and separate bedroom with a comfortable king bed. The room was pretty decent except the carpet was stained and the furniture was a bit battered. The windows were filthy.
The downstairs and upstairs pool areas were small but nice and relaxing. The hotel provieds guests chaise lounges to use on the beach.
The service was alright, not overly friendly but not bad. Housekeeping never cleaned our room the first day, strangely. One thing that I did not like was that the hotel charged a $19 "resort fee". It was not a huge deal, especially given the chaise lounges and free wireless internet for your latop in the room, but I don't like suprise charges like that. They should figure it into their rates another way in my opinion. Also, don't park your car here unless $40 a day sounds reasonable for parking to you.
Over all I would recommend the hotel for it's location and would consider a stay here again.

Great Location, Nice Pool area, Great Entrance, Rooms are nice....Valet sucks 40.00 a night...Once I found out the rate I tried to get my car out of the valet and was told i owed 20.00 after having the car in the vale for only 2 hours. Spoke to the front desk and they were of no help. Really seemed not to care, I guess the valet company is separate from the hotel. Overall there just wasn't a feeling that you are welcomed. I've stayed at other Luxury hotels in S Beach and the overall experience was amazing. This one isn't. If you've won this on Hotwire or Priceline don't fret you've got a great buy considering the prices of the other beach front properties on South Beach. However, it's just not a 4 star hotel. Need some help in regards to Customer Satisfaction.

“Not horrible ... but NOT 4-star”

My boyfriend and I were excited at scoring a 4-star hotel on Priceline for $120. But the star rating must be pretty loose because the Royal Palm is definitely NOT a 4-star hotel. Luckily, we weren't lazy enough to pay the $30+ valet charge and parked in a garage for $16 around the corner. The bathroom was a little moldy and outdated but OK. But the beds should have comforters ... even in Miami. A thin cotton blanket and sheet just doesn't cut it for me. When I brought this up to the front desk (I thought it was a mistake), she looked like she could've cared less and said she'd mention it to housekeeping. Nothing was done. The restaurant bartender/waiter was super friendly and accommodating, but the menu was boring and food less than underwhelming. The lobby staff made no effort to help us with our bags. I, like other reviewers, was surprised by the $19 "resort fee." Give me a break.
