“A very nice stay in a very nice Art Deco Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

A very nice stay in a very nice hotel. Our stay was even better than expected because we were given an upgrade to a Superior Oceanfront room. Thanks to the Reservation team!
On the positive side, the hotel has a good size meaning that it is not too big and has a good balance between the number of guests and the facilities that guests would like to use. This means that there were always enough sun beds at the pool and at the (very clean) beach, enough tables available for breakfast and no queuing in front of the machines in the fitness room. Great. Very nice and clean pool area with many palm trees. Music is played at the pool area, luckily not too loud. Some people might like that, some less (like me). We had a very nice room with a spectacular view on the 8th floor. You can't open the window but the good thing about this is the fact that the windows are pretty sound proof which is great compared to soooo many other US hotels. Very effective air conditioning which is remarkably quiet. Great bed, first class linen and towels and enough space in the bathroom. Separate but tiny toilet. Very good food in the "Essentia" restaurant. Very good breakfast incl. fresh omelets and waffles also for those who have breakfast included in the their booking. So try to find an offer which includes breakfast, it is definitely worth it.
Very friendly personal all over the hotel. A special thanks to Katja at the costumer relations desk who gave us tons of good hints about things to do and restaurants (and who speaks German as a native language).
On the bit negative side, there is not much storage room for clothes, shoes etc. If you are staying at The Palms for more than a week (as we did) this is a bit challenging. There are only very view restaurants nearby but Lincoln Road is in a walkable distance of around 20-25 minutes using the very scenic boardwalk along the beach. A Taxi to Lincoln Road Mall is around 7-10 $. There are public bikes to rent (very easy by credit card) only one block away (you can use them at the boardwalk) and several buses to use too. At the moment, there are several construction sides near the hotel, especially in the north of the hotel. However it looks like most of them are coming to an end, some in the next weeks, some others might take another few months. That creates some (in my mind) bearable noise, especially at the pool area. At the beach, this is close to an non-issue. And one should be aware that most of the Miami (South) Beach area is in the air corridor to Miami Intl. Airport...
Overall "The Palms" is a great place to be which I can really recommend, especially in a few months from now when the construction works are over.

Room Tip: As long as the construction works are going on I would recommend a room facing south.

Green Features: Excellent organic food at the "Essentia" Restaurant.

A great hotel with friendly staff, great pool facilities and beach. As it was our honeymoon we were gifted with a bottle of champagne on ice and a note wishing us all the best which we thought was a lovely gesture. A 30 minute walk away from Ocean Drive and you can walk down the beach or the beautiful man made walk way before the beach. We did both and both were enjoyable walks. We found the menu of the restaurant quite pricey but you aren't too far away from eating facilities as you come out of the main entrance and turn left there's a subway and a great supermarket (which also sells very reasonably priced alcohol for your room) a 5 minute walk away. We had a great city view of Miami and our stay in this hotel will be remembered for a life time.

This is a great hotel. We stayed in 601, facing street. The walls were thin so you could hear a lot of noise. Rooms are small but very clean. Love the robes and slippers. Great happy hour specials 4-7 mon-thurs, 50% off menu. Beach is awesome! Everyone that works there is pretty friendly. $35/day for parking. We loved the tiki bar. There are less expensive hotels to stay at, but if you are looking for great beach time in Miami, the price is worth it! Would stay here again.

I don't know why anyone would give this superb hotel any poor reviews at all .. It is a classy colonial hotel style design with lovely polite staff. The bars are great and remember it's how you treat people that you get the response you deserve! Great breakfast and an easy 30 min stroll to the start of Ocean Drive / South Beach. try the restaurants on Espanola Way, Try The Villa restaurant once Versace house on Ocean drive for that special last night and finish off 11pm..ish popping into Mangos Bar and watch the Latin dancing ...The Cleverlander Outside pool bar and its sports bar is a little noisey but worth a beer ... All really nice and welcoming. Try all the bars that take your fancy... Just ask to have a drink so you won't feel obliged to view any menu or spend the night there. All very safe like anywhere ... Just be aware of your surroundings. All shopping 2 streets back 5 mins from Ocean drive. Weekends obviously busier than weekdays with fancy cars galore parked up and don't forget for a peachfull sleep afterwards, a $9 taxi ride will take you back in 5mins to The Palms Hotel . What an holiday we had .. and we are retired in our mid 6Os

Room Tip: We stayed on 9th floor with sea view over-looking the pool room 902.. No balcony so height not a pro...

Green Features: The Hotel has an environmental policy but it's really not an issue for most people. We did not see any unnecessary wastage anywhere.

We just stayed at The Palms Hotel & Spa for a short weekend getaway. The trip included our two young kids.

The hotel is located about a mile north of the busiest part of Miami Beach/South Beach. However, this makes it a really nice quiet place without the crazy crowds in the evenings. The beach is beautiful- there are two semi-sheltered coves to play in and The Palms always had extra toys for the kids- buckets, shovels, etc. The pool is also great- big, warm (especially in the afternoons) & nicely arranged. The hotel staff is courteous, responsive, and very helpful. We had reserved an oceanfront room and since this was a special occasion as well, requested one on a higher floor. They were able to accommodate our request & we had a spectacular view of the property & beach/ocean. Amazing sunrises!!

The rooms are a bit on the small side, but if you pack wisely, you'll be fine. They are clean, updated, & the amenities are great. The beds are comfortable. My only concern with the rooms was that the walls are a bit thin and it's easy to hear conversations/TVs from the neighbors. This wasn't much of a problem since you're not in the room a lot anyway.

The public areas in the hotel are really nice & relaxing- lots of ceiling fans, palms, & quiet areas to sit back.

The front desk staff was responsive, courteous & helpful.

There aren't too many restaurants within walking distance, but enough for a short trip. The main South Beach area is a short walk (15-20 minutes) or taxi cab away.

We dined at Essensia once and the food was wonderful as was the service. Our only concern with the restaurant was that they had a delayed response to our email request for a reservation. However, when this was addressed, they responded promptly & arranged a great dinner for us.

Because the hotel has a great property & is located right on the beach, beware that many times there are weddings/functions going on. But, it's fun to watch and for the most part, they don't interfere with any of the hotel's amenities.

We would definitely return for a future stay!

Room Tip: Ask for an oceanfront room, higher floor if available.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Currently staying at the Palms. There are numerous problems with our stay.
The door to our room does not work. Every time we enter we have to wait for an employee to open it. We are not able to access the room for which we have paid a significant amount.

The elevators to not work. They broke for the afternoon and then sent us to the wrong floor this evening.

We returned home late on a Thursday to a smell of garbage.

I do not recommend this hotel for these reasons. Do not stay here.

This hotel only gets one star due to the manager of the pool bar, Jeff, who was accommodating, friendly, and provided excellent service for our after-hours party.

I would give the hotel zero stars if I could.

Dear Mrs. Mary M,
I regret to hear about the very atypical inconveniences you experienced during your recent stay. We feel every guest should depart the Palms with an overall sense of satisfaction, enjoyment and general feeling that their stay and expectations were exceeded in every way possible and that the value they received was of great significance to warrant their loyalty and repeat business. I sincerely apologize this was not your experience. I am glad to read that Jeff, our Pool & Beach Manager, provided excellent service and was friendly and accommodating. I would love the opportunity to speak with you further about the details of your stay, if you would please contact me at alma@thepalmshotel.com

I really love this place. It's a bit of a walk to the main south beach area. However, the hotel is lovely , great staff , pool is great and they have a cute bar at the pool. I will definitely stay here again.
