When we walked into our room, the first thing we saw was a cockroach in the kitchenette. Next, we saw a dirty toilet with a dirty footprint on the seat; someone should tell the maid "Dolly" that putting a strip of paper that says "Sanitized" over the seat is not the same as actually cleaning it. The curtains were for decoration only, and they did not close enought to block the spotlight shining into the room. The door did not fit properly, so all of the elevator noise was quite audible. There was a piece of painted particleboard instead of a wall adjoining the neighboring room, so we heard all of the noise from next door, too. The ad for this hotel says the hotel was recently remodeled, but any changes appear to have been simply cosmetic, at best.
On the plus side, the receptionists were very nice. The closet in the room was a good size. The lobby is comfortable and plush, but this does not justify the price. The hotel is about 15 blocks north Ocean Ave and one block from the beach.
