Me and 3 of my girlfriends stayed at Chelsea from June 11-15, 2009. We rented a van and Chelsea suggested a public parking garage 2/3 blocks up. We did not move that car until we left to go back home on the 15th. Great advice! In fact, don't bring a car. Check-in was speedy and free of any problems. No lost reservations or anything like that.

We liked the room decor. Rooms are small, but we didn't care because we didn't spend much time in the rooms. The lighting is dim, but I think people are exaggerating a bit. We didn't have any issues with getting dressed because the lighting was horrible. Maybe if you spend too much time in the room, you'll have a lighting problem. Our room was located on the 1st floor at the very end of the hallway. We didn't hear any noise or walk down any creepy hallways like the other floors, so maybe ask for a 1st floor room. Again we weren't in the room long, and we slept in and went to bed late so I guessed we missed any noise. We were never awaken/disturbed by any noise.

We liked (and used) that Chelsea had small discount cards for different activities (parasailing, etc.). During happy hour, they served a free drink to guests. You had to choose from a limited selection, nevertheless, it was free. Everyday they gave us free beach towels to use which was great. Use the towel on the beach, and give them back the dirty towels, love it!

Hotel close to everything, but not on the busy street of Ocean Drive. We loved that we were only 2 blocks from Ocean, but still in the mix of things. Great pizza joint directly across the street. Within walking distance of Clubs SoBe Live, Mansion, & BED.

The only complaint is we found 2 bugs. 3 of the 4 of us were deathly afraid. We found 1 huge roach crawling about and 1 dead waterbug(?) in the shower. 1 of the girls got the first bug, but we made the receptionist guy come get the waterbug. It's disappointing when you come home from a long day longing to get in the shower and you step in the bathroom and see a nasty bug. Or you see a big bug crawling around and hoping it won't crawl into your luggage and clothes.

At the time we went, Chelsea was running a price special so we paid about $122 per person for 4 nights. We will be returning to South Beach at the end of July for a week. Chelsea isn't running any specials this time so we will be looking for other hotels, but we would stay at Chelsea again if we were staying for 4 nights or less.

I would recommend this hotel for young folks (21-35) who are in SoBe for pleasure, and young romantic couples on a budget.

The Chelsea hotel in south beach is a great hotel with an awesome staff. The staff are very friendly and helpful with anything needed. The room was great, comfy beds, and stocked with drinks and snacks, it was a bit dark in the room, but nicely decorated and very clean. Amazing location, with many clubs and bars within walking distance(Mansion, BED, Cameo). Close to the beach. Loved the happy hour every night. If you love staying up late and having fun, this is the place to stay.

stayed at hotel chelsea for a week in june '09 .booked an extra large king suite and was pleasently surprised at how adequate the room was. had read the reviews and was a bit wary about what to expect, but i absolutely loved my room! good decor, nice cosy bed, lighting not too bad at all, only downside was that i am a lite sleeper and was awoken several times a night due to other guests being very loud when they came in at all hours. my room was next to bar area and it didnt really bother me being so close. but my main complaint was people talking loudly outside my room at 4am and when i asked them to keep it down i was called a [--]!!however i still enjoyed the hotel and found the staff helpful, well mannerd, and polite. i would definately recomend this hotel as in great location to everything south beach has to offer. thanks to emanuel who was a great help to me whilst there(he had just started working at hotel and a nice guy) vanessa on reception and bar staff were all very nice. will definately go back but will book the king suite as it suited me for my week stay.

We were generally satisfied with the hotel, however service was poor. Location is great and the cost was reasonable. Our room was far away from the bar, so we weren't bothered by noise. Apart from the sparce lighting, the room was nice and not too small. We used the valet parking and were satisfied with the service even though it was expensive.

Yes, the rooms and hallways are dark. Really dark, so we packed our suitcases during the day, so the daylight could help us see what we were doing. Just open the blinds during the day and you'll be ok.

Our first encounter with the receptionists were not too positive. Firstly our receptionist worked veeeeeery slowly, it took forever to check in. Then I had to ask them to change the linens on my bed due to water spillage from the window (I guess from the window), the bed was soaking wet. It took over an hour from my first request (I had to ask them a second time before they did something) before the sheets were changed. Since it was close to midnight and we'd traveled from Europe and needed to sleep, we were very dissatisfied with this service. Service after the first day was ok enough, but not impressive.

We booked through hotels.com, and were not charged the "resort fee" of 10-15 dollars per night, which we were very happy about. Nice enough hotel, but not worthy a "resort fee".

OK, I never write reviews when I travel so here we go. When you read that the hotel is DARK...every visitor is telling the truth. DO NOT skip over this part, we have no reason to lie. I read it before I booked the hotel thinking it could not be that bad and when I arrived all I could do was laugh and make fun of it. It sits 2 streets over from Ocean Blvd. (where everything is) easy to walk to...has a nice bar(we did not partake too busy drinking on Ocean Blvd)...the desk attendant was very nice, he answered all questions, called cabs when needed, held our luggage and sent extra towels...the rooms have some sort of decor (I dont know what to call it, but they are trying to do something, maybe mixing decors)...I did love the bathroom it was slated throughout with 1/2 glass coverage for the shower...flatscreen t.v...BUT I could not really see in my room it was soooooooooo dark from the curtains to the furniture to the walls even the lights only went up to a certain wattage. lol. ohhh but overall if you have problems with your eyes this is not for you. If your on a budget and don't care this may be for you. TIP: I researched online and got it for $52 plus taxes.

We do have subdued lighting in our rooms. We feel it adds to the romantic feel of the place. If there was more lighting needed we would have been happy to provide another lighting source. We are always striving to better our guests experience. We hope to see you again.
