“Good hotel but poor location for nearby restaurants & bars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile

We liked this hotel although the location left a lot to be desired. It was a great location for the beach, however it is at least a 15 min bus ride away from the main bars and restaurants - there are only other hotels at this end of Collins Avenue. There was also ALOT of construction literally next door and opposite the hotel - we even witnessed one hotel being demolished!

However, the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable.  The hotel rooms were also lovely - we spent 6 nights in no.25 which was fine, however we also spent one night in no.22 and could hear everything the couple in the adjoining room was getting up to as the walls were very thin!

The food was ok but very expensive for what we got and the drinks were also very pricey so we never went to to the bar for that reason.

Apart from our comments above, the hotel, which had an Art Deco design had character and pleasant staff.  However we would probably not stay here again due to the location.

This place was better then I expected. Some construction going on but didn't interfere with my vacation. The location was great, approx one block from beach. Room was nice and clean. Most of all very pleasant staff.

The attention is perfect,
It has a very good restaurant with great dishes , my favorites are the Milanesa and the empanadas

We stayed here for two weeks in April 2015. Front desk boys and girls were cheerful and helpful with all inquiries. Beach is across the road. There is a grocery store diagonally opposite (another one in the same row as hotel-down the road) that also served some hot and cold food items and came handy at times. There was construction going on next door and opp. which, we are told will improve hotel facilities. If you want a livelier side then south beach is for you that has more hotels and eating places and a busy beach life. couldn't find fault with the hotel except perhaps the restaurant menu items could be improved, especially breakfast and dinner ones. Sit down restaurant around the area are expensive but if you walk down the other side (turn right when you come out of hotel) you can find shop-cum eating places, mostly, I think, owned by Mexican owners.

Room Tip: Because construction was going on we chose a back room.

We stayed at the Claridge for two nights and three days. We loved the decor - rustic charm.

There was construction going on while we were there but it did not disturb our stay. The staff was courteous and friendly. We loved that directly across the street from the hotel was the beach and that our stay included beach towels and beach chairs.

Only reservation was how thin the walls were. It felt like there wasn't any sound proofing or insulation in the walls. I could here my neighbor shaving in the morning and conversations out my door.

But in all we loved our stay and plan on coming back.

My wife and I stayed in this awesome hotel for a week from 27th May 2015. The hotel is a colonial building and oozes charm and atmosphere, way better than tower block hotels. The staff were all amazing and could not be more helpful and friendly, top marks to the person that manages them. The food is excellent and we had breakfast most mornings as well as dinner three times. Free wifi was a bonus as well. They have their own bit of beach with free chairs, towels and some complimentary water, again staffed by great people. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and we are certain to use it for two weeks next year, hope to see some familiar faces :)

Room Tip: It is an older hotel and not sure if there are verandas or balconies available

We stayed at the Claridge for 2 weeks (which seems to be a long time to stay in Miami). The hotel is charming and quirky. Unfortunately there was a lot of building work going on around the hotel, but once inside it didn't impact on our stay in the slightest. All the staff were friendly and courteous, the rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels available whenever required. The food was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. The beach is a short walk away and you have your own section where the towels and beds are free but you need $15 for a parasol. The Claridge is in a quieter part of South Beach, but for us that was perfect, although it's a long walk to the busier areas, if you take the boardwalk it's a great way to walk where you want to to and enjoy the scenery, you can also catch a bus for $2.35 each and they are very regular. If you want a relaxed, classy break away from the hustle and bustle then I would recommend this hotel.
