“Hidden Fees and Noisy Guests”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

For the price, would look for other 3-star or lower end 4-star hotel in future. I was very dissatisfied with additional fees of +$100 added at check-in and check-out. We reserved deluxe Queen room for 4 people, and was charged added $20 per day for each person over 2 in the room. This was above the reservation price for the room. Also, charged $10 per day resort fee at check-out (this is pretty standard in Miami area). Room was clean and nicely decorated but nothing special. Mattresses were too soft and worn out; not good for bad backs. Location is OK, 1 block from beach and 2 miles north from South Beach area. Hotel was very noisy from other guests in next room, open lobby area and above. Maybe that is expected in 3-star establishments. Might look elsewhere and have better luck; especially for the overall price.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on first floor at back of hotel. Spa and open lobby in center area are very noisy from...

We stayed there for one night after a long trip. We had a pleaseant room, neat & quiet.
The building is very well restored & has that Miami feel. There is a jacuzzi in the middle of the hotel. I found it nice to relax altough we could smell it all over.
Service was well but we stayed there less than 24hours.

We had a suite which was light, clean and quiet, as the location is not in the busy part of South Beach. The hotel has improved a lot since we last stayed there 2 years ago. The staff are helpful and the food was good. Great value for money, and as a business visit the wi-fi access was critical.

Room Tip: Choose a corner suite they are well worth it.

It is very quaint and staff is friendly and accommodating!! Only drawback is a smell coming up from basement into elevator but I'm sure they are going to correct that! It doesn't go into the lobby or hallways. One other suggestion place ice machine on lobby floor! Had a fabulous time and I'll take friendly staff and great rooms over the minor drawbacks anytime!!! Front Office Manager was charming and soooooooooooooo very helpful!!

Room Tip: Ask to see types of rooms available

Stayed for a few days.
The hotel offers a good value for money, inside pool / jacuzzi is nice and the rooms are clean.
A bit far from the art deco area, though the seafront walk is beautiful. Not many places to eat around especially at night. We had a room on a small street on the side, I think main street bedrooms are more noisy.
Staff is helpful.

I would have to agree that it was in the middle of nowhere, it was rather far from south beach. The attendant was really rude, not willing to help (answered phones while checking us in). The reservation was screwed but by the hotel/hotwire not sure which, and they preceded to charge us 20.00 extra a night per person (in our case 40.00 per night). Not only did they charge us more for the mistake but they also charge a "Resort Fee" per night on top of your bill, when i ask what it was for he said "for things like wi-fi"? We were told the wi-fi was free!!!!!!! The smell of our room was rather potent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are four women aged 60+. We stayed here before and after a cruise in Jan and Feb 2012. We first had a room on the 2nd floor and on our return the 3rd floor. We loved the layout, ambiance and general feel of the Claridge. Everywhere was clean and tidy and felt well managed. The rooms were clean and big enough for four to share. The showers were great and the beds extremely comfortable. The staff were helpful, kind and efficient. The beach with board-walk is literally across the road where there are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire. Useful bus stop across the road also and taxi's passing regularly. Taxi's were a good option for 4 sharing the cost. There is a restaurant in the hotel but it is run separately. Dinner was good here but breakfast was very poor and expensive. The jacuzzi was wonderful. The Claridge is extremely good value for money and we would definitely return if in the area.

Room Tip: 2nd floor was slightly better than 3rd floor but all good
