“Older women perspective”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

We are four women aged 60+. We stayed here before and after a cruise in Jan and Feb 2012. We first had a room on the 2nd floor and on our return the 3rd floor. We loved the layout, ambiance and general feel of the Claridge. Everywhere was clean and tidy and felt well managed. The rooms were clean and big enough for four to share. The showers were great and the beds extremely comfortable. The staff were helpful, kind and efficient. The beach with board-walk is literally across the road where there are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire. Useful bus stop across the road also and taxi's passing regularly. Taxi's were a good option for 4 sharing the cost. There is a restaurant in the hotel but it is run separately. Dinner was good here but breakfast was very poor and expensive. The jacuzzi was wonderful. The Claridge is extremely good value for money and we would definitely return if in the area.

Room Tip: 2nd floor was slightly better than 3rd floor but all good

We paid a lower than average rate for this hotel which is why we booked it. I did not realize that we were so far from the main area. Unfortunately, we found ourselves taking a cab ride everywhere we went because we were removed from the action.

The rooms were a bit musty, but I loved the design of the hotel. Our room was well designed, but the bed was a bit uncomfortable and the water pressure was a bit too weak for our tastes. The walls and doors are thin, so you will hear when people arrive at night. However, that wasn't really an issue for me.

I loved the courtyard feel and I loved that the jacuzzi was in the middle. I think the jacuzzi could have been a bit cleaner, but not grossly neglected.

The staff were extremely helpful and willing to call taxis upon request.

I think for the price we paid, it was a pretty good value. If you want luxury, you have to pay luxury prices. However, make sure to rent a car, be prepared to walk 10-15 long blocks or budget for multiple taxi rides per day.

Room Tip: Do not get a room near the elevators or kitchen.

In the middle of nowhere, about 25 blocks away from the busy south beach area. Room provided was wrong. We asked for 2 twin rooms and ended up with 2 rooms with a queen bed in each. told we were going to be charged $10/night for an extra foldable bed. Bath had insects on the tiled floor. entire hotel had a really bad smell which seems to emanate from the jacuzzi which didnt look too appealing.

I had to attend a corporate event and was looking for a Miami hotel where I could escape the buttoned up environment of a lot of giant hotels that may run efficiently but have no personality.

The Claridge was perfect with a super-warm staff who seem to really be of Miami. The hotel and rooms are clean, personable and again, feel like Miami sans the "scene" South Beach has become famous for, making for a nice escape whether you're coming to Miami to party or not. A couple minutes walk from the and boardwalk across the street it's conveniently located but on a quiet block. I visited in January and most of the guests seemed to be European or S. American tourists, some traveling with children looking to enjoy the amazing weather and beautiful beach.

There's a giant jacuzzi on the main floor which is where my room was. I slept very well and wasn't disturbed but if you need absolute peace and quiet I'd recommend asking for a room on another floor.

Didn't have time to check out the restaurants but they seemed popular enough. I generally don't do repeat visits to hotels because I like to check out new places but I think I'd like to give the Claridge another try. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms less close to the jacuzzi unless you have kids then they might like having a pool with...

I stayed here in July 2010. It was very nice and quiet. The rooms were really spacious with there being 4 of us in the room. The beds werent very comfortable. The mattresses were wore out and had dips in the middle of them. The jacuzzi was really nice. It was right across the streeet from the beach. I was told by some other beach goers that that end of the beach was more for families. The party beach was closer to ocean dr. The bus service is very reliable and taxi service also runs all night. Everything is in reach but not in walking distance. The front desk told us we could walk but that was so not true. Miami is a happening town; things stay open all night. Im going back this July but will not be staying at the Claridge. Only because I want to be closer to Ocean Dr. which is in walking distance of restaurants and shopping.

We enjoyed the jacuzzi, although it was in a fairly open area and the hours were not very accomodating. The decor was fairly nice, but nothing that was extraordinary

Many of the items in the room (such as the window and the shower)did not function correctly. There was also a construction project across the street that was very noisy in the mornings and caused the entire area to become dusty. There were many hidden fees, such as resort fees, fees for extra people (they charge $40/day for 3rd and 4th person in a two-queen-bed room) and many others that caused the original price of the room to rise dramatically. During the night, the pipes were extremely loud and most members of the family were woken up on more than one occasion. when we asked the front desk about it, they were largely unhelpful and uncaring about the fact. The elevator and the stairs both smelled disgusting. There was originally also a deal in which two customers would get a free continental breakfast each morning for the duration of their stay, but the offer expired one day before we arrived, and there was no word about the expiration date on booking.com.

We stayed in the Claridge Hotel for 2 nights and another family member stayed in a different room at the same time. We both had an overwhelming smell of a type of ammonia permeating out of the furniture. The cleaning staff attended the room and after smelling the cleaning products used on the floor/bathroom, we found it was the furniture. Goodness knows where they had purchased it but it made it almost unbearable to be in the Hotel. Staff were reasonably friendly. Hotel was generally clean (except for the smell) and the restaurant nice if a little expensive. You receive a free drink on arrival in the restaurant. Wi Fi is dodgy and only available in the public areas. You do need a car or not mind walking to find places to eat after hours. Public transport is right outside the Hotel.
